Hello DakkaDakka community. I have been reading army list on here for a couple of weeks now. And I am hoping the fine members here can help me tailor make my first list. Here is what I got, I am shooting for 1000Pts. I don't want to buy many more models, because they will be getting an update soon? I would like to get what I have painted before I keep buying things. Not looking to enter a tournament with this list. I am just looking to play my first game. Going for a speed freak style. Thanks everyone.

Well, firstly, paint up Ghazghkull, make him beautiful, put him on your bookshelf, and leave him there. Gork and Mork willing, he'll be useful again sometime next year...

After that, the question becomes: to Nob Biker or not to Nob Biker? Lotta folks will do it every time. In 1500 I'd say go for it, in 1000... I feel it's too much of a point sink.

I'd take 3 units of Trukk sluggas @127 points a Trukkload (unless my math is off, that should get you a nob with BP and Big Choppa). 381 so far.

Then maybe a unit of 20 shootas to sit on a point, another 120.
501 with that.

Dakkajet for fun times, with extra shootas! I think that's 115?
So, 616.

3 Deffkoptas with TL Rokkits, for 135.

Then... full the rest up with bikes? Maybe 2 units, each led by a warboss on a bike, if you can fake that. If you'd rather not say, "The cool looking biker is actually a warboss" then maybe stick warbosses in with the trukkboyz instead of nobz?

Honestly, after saying all that, I think the best thing to do would be to try, fail, try again, and then fail better.

Lol. He does look really awesome. I guess since my warboss is the AOBR and Grumlok and Gazbag I will proxy him for some time. Thank you for the response.

Also I know Ghaz is a huge point sink and people seem to say that he is good in anything 2500+. But if I took him would he not be unstopable in a 1000pt game. Again never played and dont know the rules but seems like he would wreck alot in such a small game. Pardon my Noobness. Thanks again.

Use Ghazzy as a standard warboss in mega armour, drop an attack squig and cybork on him, making him almost as good as Ghaz without the bells and whistles for a 100 points less! (125 points) drop him in a trukk with a unit of nobs for a hard arse hitting CC unit.

2 units of Trukk sluggas

Run rest of the sluggas on foot and use cover to your advantage.

Shoota boyz to camp on an objective

Dakkajet with extra supa shoota

Fill out the rest of your fast attack with 2 units of 3 koptas, or add in some bikers. Personally I don't run them cus i'm not a fan, but most people love them.

Try and fit in a looted wagon if you can, they are so much fun but can be a right pain!

With the PK vs big choppa, it's all up to you really, i like running them but half the time they're dead before they can even strike back :/ big choppas are more useful and are hard hitting. If you've got the points, then run PKs, if not big choppas are still damn effective.

Have not played with them yet but I love the models. Can I take three DakkaJets in a 1000pt List?

Yeah, the dakkajet is one of the main things that is always in my 1k list. Some players do get annoyed though, but hey its all fun! Lol

Really.. 3 Dakkajets.. I got those too and I want to run them but seriously.. unless it's for fun they are just lootas that count as a scoring point in a couple of mission types..'

EDIT. What I'm trying to say here.. in my drunk version of clarity.. is if you are playing less than 1500 pts.. you want 200 models.. otherwise you are just having fun.

Actually, with a new ork codex possibly on the horizon, now might be the time to buy new models (may have a price increase), unless you are just waiting to see if new models (sculpts) etc come out.

Other than that, if its just friendly games; I say throw Ghaz in that trukk and send him towards the enemy. I think he is still a lot of fun.

As I've said before in another post, if something sounds wacky or completely insane, thats what I run. We're orks right, its supposed to work.

I never thought about the price increase, you may be right. And I will def be throwing my money towards a Limited Edition codex and the click and buy colletion. I just have to, I know I wont be able to stop myself.

Thank you Rismonite for the encourgament, I do like the green tide. But I dont know if I could stand to paint 200 orks at once.

Also why does no one seem to run a full squad of DeffKoptas? I always just see one? Thanks again for the responses everyone.

I feel your pain with painting 100s of figures, I play ork and imperial guard, its a nightmare so I try to paint 10 at a time and soon enough it builds up

The reason why people only field 1 in a unit is cus deffkoptas are just great distraction units, running 3 in a squad can't really bog down multiple units

So in the 1000pt range does a Warboss on warbike make sense? I just got done with a conversion that I would happly say is a Warboss on warbike pk.

Absolutely a warboss on war bike makes sense! That one model will wreck almost anything- he can be an entire flank of your advance. Plus, if your conversion looks awesome (and I'm sure it does, and you should totally post it on the forums) then that's another good reason to run him.

Going back to Ghazzy, he's still totally intimidating, and his base stats make him a beast, but his special WAAAGH! Is kinda lame with the new FAQ. It now lets da Boyz run a full 6" that turn, and makes Ghazzy's 2+ an invul save for the turn. That sounds great, but it can't be used first turn, you can't run and charge, you can't run and shoot, and a unit with Ghazzy in it can't run at all cuz he's in Mega Armor. A normal WAAAGH! let's you reroll either/both of your charge dice, which I think is better. So, as someone above said, it is now wiser to just make the model count as a standard Mega Armores Warboss. Ghazzy just isn't worth the points right now.

Thank you DaisyWondercow for the explanation! Its not to crazy of a conversion I just turned the DV bikers into Ork bikers using some left over deffkoptas. But it was cheaper than buying 3models(since I just had the DV unused laying around). Thanks again everyone.
