Greetings everyone. I come looking for advice on a 1500pt Dark Angel Army. I play mostly Necron and Dark Eldar, though we just got a Tyranid player and an IG player though they haven't played yet. So basicly I'm looking for advice. This is for a fun game but I do like to remain competitive. Thanks in advance.

I'm hoping my lack of responses means my list is perfect couldn't possibly be improved. That being said I won't bump this thread again.

For a dark angels list this seems kind of weak and very vulnerable competitively it won't do well against TAC lists or WAAC lists.

Do you more or less know what your friends are fielding on their armies?
And are you willing to buy new stuff or what do you own that can be swapped for some of the things in this list?

Dark Eldar should be able to dance circles around you putting wounds on your strongest units until you can't fight back properly.

IG can just camp in a gunline and blast away with barrage weapons which will seriously hurt everything in your army.

Tyranids you can do well against with the whirlwinds, but if he's fielding mostly MCs you will be destroyed pretty easily as you don't seem to have the means to wound several high T models

Necrons you should do well against if he's a beginner with an average list, but against a standard necron list you will find yourself taking a beating as they can outmaneuver you and shoot better.

1. Tyranids - 15,000 pts
2. Chaos Space Marines - 7,100 pts
3. Space Marines - 6,000 pts
4. Orks - 5,900 pts
5. Dark Angels - 4,300 pts
6. Necrons - 4,600 pts
7. Grey Knights - 3,200 pts
8. Eldar - 3,400 pts
9. Blood Angels - 3,200 pts
10. Chaos Daemons - 3,200 pts
11. Tau Empire - 3,000 pts
12. Space Wolves - 2,400 pts

My friends are pretty open with proxies. I'm not sure why it's weak though. I have anti tank in the dreadnaughts and scouts. I have anti elite in the command squad and BKs. I have anti horde/infantry with the whirlwinds. I have mobility, range and first strike. I genuinely am looking for advice I can't improve this if all I know is its weak. Also I don't know what army it'll face until game day.

whirlwinds are, well, usually lack luster, your list looks like C:SM with DA allies. drop the dreads and whirlwinds for a DW terminator squad? if you can fit two in there form the points it would be nice, give them a heavy flamer or PC possibly.

swap they chappy out for a libby or just sammeal imo. while I like PCs dev squads they usually blow up on me :(.

This is why it helps to know what your friends will bring.
I pointed out to you the things that you'll be vulnerable against from those armies i mentioned.

How will you stop them from killing your units? and what guarantees you first strike?

I'm not terribly experienced, I've only been playing since august. I can't honestly say that I know how ill deal with something till I get there. In the past I've tailored my lists based on what I've seen them play and I loose because I'm fighting last weeks battle while they do something different. I try to make well rounded lists.

Here is a few things I can expect at 1500pts from Necrons and dark eldar.

Necrons:
1 or 2 monoliths

1 or 2 ghost arks

Night scythes filled with troops and a lord

Possibly wraiths though he hasn't been wildly successful with them.

He's been talking lately of doing a scarab/spider swarm army

Dark Eldar:

Almost garunteed to see 3 of his jets, not sure the name

He likes his jet bike troops too

His jump pack guys will make an appearance

He'll likely pack his skimmer transport with whyches

And have some troops scattered around.

Other than that, it's hard to say what I'll face.

That's way more useful so now here's my question

what do you have available to you? or are you willing to purchase any unit suggestions ?

Also do they actually have any flyers? not sure what you mean by dark eldar jets if those are flyers or just DE skimmers like venoms or raiders.

You have flakk missiles in your list so i assume you are facing some kind of flyers?

Any how with a bit more info i can offer you solid advice for dealing with those units you listed

1. Tyranids - 15,000 pts
2. Chaos Space Marines - 7,100 pts
3. Space Marines - 6,000 pts
4. Orks - 5,900 pts
5. Dark Angels - 4,300 pts
6. Necrons - 4,600 pts
7. Grey Knights - 3,200 pts
8. Eldar - 3,400 pts
9. Blood Angels - 3,200 pts
10. Chaos Daemons - 3,200 pts
11. Tau Empire - 3,000 pts
12. Space Wolves - 2,400 pts

I have no ability to purchase new right now. I can however proxie whatever I want. I looked up the DE flyer and it looks like a razorwing. I've never read the DE codex so I'm not real good at their names. So I can pretty much count on either army having both fliers and skimmers.

In that case I recommend you drop the devastator squads with plasma cannons and proxy 2 squads of devastators with flakk missile launchers, also proxy a defense line with quad gun

Those 3 things will take care of most of your anti-flyer/skimmer needs

proxy more bikes with meltaguns, make them troops with a proxy of sammael or azrael these units will be solid objective holders and can chase down DE units as well as put a hurt on necron vehicles which tend to have AV13 or higher.

drop the scouts entirely they just arent that good or just make it one unit of 10 with only sniper rifles and make them hold objectives as their priority

Proxy your dreadnoughts as riflemen dreads, they put out a high volume of shots that can really help you to bring down DE and Monstrous Creatures when coupled with the devastator units and the defense line.

Proxy some librarians so you can use prescience from divination to twin-link your devastators.

Well just because I said could proxy doesn't mean I have too. I do have some stuff not in the original list That being said, Thank you for the advice and I will take it into consideration. My main reason for the scouts is that I'd never actually used that unit and wanted to see how they did. I saw a use for them and wanted to see how they worked out. That is not to say I wont take the advice given, just that I'll consider it. Also with the rifle man Dreads, wouldn't I be better just taking the Mortis Contemptor with Kheres assault cannons? Then that could fill both anti air and big infantry role. I can't think of anything I'll face with more than an 11AV in the air. Again, thanks for all the advice, I do appreciate it.

scouts are good great objective holders but they dont do much damage specially against the kinds of units you'll be fighting.

3. Space Marines - 6,000 pts
