So... this just happened (another source)]:
Spoiler:

Impeaching Eric H. Holder, Jr., Attorney General of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors.
IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Mr. OLSON
(for himself) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on

RESOLUTION

Impeaching Eric H. Holder, Jr., Attorney General of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors.
Resolved,
That Eric H. Holder, Jr., Attorney General

of the United States, is impeached for high crimes and

misdemeanors, and that the following articles of impeach-

ment be exhibited to the Senate:

Articles of impeachment exhibited by the House of

Representatives of the United States of America in the

name of itself and all of the people of the United States

of America, against Eric H. Holder, Jr., Attorney General

of the United States, in maintenance and support of its
impeachment against him for high crimes and mis-

demeanors.

ARTICLE I

Eric H. Holder, Jr., while Attorney General of the

United States, engaged in a pattern of conduct incompat-

ible with the trust and confidence placed in him in that

position by refusing to comply with a subpoena issued by

the House Committee on Oversight and Government Re-

form on October 12, 2011, in connection with a legitimate

Congressional investigation into Operation Fast and Furi-

ous by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms that

put thousands of illegally-purchased weapons into the

hands of cartel leaders, ultimately resulting in the death

of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry in December 14,

2010.

Wherefore, Eric H. Holder, Jr., Attorney General of

the United States, is guilty of high crimes and mis-

demeanors and should be removed from office and dis-

qualified to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or

profit under the United States.

ARTICLE II

Eric H. Holder, Jr., while Attorney General of the

United States, and responsible for enforcing the laws of

the United States regardless of personal bias, failed to en-

force multiple laws, including the Defense of Marriage
Act, the Controlled Substances Act, and the Anti-Drug

Abuse Act of 1986.

Wherefore, Eric H. Holder, Jr., Attorney General of

the United States, is guilty of high crimes and mis-

demeanors and should be removed from office and dis-

qualified to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or

profit under the United States.

ARTICLE III

Eric H. Holder, Jr., while Attorney General of the

United States, has failed his oath of office by refusing to

prosecute individuals involved in the Internal Revenue

Service scandal of unauthorized disclosure of tax records

belonging to political donors.

Wherefore, Eric H. Holder, Jr., Attorney General of

the United States, is guilty of high crimes and mis-

demeanors and should be removed from office and dis-

qualified to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or

profit under the United States.

ARTICLE IV

Eric H. Holder, Jr., while Attorney General of the

United States, testified under oath before Congress in

May 15, 2013, that he was neither involved in nor had

heard of a potential prosecution of the press. However

three days later, the Department of Justice released docu-

ments naming journalist James Rosen as a co-conspirator

in an alleged violation of the Espionage Act. Eric H. Hold-
er, Jr. Attorney General of the United States, confirmed

to the Committee on the Judiciary of the House of Rep-

resentatives in a letter dated June 19, 2013, that he ap-

proved of a search warrant on James Rosen.

Wherefore, Eric H. Holder, Jr., Attorney General of

the United States, is guilty of high crimes and mis-

demeanors and should be removed from office and dis-

qualified to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or

profit under the United States.

Two things:
1) I think that Holder's DOMA action is weak-sauce, not impeachable... but, eh... the rest of the article... it's a legit.

2)
Why do this now? It's only going to be a distraction away from the issues stemming from the PPACA. Geez... with the Democrat majority Senate? Not enough facepalms to go around here...

This is... this is interesting.

I'm not to familiar with this process, so I don't know if this is like a serious thing, or if it's just a posturing type of thing.

I'm sure it's at least as serious as the articles of impeachment Vermont drew up around 2007 or thereabouts, if I recall.

This doesn't appear to be an actual article, just a white paper outlining what one could look like.

No major outlets are reporting this. Fox, Drudge, CNN, etc... I'm not thinking this is a real thing as of yet.

I'm sure it's very white. White as a sheet.

Come on, you know we're going to get there, might as well just hit the gas and go, right?

No, this is about Holder, so we aren't going there. We're afraid to talk about race, remember?

Nah... my twitter feed just exploded on this.

While there's many who are in the camp of "death by a thousand cuts" supporting this. I'm most definitely not. For a practical reason. The D's has control over the Senate. Not-Going-To-Happen.

Even THEN... I wouldn't support this "tactically". It takes the heat away from the PPACA debate.

So, imo, this is a baaaad mistake for the R's.

How long has it been since we've had an AG who was worth a gak, anyway? Looking though Wikipedia, maybe not in my lifetime. All of them have some really notable screwups.

So we should accept gakky AG every time? FWIW: I actually thought Ashcroft was okay.

He seems to have grown a conscience late in his career, when he realized what some of his earlier efforts had wrought, but I don't think that was adequate to atone for, say, renditions, abusing the material witness statue, escalating the war on drugs, and so on.

Though I supposed abandoning the last thing probably was not within his purview, though.

No, it just seems to be the way it is. If anything, I'd argue there is no point in impeaching Holder because statistically his replacement will be just as bad.

Makes you wonder, though, if Congress would stop playing political power games over confirming Presidential appointees, would we ultimately have better qualified people in these positions rather than the ones that barely squeak through the confirmation process by being just palatable enough to all involved?

I'm more concerned how this will play out politically. The Republicans have been pretty good at being total PR morons lately. Still, going after Holder on issues which have real victims is better than all this birther garbage "impeach Obama" sloganeering I see everywhere on political forums.

The President would have to appoint better qualified people in the first place. Congress may be holding up nominations but the President and his staff are the ones that pick them.

Probably work

I am firmly of the opinion that the best thing Eric Holder will do his entire career is eventually vacate the position.

Why? This impeachment, if in fact is submitted tomorrow, has no chance in hell to go through the Senate.

Although, the rank-in-file Democrats probably wouldn't mind this as this'll deflect the heat off of them from the PPACA debacle. Which is precisely the reason why I'm against this sort of thing.

Besides... he's Obama's appointee... it's the President's right to appoint whomever he wants as it's his administration.

It's true. The President can appoint 'em and Congress can impeach 'em. I'm just worried that this will look frivolous to the public. I think it's pretty certain that's how the President and his supporters will spin it. Remember the whole "it's only sex" thing when they went after Clinton? You'd think the Republicans would have learned from their mistakes.

Sorry, I just had to do a double take. I'm not sure why a Libertarian leaning type (maybe that was Seaward) would be a fan of Ashcroft. A Social Conservative, yeah sure I can see that; but that is about it.

Man, Holder did not even want to stick around for this term. He did, but he did not want to.

All I can imagine when thinking of him hearing about this is a line from Bill Cosby Himself*:

"And she sent me, to my room Which is where I had wanted to be, IN THE FIRST PLACE!"

*Himself is the name of the standup routine, not used as some sort of honorific or anything.

Seaward's the libertarian, and he was not a fan of Ashcroft, no. Nor Bush, for that matter. He liked Bush better than Obama, and Ashcroft better than Holder, but they would not have been first picks.

I'm starting to think the best attorney general candidate would be a non-shedding dog of temperate character and advanced years.

It's partly because Ashcroft is from my state.

Don't get me wrong... he ain't perfect by any stretch. But, he's definitely better than Holdner.
