Lesser Daemon of Chaos

I'm thinking of running a Black Legion Lord with the skull, daemon sword, power fist, sigil, palanquin, and MoN
I'm just thinking of how to get him into cc combat, guys a monster when he gets into it but getting him there seems problematic.
Other than a Termi Bodyguard and Raider what options do I have?

if your area allows Forge World, You can use chaos drop pods, the dreadclaws. Other than that, theres nothing. Hes not fast enough to have a bike/spawn bodyguard. If they dont allow dreadclaws, go for the land raider. its your only option.

Landraider with a small body guard. He is very bulky so you can fit up to 7 more models with him I believe, so 3 terminators? PM? CSM? Cultists (probably not but its an option)??? Maybe some possessed (s5 t5 isn't bad, guns or not). Hell go for broke. Mutilators. Anything that squad touches will quickly become a figment of your imagination. Obliterators could be interesting, plasma or flamer the unit before charging.

You can slingshot him into combat by attaching him to the rear of a spawn unit. Give the spawn the mark of nurgle to make them more survivable and string them as fast as possible towards the enemy. Even a gunline army would be hard pressed to kill 3 of the,. Turn 2, they are in combat and even if the lord doesn't make it, he cant be shot at as his unit is in close combat. Remember, you cant shoot through close combat so this could also help provide a screen for other units as well. We have the thread dedicated to discussing possible ways to get to close combat and make it more effective. Check it out. Ignore the "shooting is op spam and focus on the actual tactics being put forth.
Good luck with him. Always did have a fondness for chaos.

It's a T5 W3 5++ model. It's not hard to kill.
Tau eat this kind of thing for breakfast, LRBT's instagib them, massed small arms will get there...

Except the slingshot works specifically because you cannot shoot what isn't in range, so keeping 1 spawn within closest range of your opponents 30" buffer means, sure, he can munch that 1 spawn, then on your turn again, you can move 12" and effective charge 7-8 then boom, you're in CC.
I've done this a few times myself and it's even more frustrating if there are good lines of cover and buildings in the way. No one demands open boards of non existent cover except Tau players

There is no rule that says you cannot shoot "through" close combat. It simply gives a cover save to that unit being shot.

Yup the actual model has been discontinued because the molds where too old.
But there will be new models "soon"...

He is aware of this. He just has a personal vendetta against me for proving him wrong on a different topic and stalks me wherever I post to troll.

Ahh, My bad. Glad you pointed that out. It still protects the trailing models from being shot at so the lord can literally thumb his nose and do the moonwalk across the field in front of enemy guns as he is technically involved in the combat and even if the enemy can shoot through, providing a 5+ cover save to the rest of your army from various vantages is a boon (any decent commander can use positioning to decide which angles to provide it from). Yes, I know barrage and blast weapons can still "accidentally" land on them if the enemy fires at nearby units hoping the blasts will deviate onto them.
