Back in the English morass

GW have started to introduce discounts of a sort. Their unit bundles tend to be a bit cheaper than buying everything individually, in the past these bundles were effectively the same price. It's a fairly small saving and a lot less than you would get from an independent retailer but at least it's something.

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Do managers not have any discretionary powers then? Many stores would give you a deal if you were to buy a heap of stuff. Given the numerous ways they seem to hamstring their managers to prevent individuality, GW just see their managers as selling stuff, not properly running a store and shaping it to an area. They seem pretty restricted on the sorts of games and events they can run at stores too, for example.

I don't think they are really "managers" in the traditional sense of the word. From what I can tell they have almost no decision making powers (i.e. they don't even control stock or ordering) and are essentially just "the staff member in charge" with almost all of the decision making done at head office level. Maybe they have some scope to "write off" some items in lieu of a discount but I imagine that is heavily restricted.

If you want a better discount on a bulk order, talk to your FLGS, where the manager is a real manager and will have the ability to negotiate a deal.

The only reason you should be buying from a GW store direct is if for convenience or if you play there

That may be the most impressive bit of bs mental gymnastics I have heard in a while.

About 4 years ago when I was first getting back into the hobby i went into a GW in Manchester and asked If I could get a discount becasue I could get the whole lot cheaper online, and the bloke almost laughed in my face.

I think the short answer is, they absolutely do not. I guess the sales blokes cant do anything without GW HQs say so, so they will knock money off if you see the bundles on the GW website or something, but you are fethed if you just rock up and ask them to knock some money off.

Thing is, I always wondered, dont the staff get like 25% off? Couldnt the staff member juke the stats a little by helping you out, and knocking some off, but then just claim that he bought it? Surely a sale is a sale, wouldnt they rather you buy something for less profit than nothing at all?

My brother works for a big sports company, and I always get a 20% discount if he is at the store when I buy, surely GW would make more money this way, unless they only make 20% profit, which is utterly laughable.

Do the math though, surely selling $1000 worth of things with a 20% discount is better than selling nothing at all in store because they just go to an online retailer or use ebay?

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

Pretty sure its a ford focus or a low end mazda at best. It just has a Ferrari badge glued to the front with over priced glue and its been sprayed red with over priced spray. It also has Ferrari written in sharpie on the windows.

Spoiler:
How GW see themselves

And what they realy are

On the OP there are difference in prices because of the Huuuge differences in value of money in different countries

Not this?

In fairness this brand of stupidity isn't unique to GW. There's an FLGS near me that only occasionally does 10% off boardgames and rp books, but mainly if they don't have something he still tries to talk people into ordering it from him...for full retail price. As if it were the 80's and mail order was the only way to get our toy soldiers?
