1850 Iron Hands

Ok so the bikes basicly hang mid field shooting. The Auto-cannon dreads shoot down flyers and light Vehicles. The Forge Master fixes the Dreads. The Captain kills almost everything he Assaults then regenerates his wound with It will not die along with the regenerating Dreadnoughts. The Ironclads charge up the guts and take on a flank and assault things until they die or wipe out the opposing force and regenerate hull points from It will not die and a sneaky techmarine on a bike. So does this list have potential or should I not bother.

Not too bad. An army with serious anti-tank could cause you problems, but most don't have that much.

Captain really wants a thunder hammer instead of the burning blade. For ID anything T4, and for making it easier to kill MC's (including the annoying T8 wraithknight). You could potentially make him a chapter master with the saved points. (Potentially he can only exchange for 1 relic anyway depending on how you read the bit in the relic armoury section which seems to imply 1 non-armour relic only).

Bike squads are solid, just be careful with them, as they not as tough as it might seem sometimes. The grav squads really want a combi-grav on the sergeants, for that turn when you need to kill things.

Ironclads are good. 3 will be a pain to deal with for a lot of armies, especially with iron hands.

The normal dreads will struggle to kill heavy vehicles or flyers, so massed vendettas for example could give you issues. Light flyers they should be fine to deal with them.

This kind of list is very fixed, and you seem to have a pretty solid core. My only issue would be how do you hold an 'home' objective? Or do you simply place it further forwards to move onto? This would seem the best bet.

Hope this is useful.

It looks liek the squads without melta bombs, cost more than those that HAVE melta bombs? Is that a typo? It might affect the total points.

No typo's the melta squads are cheeper than the Grav Squads

I agree with the Combi's but what to drop get them in. For the Captian is it worth giving up I5 AP2 attacks. If I come up against Eldar MC's I can possibly kill them with the Grav Guns. May need more Grav guns.

Would it be worth trading a Dred or two for a Stormtalon?

I'd drop the forge master and auto cannon dreads. I'd add two storm talons and ml drop pods for the iron clads

Why would you buy the MotF a power axe when he's already got 2 power fists from the servo harness? Makes literally no sense.

Captain is better off with a TH and preferably the upgrade to Chapter Master EW on 4 wounds plus a relentless bombardment is well worth it.

Those Ironclads are walking right? Then they never get there. They need pods and to be honest if you want a Dread mob you want to dropping lots of Ironclads turn 1 so drop pod tacs seem the best fit rather than bikers.

I think you should choose between a bike list and a dread list.

Ok here is second attempt. I have ditched the bikes and the Captian for Drop Pods. I have put in some Sternguard as well but might swap them out for 3 more dreads. The MoF sits behind the Agies and shoots at things with the smaller Tac Squads.

I can Swap out the Sternguard for 3 more Ironclads but then one will be stuck in reserve. Any ideas?

Ok I changed the list again. Heres the new one. Everything starts in the Pods. Turn 1 Dreads drop in and start killing things. I actually realised that the Pods will also have It will not die for some more fun. All my scoring units drop in the following turns. What does everyone think now.

Should I drop some death wind launchers for some Combi-weapons?

I like the 2nd list but would drop the death wind launchers for combi-weapons on the tactical Sergeants. Then you've got a decent list.

I like it. Does what you want it to do and will cause plenty of people trouble with 6 AV12 and 6 AV13 hulls in his face turn 1.

I actually much preferred your initial concept provided you make a few tweaks.

Something like this:

E- Ironclad Dreadnought, Heavy Flamer, Melta gun, Ironclad Assault Launchers, Pod
190pts

E- Ironclad Dreadnought, Heavy Flamer, Melta gun, Ironclad Assault Launchers , Pod

135pts

100pts

5 to spare. I'll say right now, your weakness is obvious: no AA. If someone brings heavy air. you do however have the mobility and firepower to eviscerate, if not outright table what they do have on in the early game. It isn't the best IH list I could think of, but in the spirit of what you initially wanted, I like it.

Empty pods allow all 3 Ironclads to come on T1. Your deployed TFCs add great fire support. The bikes have firepower but be careful how you apply it. They will fall to volume of fire just like terminators. You're not light on scoring per se, but manage your expectations when pondering just how much of the kill load they'll be shouldering. The answer should typically be, not very much.

Good luck!

What flyers cause Ironclads a problem? Unless they hover they'll struggle to even get 1 round of shooting at the Ironclads. Dropping 6 even into interceptor heavy Tau will cause problems (9 intercepting Broadsides should do 4 Hull Points before any applicable cover saves). Massed AV13 can work well in the S7 heavy meta of 6th.

@ The shrike. You need the MotF to be able to take Dreds as Elites and Heavy Support
