If anyone has both models, I'd love to see a pic of them side by side so I can see what the height difference is.

I've scoured the web but couldn't find any info on how much taller the new finecast Commander is compared to the regular XV-8 plastic kit.

Any help would be appreciated.

This isn't exactly what you were looking for, but having seen them next to each other in person - the image is accurate:

The finecast enforcer suit is a solid 1 inch taller than a standard crisis suit. The commanders jet pack is also about 50% larger (both in width and height).

I was originally planning to use the commander model to replace all my regular XV8s, but he is just way too large - he towers over farsight who is the same height as plastic XV8s.

The new finecast farsight

Here is a comparison of some of my suits - farsight, farsight being converted to a standard XV8 and and FW XV8 (the forgeworld suit is pretty much the same size as a regular GW suit).



I'm not exactly sure what you had in mind for your suits, but here is my finished farsight -> XV8 conversion. It has a much more appropriate scale and allows you to field less boxy suits:
