So I'm planning to get some Eldar allies for my Tau and I was considering going for Ultwe or Biel-Tan, Leaning towards Biel-Tan because I like the Aspect Warriors (Though it might be a bit hard to paint as it has so much white..) and I was curious, What should I get?
My Tau model list consists of
6 Crisis Suits
38 Fire Warriors
8 Pathfinders
1 Devilfish
3 Broadsides
12 Gun Drones
26 Kroot
Aun'Shi
Aun'Va with his bodyguards
1 Piranha
1 Riptide

I am gonna get a Hammerhead aswell, For the time being I proxy my Devilfish as a hammerhead. My Tau army lists are normaly 1 Crisis Suit commander with 2 bodyguards, 3 groups of Fire Warriors, 1 group of 3 Crisis Suits (All 6 suits run 2 missile pods) 3 Broadsides with missiles and missile drones, 1 group of 8 pathfinders, And a hammerhead.

Why are you playing Aun'Shi and Aun'Va? What is your strategy with this army. I play Tau myself and I think I can help you if you give me some insight on how you plan to play it. What is each units role etc. I have some ideas though...

Generally a good addition would be a farseer on jetbike for the HQ and a small guardian jetbike squad for the troops. This unit is great for capturing last minute objectives and being a nuisance in general. If you want aspect warriors then consider either warpspiders, swooping hawks or some firedragons in a waveserpent.

I'm not using them, They are on the list of models I own, Not the second list that it what I normaly use. I never used Aun'Shi, and only used Aun'Va a couple of times (He isent all bad now in the 6'th edition codex) Normaly my only commander is a Crisis Suis Commander, Sometimes I run Aun'Shi as a basic ethereal to stick with the Fire Warriors who then stay close together.

How I normaly play is the Fire Warriors holding objectives on my side of the field, The crisis suits moving about to harass the enemy, While the Broadsides and Hammerhead sticks back to blow stuff up from a distance. Sometimes I bring some Kroot to hunt objectives on the enemy half of the field.

I dont know exactly what I want from Eldar or how to use them, I just think it would be fun to have some Eldar allies (Since I kind of like Eldar and they are battle brothers.) Mayhaps a farseer to cast some spells to help out and maybe some striking scorpions for melee defence or something..

Jetbikes are a good idea too, Shame the riders look so silly though.. XD

Is there any viable reason to ally eldar into tau, except for farseer casting prescience on two riptides? thats literally the only reason i see anyone get taudar.

I agree. You should try Tau with SM. Put Tiggy into the bomb and you have GoI too. Its great. I play it myself. Tell me if you have any questions

Farseer, jet bikes, rangers, lance weapons. Before the new SM codex dropped, Tau with Eldar was a great combo. And they still are a great combo for Tau. You get guide and prescience and better deny the witch roll's. Both armies have great synergy and can aid each other better then a one trick pony.

Curious Commander_Far, have you played your bomb yet are you just theory crafting? Just curious, you are asking a ton of question about how to run a bomb in other thread. Along with other basic Tau tactics.

Cheap, shores up one of the major weaknesses in Tau Lists, their Scoring, and brings a huge force multiplier. This is the standard go to.

So I have all of my bomb assembled, but I am almost half way done painting it. I have played against my friend who is a very skilled player, but we have just been doing testing etc. I have my first game with it this weekend. All should go well as I have my Riptide for it.

Yes so I am asking questions about tactics etc. because if there are rules I can abuse or if there are specific ways I should play it and am not realizing it, that is why I have been asking so may questions on my other thread. I have started playing the game recently and when I joined the wh40k universe the new Tau codex had just dropped, so I consulted my friend and then decided to play Tau. I am still trying to learn all of the basics in general for the army too just so I can master it asap. I hope this answers you question lynxstrife.

Please! Go look at my thread on my Farsight Bomb list (top link). It has gotten some hate, and I was just wondering if anyone could help me with it and make it better than just pointing out what is bad about it...

I went with

Autarch, EJB, fusion gun, shard, mantle

2 units of 5 DA with serpents.

its 33%+ of my army at 1500 points but is very powerful.

Thinking about adding in a Wraith knight, or reapers and a serpent/

Add a farseer as your HQ. You then use guide and prescience to boast your units shooting to glorious levels.

Farseer on a jetbike supported by jetbike troops for the win. After that add in whatever flavors tickle your fancy from the Eldar book.

Seer is required one way or another. His force multiplication ability for Tau is undeniable.

After that, Serpents with Dire Avengers or Jetbikes are good Troop options.

After that the Wraith-units add durability(Lord and Knight anyway), Warp Spiders fit in with the Tau lists very well usually, and War Walkers can fill niches too.

It does answer it, but abusing rule wording and trying to find that little cheat will get you known as TFG. I know how competition is and such but no need to be TFG.

If you want broadsides from XV8 make sure you use the new base and get the old rail rifle kit from eBay.

Back on topic, I plan on doing some Elder fun for my Tau. I was thinking Far seer on foot with Ripetides and broadsides. I wanted to do some good old fashion Elder CC units for fun. I saw in their codex a item that makes you roll 4d6 for DtW.
