For me it's a tie between Tzeentch and Slaanesh. Excess in all things and it's just as planned... And remember with the lord of excess, it's not rape if you're willing But wow, that really IS ridiculously even.

Ever since the first time I opened up the Slaves to Darkness volume I have been a fan of Khorne. Just love painting all that gold and brass trim on everything. My khorne CSM army is larger than my other 3 CSM armies and I have more khorne daemons than anything else with 1 unit of each type of bloodletter made from the current plastics all the way back to the longlimbed and loping daemons from Rogue trader days. The second Realms of Chaos book, The Lost and the Damned, included rules for creating your own daemon prince for your chaos warbands to worship and a pantheon of daemons to support them. Always wanted to do that to create my own unique look chaos themed army with totally new looking greater deamons, lesser daemons, beasts and mounts. The sample deamons they gave in the book were a pretty odd mix of traits and appearance. Of course I'd have to use them as "counts as", but it would be cool for the conversion/modeling projects.

Good question. I think I'd say Tzeentch. As far as Chaos goes, he's the epitome of it, what with his love of constant change. His excessive mutation of his followers especially epitomises this. If you're a thrall to Tzeentch, he'll probably mould your body randomly just because he can. I also like how he has a feel of being "the odd one out" from the main four, with his love of chaos and scheming as opposed to the others, who are generally more direct in what they do.
Another thing I like is the frightening amount of power and knowledge that he wields. I've heard that he has access to the "threads of fate" within the warp, and Fateweaver gives gin exceptional foresight. His mastery over sorcery and knowledge also gives him a worrying edge. He just feels quite insidious in what he does.
Hmm. I must say, this little post has given me the urge to start a Tzeentch army, some day.
Oh, and an honourable mention to Nurgle for the zombies. Zombies are fun.

BaconUprising wrote:Slaanesh because he is getting stronger faster than any of the others but tzeentch is oh so close to being my favourite. Order of actual power goes: Khorne Tzeentch Nurgle Slaanesh currently does it not? This is correct. Khorne is empowered currently, and Slaanesh is on the rise. Technically, Tzeentch is on his way down with Khorne (because who sits at the peak has only down to go) and Nurgle and Slaanesh are on the rise, respectively. It's an interesting wheel which turns with these four. About Tzeentch, one should note that at one time, Tzeentch was the dominant power. So great was Tzeentch that his three brothers joined forces and cast his body from the Eternal Peaks of his Fortress, where he shattered into 1000 x 1000 pieces. This is why the Blue Horrors, P'tarix and Xirat'p exist; to collect these fragments of Tzeentches power and make their master whole. Unfortunately, if you're looking at how the shift is supposed to go, Tzeentch ends up at the bottom of the barrel after the completion of this shift. What stands as Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle, and Slaanesh, is destined to become Slaanesh Nurgle Khorne Tzeentch At least observably, by my eyes anyways. +__+ One would think Nurgle should attain supremacy next, and he may for a short time, but Slaanesh is a newborn God whose yet to achieve a peak measure of s/him's power. The other three have all had their times at one point or another, Khorne having his now. When Khorne is cast down, Nurgle will briefly take his place before the Excess of Slaanesh dares to claim them all. Also, if you compare this to Fantasy, I'm told it's they are opposites. In Fantasy; Tzeentch Nurgle Khorne Slaanesh Not as sure as I am of the 40k structure. lol

No in fantasy it's:
Khorne
Tzeentch
Nurgle
Slaanesh
Still. At least that's what it was last army book and I don't think it's changed.

Nah it's different in fantasy, he's just like all the other gods, formed as a result of a build p of human emotion in the warp, he's still the youngest and fastest growing though. He has no real connection with the elves I believe other than the fact that his strongest daemon was defeated twice by two elven heroes.

I thought that Nurgle's thing was that his power waxes and wanes? His fluff talks about how his garden often expands and shrinks depending on how powerful he is at the time.

Yeah not quite sure why people are saying his powers are on the rise, as you said they fluctuate according to the goings on in the material universe I believe.

I am purely dedicated to tzeentch, he is my master and i will sacrifice for him. On a serious note i play mono-tzeentch daemons, i loved the fact there was daemons in 40k but didnt like slaanesh, and im a very shooty type of player so khorn was out the question and out of all of them tzeentch appealed the most and his daemons are the best looking IMO, and he is the most powerful of the gods any way.

I voted for Slaanesh, because of the old, original guitar-wielding Noise Marines, and DOOMRIDER!
Besides which, I think Slaanesh has PR that's hard to top. When Chaos invades your planet, you have four possible causes of death, depending on who gets to you first.
Khorne? Cause of death: not enough blood in your neck.
Nurgle? Cause of death: too many maggots in your blood stream.
Tzeentch? Cause of death: too many mutations.
Slaanesh? Cause of death: too many orgasms.
I know which I'd choose.

How come none of the slaaneshi fans remember all the horrible stuff that happens to a world invaded by a slaaneshi army? Y'know the being ground up to make a new narcotic, the excruciating torture for someone else's amusement, the majority of the time it's not WOO sex party.
Anyway had to vote for Khorne, because on the off chance that you may beat a devotee in combat, you get all their stuff, sure 9/10 your gonna lose your head but at least it's not the 9/10 for what happens when slaanesh turns up.

Or, far more likely, a daemonic crab claw slicing you up. Death won't be instant. No, that wouldn't be excessive enough. It'll be drawn out, you'll be made to suffer quite a bit.
I'd say that, of all the gods to be invaded by, Nurgle is possibly the best. If you get infected by one of his plagues, you can simply swear allegiance to him, and become somewhat strengthened by his plagues rather than killed by them. Admittedly you may not get this option, and you'll still be horribly diseased and a plaything to a horrible god, but at least you've got a way out. Any other Chaos god will view the average citizen as far more disposable, I'd say.

All of the Chaos Gods power waxes and wanes, and it is all dependent on the goings on of the material universe. That said, with Khorne being in charge currently, what does his blood letting leave behind? Death, Corpses and Fecundity for Nurgle to feast on.
Logically, if Khorne continued to burn strong and eventually out, he'd leave nothing behind but corpses for Nurgle to reanimate.
This is why I put Nurgle "on the rise." Especially when you consider the placement of the other three.
Slaanesh is rising big.
Tzeentch has already been cast down, and is trying to regain his strength. So he's bottoming out.
Khorne is already on top and has no where to go but down.
That leaves Nurgle to rise with Slaanesh, until such a time that Slaanesh overtakes him.
Daemons codex. You got to read a lot into it to understand the nature of the warp at times. Just like the conversation going on elsewhere about "Chaos not as evil as you thought?" Turns out, no. A lot of people thought they were more evil, but it turns out they had some good moments from time to time too. Like Ahriman trying to free his legion from the Rubricae.
