I went and sold all my Khador about 250pts worth.

I'm not regretting it as I have about 100pts of Mercs to put together and paint still. But I was thinking about any other faction that I would want to start and I can't find one that I like aesthetically. I like the way Legion and Protectorate play but don't like the models. I can't see myself painting a bunch of tree hugging hippies so Circle is out, Trolls are kinda boring to me. So what on earth do I do?

I'm leaning towards getting all the Mercs and just calling it a day.

You mentioned Legion, Circle and Trolls have you thought about Skorne? A lot of people compare khador to them however it seems almost completely opposite, Khador likes the infantry and Skorne likes beasts probably more than any other army out there and with beast handlers run them very well. Also run the Posse better than Blindwater.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

I have always felt that skorne plays similar to menoth - lots of support pieces that make their units very lethal. Lots of synergy, lots of beast support. The bronzeback/gladiator combo with beast handlers are lethal, and you still get a good selection of really good infantry. Cetratii under xerxis can sit at DEF14/ARM24 with 8 health...

71 pts khador - 6 war casters
41 pts merc highborn - 3 warcasters

I'm going the Pokeman route and am going to collect them all. Why choose?

What's your opinion on Retribution? If I'm picking up Warmachine again they'd certainly be a candidate.

I love me some elephants. Skorne is a thing you could try. If Convergence wasn't out I'd be playing them for sure.

I hadn't even considered Ret. I might have to give them a look over.

I'm kinda leaning away from Skorne. I love the beasts but not so much the casters.

I'm not to sure about calling Circle a bunch of tree hugging hippies. I see them more along the lines of old Celtic druids who talk the trees into stabbing you in the face.

Ret though. They're elves so they're automatically a bunch of dirty tree hugging hippies.

Do tree hugging hippies support genocide of humanity?

Would that make Legion also tree hugging hippies since the majority are elves?

Well yeah. They're elves. It doesn't matter how much you try to polish something up, it can't get away from it's nature. Elves are all tree hugging hippies that need to die. It doesn't matter if PP gave them beards, the worlds shiniest turd is still a turd.

They're more along the lines of the dirty crystal carrying hippies who hang around the 'new age' section of Barnes & Noble to prove how open minded they are. They may not hug trees but they're still dirty hippies that need to die.

Obviously, you've never worked at Barnes and Noble. The only people who hang around the New Age section are teenagers on the weekends cause we employees and security tend to forget that section exists.

Worked at Hastings(1/3 book store, 1/3 music store, 1/3 movie/game store) in a college town for 2 years. We had a guy who came in reeking of Patchouli wearing a cloak every Friday night around 630pm hung around the new age section for an hour or two and would complain insesently whenever we didn't have whatever book he was 'looking' for that week. I don't remember ever ringing him up for anything. We had a couple of other 'regulars' who usually just bought incense and a book or two, but, maybe it was just my store.

I'm a fairly big nerd, and understand that there are a wide range of things that people are into, but come on. The guy basically screamed creeper whenever I saw him.

Our creeper was one of the employee's father. He'd sit in our chair section trying to take up-skirts of the girls sitting around him with his phone.

Book store customers are the reason I've given up on humanity, honestly. It's not the stupid questions, it's the complete lack of sense, such as parents who assume the kids' section is free day care and leave them there to go see a movie expecting the store to care/keep track for them then yell at the employees because they can't find their precious angel afterwards. Can't tell you how many parents our security(which are real police) have had to inform of how child abandonment laws work in Louisiana.

Usually starting with the words, "Ma'am, I could arrest you right now, and here's why..."

I wish we had security. We never really had problems with people leaving their kids as we didn't have a walled off kids section like B&N does. We did a lot of trade-in and used stuff, so what we had to look out for were people who would steal things and then come back into the store a few hours/days later and try to sell us back what they had stolen.

I suspected many but only ever caught three.

Well, my first question would be: What exactly are you looking for? Playstyle? Cost? aesthetics?

The second would be: Why did you sell your khadorans in the first place?

We can give you a list of all factions, but without knowing what you're looking for, there is really not much we can advice you on.

So to get more info:

Do you prefer warmachine or hordes?
Beasts/ Jacks or Infantry?
Glass cannon or hard to kill?
melee or ranged?
and is fluff/ asthetics rather important?
strong synergies or self sufficient troops?

I sold my Khador because a player at the store offered me a silly amount of money for it (over retail).
Aesthetics are just as important as play style because I get so few games in these days (4 kids) but I paint a few times a week and want to enjoy the models.
Cost isn't an issue as it will be collected over time. and I still have 100+ pts of Mercs to paint first.
I don;t really have a preference between WM and Hordes
I wouldn't mind playing beast/jack heavy for a change
Glass Cannon could be fun
Combo of Melee and Ranged
Couldn't care less about fluff
Synergies are fantastic (give me that good ole Rube Goldberg machine)

Protectorate is out as I just don't like the look of the modes, which sucks cuz I love the play style that they have.
Troll Bloods is just so plane Jane to in my opinion.
Not a huge fan of the Shark/Dragons that are Legion, but again love the play style.

Right now I am leaning towards Legion and Skorne.

Well in this case Skorne might acutally be the way to go!

They often play rather beast heavy, are resilient, buff reliant, can hit silly hard and since domination and gargantuans are even able to put up a rather decent ranged game ( and can finally deal with high def infantry)

On the other hand Skorne are pretty much the Hordes version of Khador. If you handed them over so easily (TRAITOR!!!) I reckon you might not like them either.

Handed them over so easily?!? I spent 2+ years painting that army. I was offered a bunch of money for them. I couldn't say no. I liked the way Khador played, but its like anything else sometimes you move on to new and shiny things.

The more I look at Skorne, the more I am leaning towards Circle or Legion. Its a silly thing but the Flags are turning me off of them.

Circle is a lot of fun. They look awesome, they are competetive and they play nothing like Khador.

Have you considered joining in the service of our one holy Dragonfather? We offer excellent benefits (post mortem) wth your first limb replacement free!

In all seriousness, have you thought about going full red headed stepchild and grabbing Minions?

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I had thought about Minions but already own a ton of Mercs, I want at least one "real" faction.

Cryx was my first army. I just got bored with them. I've been staring at the PP site for a while today and at this point its between Legion and Circle, I think Legion is going to win though for the simple fact that the Arch Angle is just soooooo pretty (yea I know its not the best in game)

Well after much deliberation, staring at the models on PP and coolmini, reading and watching battle reports. I have decided on Legion.
