I mean, all the time I see Necrons, mostly in Dawn of War, they are sleeping in the area that the other races are fighting over, so the Necrons wake up, start getting their gak together, and kill everything.

I haven't seen any scenarios where the Necrons are invading, they are basically defending their turf. Thats all I see in fluff.

I would think that when Necrons actually are the ones invading, they would OWN, amirite?

Destroy to create. Wreak havoc upon the infrastructure and bring life anew. Break through all barriers to realize there were no barriers. Realize there were only treacherous games. Learn the entirety of the game. Find the game makers; find the dick traitors/dictators.
Explode unto thy betrayers - ruin all their materials, dethrone and desecrate their persona, crush and manipulate their force, squeeze and torture their ideals to redirect their goals so as to dominate their souls, extract and perfect their fear so as to mitigate their strength and amplify their weakness.
Cut out the sickness, then imprison the wardens. Sing the song blood red and true. Create their destruction.
All for the hunt to dominate.

I highly recommend reading Imperial Armour Vol 12: The Fall of Orpheus.
It does a fantastic job of showcasing a Necron invasion of an entire Imperial sector.

Hah, IA12 explains precisely what happens when a Necron force goes on the offensive.

It's probably hyperbole, but I'd say 'defending their turf' is essentially what they do in every encounter since they pretty much owned the galaxy at one point.

Also, there are many descriptions in pre-IA12 where Necrons go on the offensive. Not sure why you think their only appearances are when a war on the surface of a tomb world is occurring, that isn't the case.

I believe they wear rebreathers because on Kreig, the atmosphere is irradiated and unsafe to breath without. They just get used to wearing them 24/7. I could be wrong, though.

lol, yeah a Necron invasion is them waking up and taking their shizzle back. XD

As living metal though, their vulnerable to atmospheric effects? :O

Don't get me wrong, I like the 'Crons, but I don't think they are as solid as many people credit them for. In fact, I've just come up with a theory that explains much of the races in the universe, in the context of Chaos that i'll be putting together shortly.

Oh feth can't wait to read that. You've posted some interesting gak, that go along the lines like this:

"Early man learned very quickly that the Jungles and Deserts were terrible places to be where he could die at the drop of a hat and for no reason, let alone to the panther or the buffalo. He also knew that sometimes, they just didn't care, and until Prometheus enacted his bastardization of the Luciferian Teachings and created the first Religion through the harnessing and control of fire, this is how man lives. Foraging by day. Avoidance by night.

Now a days, through that bastardization of the First Religion, Man fights amongst himself and no longer hides. The Fence grew, and now we're the only animals left on the planet, realistically speaking. Everything on this planet, including man himself, is at crisis because of these destructive behaviors and habits.

How does this tie into Close Combat? What I'm describing is why Close Combat even exists in the first place. Think about it: It Exists. Why? This is symptomatic of a greater mental disease that afflicts our species and it came with the illusion of intelligence, separation from the nature, and our constant (and often times fruitless) searching for "the meaning of it all."

Makes sense to me.

Pretty much they owned a ton of planets before any other current race came about and they just took a nap, woke up and found their shizz all messed up so now they are trying to get it back.

Ha! That came out of nowhere. lol

Yeah, I've got some pretty profound moments from time to time. The things I've learned in my short life would make some peoples hair turn white. Some are so distant from some of these ideas that they can't even recognize them as anything more than insane babble.

lol. It's ok! I don't let people twist in the wind when they seek out knowledge. Ask, and I am a font to whoever desires such information. Sources and all.

I keep no secrets. On that note, if these kinds of rants are appealing to some, I may have to start a blog or some such noise with these kinds of points. I've got enough of them. Hell, I even went so far as to "create" (subject to further investigation) a Theory of the Infinite, which I do not have notes in front of me at this time to properly explain.

Such is my nature.

It's like if you go to bed and wake up the next morning to find cockroaches in your kitchen: you're upset and want to reclaim your territory from the pests.

That's how the Necrons see settlers on the planets they used to rule: as pests and scavengers. Necrons do not apply their concepts of morality in these situations because pests don't deserve that sort of consideration, just extermination.

I really quite intensely hate that passage. I'm fine with it fluff-wise, but "solar month" doesn't mean anything. A solar day, a solar year, but weeks and months are arbitrary things dependent on individual calender systems.

I like the idea it's a Necron Solar month. An abitrary length of time, decided by the necrons and not briefed out to the lesser races.
Just to feth with them.

It's like saying 'at the appropriate quadrangle, our forces will annihilate your world'

'Whats a quadrangle?'
'18 Hypoglyphs'
'Eh? So when are you attacki *Boom* - transmission ends'
World lost to the necrons.

I agree completely. There's something about the Necron's snootieness that I find amusing. It's almost like even THEY don't know how long those time spans actually are. They're just making things up to further confudle the lesser races.

I always interpreted that quote with the solar month warning to be said in the context of that particular planet's calendar system. You don't really expect them to go into detail about that sort of stuff in a small blurb do you? There's an implication that their warning was relative to Dhol VI's calendar, at least in my opinion . . .

IA 12 is probably the worst case scenario in terms of Necrons waking up. It probably wouldn't be as bad as that for most Necron awakenings, but it would still be pretty bad.

Nah, the air on Krieg is poisonous so they have have to wear those, but they even wear them when not on Krieg because it makes them look cool.
It also makes them look all the same, anonymous and less personal, which is important to those Krieg loonies for some over the top grimdark reason or another

The necrom in Orpheus are quite good. I like the scene where they have counsils with the human representative and some of the nevrons are flayed once.

Also, the smoke screen of deleyed times is good.

Also there is an exerpt towards the end where an inquisitor intergetas a soldier that enda on a high note. :-)
