hi, im looking for someone to either suggest a competitive list or send me a link to a list which consists of imperial guard with ba or da allies, thx
id like to be able to use the list in a competitive setting, including minor tournaments
ive been exploring ideas of multiple Vendettas, blob squads with azrael for 4++, blob squads with librarians, but ive had trouble narrowing down a solid list, so im open to all suggestions
thanks
Automatically Appended Next Post: oh, and point value im looking for is either 1500 or 1750

Well mate,
If you are looking for someone to make you an Army List, there is a nice thing called Google and the DakkaDakka search engine, try those out perhaps?
Search Keywords: "Imperial Guard, Mechvet, air cav," etc
Tip: Most people like it if you do some digging yourself.
OR
Post a list and people will then give it critique and help you make it Over Powered as Swiss Noodle Cheese.

bike squad
plasmagun, sarge with power weapon, idk what yet

It is over 30 points
imperial guard primary- 820pts
hq-
ccs with master of ordnance for blast and astropath for reserves?
elites-
guardsmen marbo- for taking out a tank or somin?
troops-
veteran squad, for a vendetta, 3 plasma guns
veteran squad for a vendetta, 3 plasma guns
veteran squad in a chimera, 3 meltaguns
These are all fine, just it is preferred to switch the plasma guns to the chimeras and the meltas to vendettas. (Will shave exactly 30 points If I am not Mistaken)
fast attack-
vendetta, lascannons, hb sponsons
vendetta, lascannons, hb sponsons
Sure, but the Heavy bolters? Counter intuitive unless they are to save your lascannons from blowing up. Use the 20 points elswehere
Blood angels allies-655pts
hq-
librarian,jump pack
elites-
sanguinary priest, jump pack, chainsword
troops-
assault squad
2x meltaguns
sarge with power axe and melta bombs
I am assuming the marines got Jump Packs too? If not, get them those. The Blood Angel Leaders are getting lonely and will die from that loneliness once there are too many party favors being shot at them for them to withstand by themselves. If you use them to hop being the chimeras as they drive up like My Stormboys do with Battlewagons, it could work.
fast attack-
bike squad
plasmagun, sarge with power weapon, idk what yet
If you take Bikes, give them Meltaguns, that is what we love em for, Am I Right?
Inquisition detachment-56pts
hq-
ordo malleus-carapace, servo skull, accompany chimera vets, easy vendetta or assault marine insertion
ordo malleus- carapace, servo skull, idk yet...
Well, Inquisitors cannot go into transports of your other detachments, so no. Do not take these, there is no point. One would make sense in the assault squad, but if you have Jump-Pack HQ, you should have the Assault Marines with Packs too to accompany the boss. (And the Inquistor cannot take a pack, so drop these fellers for more points)
With all the points you save you can actually take IG units like the Leman Russ to lead the spearhead of chimeras, more men, or artillery fer fun.
thanks guys
No problems, a bit easier than making noodles out of cheese.
Cheers,
DaK

Hey I know your pain, so I'll help you out again mate.
chaplain iktinos wrote:ok, thanks alot, ive made the changes you recommended, took out the attack bike, and added a manticore and a leman russ battle tanks...
Don't always do this, do what you think would work, try it and go from there.
hq-
ccs with master of ordnance for blast and astropath for reserves
elites-
guardsmen marbo- for taking out a tank
You might want to have plasmaguns and Chimera instead of the MoO, I feel like they will be killed off easily unless you have a lot of meatshields or Aegis. (find the points somehow)
Heavy Support
leman russ battle tank, stock
manticore battery- idk what for...but ive been told their good
Manticore? Yeah it is good, but if it is not really helping your list, you might use those points elsewhere. Though with these things, I think they always help.
troops-
assault squad
1x melta gun
1x flamer
sarge with chainsword and melta bombs
Again, do they or do they not have jumpacks? I only ask because I think you can take them without. If they do have jumpacks GOOD.
And a note on the pushy and hitting page 4:
I give up on my army list as soon as it hits Page 2.5
(Usually means that either I did something wrong in my syntax, it is a hopeless mess, or the perfect list)
I recommend that when this post goes to page 3, make a new post with your new army list and then make the title "Trying to make competitive Imperial Guard with allies (point totals etc)" Being more specific in the subject helps a TON. And then in your post with the list, talk about your tactics with the list itself and ask for C&C.
Cheers,
DaK

Yeah, that would be good.
My CCS in my list has an Astropath, but that does not stop them from using plasmaguns in a chimera. (As soon as my 3 reserved units come in, Astropath just becomes an expendable wound)
As for the lascannon, make sure it would shoot what the MoO would shoot at. Are you taking the CCS with MoO for the Pi-plate and that is it? You have enough* of that from your Marbo, Manticore, and LRBT alone. It is not all that necessary, so using the 30 points for melta/plasma instead would make the CCS way more useful when you also add a chimera for them. They also suddenly become the spearhad of your Vetmera assault, while the LRBT is the rear throwing Str8 Pi-plates into the ex-passengers.
YMMV
*Enough is used VERY loosely

What do the BA do for your force? That's 400 points invested into a single 12-man unit. 400 points can get you so much more than a mediocre assault unit.
Here is my 1500 point IG/ SW tournament list, to give you an idea of what gaps allies can fill:
Imperial Guard Primary Detachment
Company Command Squad 165
-4 Plasmaguns, Chimera
Veteran Squad 155
-3 Meltaguns, Chimera
Platoon Command Squad 50 (rides in a Vendetta)
-4 Flamers
2x Infantry Squad 120
-Autocannon
Vendetta 130
Vendetta 130
Leman Russ 150
Leman Russ 150
Space Wolves Allied Detachment
Rune Priest 100
-Divination
8 Grey Hunters 160 (Rune Priest goes here)
-Meltagun, Rhino
10 Grey Hunters 190
-2 Meltaguns, Rhino
Total: 1,500
The Space Wolves add mobile and durable scoring units, great psychic defense, and close combat threats. Grey Hunters are a fantastic and versatile unit that can reliably damage just about anything.
If you really want to take BA allies, I would recommend taking 2 units of 10 Assault Marines to make the Sanguinary Priest worth it.

The 25-man squad does not ride in the Vendetta, only the Platoon Command squad (5 models) does. The two infantry squads combine to form a 20-man squad. There is one Autocannon per infantry squad (2 total). I only add regimental advisers if I have extra points left or if I really need to modify reserves. The Master of Ordnance has always felt lackluster to me. If I took any of them it would be an Astropath to buff my reserves. I've had pretty good success with this list so far. It's balance makes for a good TAC list. Depending on your local meta you may want to switch around some special weapons. 75% of my local games are against Marines, so that is primarily what my list is designed to handle. Use it if you want, but I would recommend making minor changes to suit your area. The only thing I really want more of in this list is ranged S7-9 firepower. At 1,750 or 1,850 point games I always add a full pack of Long Fangs with Missile Launchers or Lascannons. Remember, taking a tournament list won't make you automatically win games. It's all in how you play. Both the IG and SW codecies are from last edition and are a little outdated, so there definitely are more powerful lists out there (Eldar/Tau, Daemon Screamerstar, CSM Heldrakes, etc).

As you scale up in points I would also add a Special Weapon Squad with 3 Demolition Charges to ride in the second Vendetta. This squad can clear an objective pretty reliably and will give you some additional AP2. It is well worth 90 points, imo. So to scale to 1,750, simply add: Special Weapons Squad 90 (part of the Infantry Platoon; rides in a Vendetta) -3 Demolition Charges 6 Long Fangs 140 -5 Missile Launchers And a Wolf Standard for each Grey Hunter pack. Puts you right at 1,750.

The Wolf Standard lets the unit re-roll all 1's for a turn (once per game). It's a great piece of wargear. It would be best if you create your own list; I was sharing mine just to give you some ideas.
You can definitely take allies from DA or BA, but those armies fulfill very different roles. BA can add some fast, armored tanks to the list or add Assault Marines as a counter-assault unit. DA can add anything from scoring bikes and Terminators to PFG equipped characters.
If you come up with a ~1,000 point IG army list that you like I can help you in selecting the right allies to fill the gaps.

Plasma Vets go better in Chimeras...Melta Vets go better in Vendettas.
If you're paying all those points for Plasma Guns you want to be able to use their range starting T1 or T2. If you're using Melta Guns, you want to be able to capitalize on their 2d6 to pen vehicles.
Your points costs are off btw. Check your vets.

For another 480 points you can as White Scar Allies. They are very fun and competitive.
Chapter Master - 215 pts
Bike, TH, AA, SS
Bike Squad x 5 Man - 125 pts
2x Melta Gun
Bike Squad x 5 Man - 125 pts
2x Melta Gun
THat leaves 15 points

I would go this route, but I would take the Shield Eternal instead of a normal Storm Shield on the Chapter Master. Drop the Astropath for the points.
Grav-Guns would work better than Melta in this list. You have plenty of Melta with your Veterans.

I would give both squads 2 Grav-Guns. Maybe even a Combi-Grav for both Sergeants. You can never have too many special weapons, lol.
The Shield Eternal should be purchased instead of Combi-Gravs, though. Your Captain will be a CC monster with that loadout.

He wanted to be at 480 points so I put a less than optimal list. Here is a list that will bring you to 1750.
730 Points
Chapter Master - 250 pts
Bike, TH, AA, SoE
Bike Squad x 5 Man - 145 pts
2x Grav Gun
Bike Squad x 5 Man - 145 pts
2x Grav Gun
This leaves 175 points left.
With this you can add either...
- 3x Attack Bikes w/ Multi Meltas and a combi weapon on somebody
or
-5x Man Sternguard w/ 2 Combi Weapons in a Drop Pod
