So I was just sitting here pondering on the war-hammer 40k universe, all the races and back stories and armies and ALL the possibility's. But I twisted off of that and started thinking about all of you! What army is your pride and joy? Which one have you spent nights trying to get painted and days trying to come up with a great back story for? What does the color scheme signify and why? Come on! I want to nudge all of your inner nerds out and actually talk about why your army is the way it is!! I'll even go first...

I play CSM so my chaos warband stems from that of a Blood Angels chapter. They still possessing their green eyes and red armor in places, but are a deep midnight blue now representing how stained they have become and how far they are willing to fall for their new masters! I call them my Soulless

I am changed . . . an outcast now.

I find this a hard one, probably each of my armies as they reach their painting conclusions. The Imperial Guard because I love the back story I have written for them (a somewhat suicidal Specialist pretending to be a Commisar), but now I am attached to my Iron Hands as they are almost finished and then it will be my Empire Knightly Order as they are on the painting list next. I just can't stop myself moving onwards and upwards. Yes I am an addict, I have a problem.

See My Crazy Army plan here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/521618.page#5517409

My CSM Emperor's Children warband, The Unfettered. All units sport stylish black armour with golden trims and profuse amounts of pink patches that renders it impossible to confuse them with the Black Legion. Some of my Noise Marines have heads and shoulder pads from Kromlech to add variety and make them look even more like they should.

I've bought an EC Sonic Dreadnought with Blastmaster, and he looks great beside the NMs

I'm also very proud of my Chaos Terminator Death Squad and their Terminator Chaos Lord leader. Each Terminator has a different head and pose, so there are no "twins" amongst them. Also, they're such an eye candy with my paint scheme

For me, there's two things that I love putting on the table.

My IG army has by far the most developed fluff and background of any of my armies, pretty much each unit has it's own fluff and characters.

My Ultramarines are also very enjoyable. The fluff is more strictly adhered to (all weapons as per the 2nd Co diagram in the codex) and every model has freehand insignias and markings.

There are also a few models that I just enjoy using. My Blood Angels Land Raider is probably the centrepiece I'm most proud of, thanks to the freehand and paintjob being one of my best. Similarly, my IG LRBT is another model I'm particularly proud of.

Right now,my nurgle daemons.

They are all painted, based, and the characters and units named.

They have fluff and some tally marks from in-game kills.

I'm loving them. I got them as a painting and modelling project, but they are fun to play too.

Now i just need five beasts and a soul grinder, and they're done.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

It would be my Tau Farsight Enclave. I keep this army very fluffy and go to great lengths to constantly find ways to make it look unique. It is barely painted at the moment since I'm still testing out colour schemes. The army is on hold due to the rumoured finecast stoppage - my plan is to have all the XV8s converted from commander farsight (3 done so far). I would much rather work with forgeworld resin though - hopefully forgeworld does end up producing farsight in Jan/Feb.

I have plans for a DKoK assault brigade list jammed with grenadiers and tanks. I'll probably make that purchase once the whole finecast thing gets resolved.

Esteemed Veteran Space Marine

My secret fortress at the base of the volcano!

ALL of my armies. It is for this reason that I haven't played a game in a dog's age, because every time I feel that I have progressed as a painter and modeller, I have to go back and re-paint/re-model my armies. Check my sig... that's what I'm talking about there. I have three 40K armies that are being repainted and re-worked (and I've added a further two AND a WHFB army on top). I won't play with models that I don't feel look as good as I can make them look, so I stop playing until I'm done making everything sexy again.

Now, maybe if I would focus on one project at a time and get each army done in turn, then I could play a bit more... but my cartoonishly short attention span has me working on all my armies at once (and starting new ones, and playing video games, and posting on internet forums)... its a wonder I ever get anything done.

Emperor's Eagles (undergoing Chapter reorganization)
Caledonian 95th (undergoing regimental reorganization)
Thousands Sons (undergoing Warband re--- wait, are any of my 40K armies playable?)

For me, my Blood Angels. I loved them since Epic Space Marine. They are actually my second 40K army - I was always afraid to even try painting them. I just recently finished a collection of HQ/Characters, including older OOP models (which I relish painting with more current schemes and techniques). This is my pride and joy:

My pride and joy is my main (and first) army: an Iron Warriors Grand Company. I don't paint my models often, I'm more of a modeller/converter, and write megatons of fluff. My Warsmith is Malachi Rosenstein, former Captain of the Imperial Fists 5th Company. He turned his back on the Imperium after the defense of an Adeptas Sororitas convent went disasterously wrong, and his lover, Cannoness Genevieve Aumône of the Order of the Black Rose, was gravely injured. He fled to the Maelstrom, gained a companion in a wayward sorcerer named Enoch, joined a small Iron Warriors contingent that split from Warsmith Honsou's Bloodborn army, and rose quickly to become the Warsmith of his current company and also single-handedly won Huron Blackheart's Skull Harvest soon after. As such, he gained control of a myriad of other Chaos warbands - each are dedicated to a different God with leaders of each, a large group of Last Chancer-style mercenaries led by a former Rogue Trader and his children, and an Ork warband led by a Mekboy with a love for flying. He takes in renegades from every space marine chapter (represented in the modelling side by using the shoulder symbols and pads of random loyalist chapters, and some loyalist equipment with desecrated iconography), and has a particularly high number of former Iron Hands, Space Wolves and Imperial Fists among his ranks. He embarks on a quest to ruin the Imperial rule over Ultima Segmentum, all the while pining for his lover whom he is determined to convert to the ruinous powers. I could say more but I don't wish to bore.

My modeling pride comes from my Tau Commander. Using the commander crisis suit i modeled him as a Mark'O because thats how i always run him. He's currently floating(instead of that retartded "i just got here" pose they made for him) pointing at his next target, hes a work in progress and I want to have him holding a chain of skulls(think the movie 300) of varying races.

Why? Because its gonna be awesome and strike fear into opponents!! lol

Tyranids will consume the universe!!! There is no chance for survival!!

Well thanks! I've been designing it all since January (when I got into the hobby full time) and I've been adding more and more over time, mainly to justify coversions and ally choices, and it's been a journey and a half I tell you. I can share more if you wish.

I just finished kit-bashing a Terminator Chaplain. I am extremely pleased with the way he came out. Scroll cases from random marine sprues, combi-flamer from the finecast Sternguard vetran sprue, head from the Lord Exicutioner, prayer book and crozious from a metal chaplain on a bike and body from AoBR.

Painted him bone white to go with the back story of the home-brew I am doing.
The Chaplains believe they are just a voice for the Emperor. Therefore, they paint their armor the white of bones so they look like the embodied voice instead of a chaplain talking what he thinks the emperor wants. Yes, I stole the idea straight from the Deathwing Knights. I like it. So I made it fit. He also looks pretty swank if I say so myself.

Its a game, have fun. If you arent for some reason...find a new one.

My Exorcist. It's not even painted, but everyone always compliments it when they see it on the field.

Eventually I'm going to have my entire AS army painted and named, but that'll take time (and money. A lot of money.)

A model that springs to mind is my terminator with a CML. I was very pleased with how his pose came out, and with the leather tabard piece from the SM commander set complimenting it, and a decent paint job, are all reasons I like him.

In terms of armies, I'll have to say my CSM; a Tzeentchian pirate warband called the Witchers. Came up with the colour scheme myself and named all of my current HQs, along with writing up the fluff. Not sure how much I may or may not have zogged it up, but it's mine.

For decades, I wanted a guard army. A few years ago when apoc first came out, they had the guard company infantry bundle. my GF at the time bought it for me for Christmas and over the years since then, I have put all of my heart into painting it. How many guard players do you know that paints every last single guy as though he is a special character lol

Every Tank I have is modified to some extent.

Each Leman Russ has a name and has been customized extensively with experimental weapon systems or salvaged.

Every Super Heavy is the customized just as much.

No one tank is the same. Each is unique. Tesla Tank, Sonic Cannon, Hover Tank, Spider Tank, Quantum Annihilation Cannon Tank, Nuclear shaped Charge projector tank, Geo-Disruptor System, Chrono tank. it goes on and on.

even the smaller vehicles get tinkered with.
Cobbled together truck works as a Chimera. Chimera modified with Hover tech to float along the battlefield, an Agricultural Tractor modified into a Banewolf, etc.

That and I have my own "Space Marines", which are highly trained troops equipped with prototype exo-suits.

Im proud of my whole army.
