I want to make a squad of NM with all cc weapons and Icon but I'm curious as to how they fair against other units. I understand that they are no PM but with the added I and the Icon I think they could be pretty brutal in squads of 12-15 but whats your take?

I've run a cc squad of fifteen.

I had lucius in there too - 2 doom sirens ruins meq squads enough so that you can beat them in cc.
I stuck FNP on them too. it won me a couple of games but overall lacked enough punch for me. You'll beat down all but dedicated cc squads and 2+'s.

TLDR - its a nice squad, but not world beating. But it was fun

No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.

Sounds like they can wreck face...but what is your plan to get them into CQB?

While they are singing "what a friend we have in the greater good", we are bringing the pain!

A cunning plan... The 'Daylight charge over the minefield!'

With fnp, that squad could tank a surprising amount of shooting. It could still beat a tac squad in cc even after losing eight or so marines, cos two doom sirens ruin meq's. It only went after marines and worse. Dedicated cc squads would probably beat it anyway. I also stuck a load of bolters in there just so I had something to fire on the way over. I was thinking about adding a lord with the burning brand for 3 D3 ap3 flamers on overwatch before I moved onto an Abby and ternie list

I see, I'm running a squad of 7 NM with cc weapons and a power sword on the champ and I'm attaching my sorcerer tzeentch with a FS, spell familiar and three lvls of mastery

You can't attach a unit with Mark of Tzeentch to a unit with Mark of Slaanesh.

An independent character can't join a squad with a different mark I'm afraid, although you could run a slaanesh sorc instead?

This reminds me of both Red Dwarf and Blackadder.

A Slaanesh sorc with Mastery Level 3 would be sweet to run with them; roll for Hysterical Frenzy and put the rest into Telepathy/Biomancy, and give him the Murder Sword and a Sigil of Corruption for a 4++. They really would beat face; it's better to hit first than hit hardest in my opinion. If you hit first against a big mob of Slugga Boyz, they're gonna get sliced unless there's a LOT... or a bosspole.

And thats all that needs to be said. Its a very fun unit. You just don't throw them at things they can't win against, but the good news is that they will win against a lot of what is out there. Always take the Doom Siren on the Champ. It makes the ensuing combat easier and makes people think twice about charging you. I'd also recommend taking a Lightning Claw on the champ. I5 is too good to waste and again, this unit shouldn't be targeting 2+ save guys anyway so if played to its strength, its rarely wasted points.

I rock a 12 man squad, 2 blastmasters, all sonic weapons, doom siren, ccw, fnp and pretty much everything else i can give them. its a massive 340 odd point group but i infiltrate them via ahriman.

fyi my warband has 1ksons and NM as troops

I prefer them in cheap squads of 5-6 with Blastmaster behind aegis/in bastion as home-objective holderswith decent long-ranged firepower.
