I am curious on your opinion. It looks like a really cool model but I think it will get popped pretty easily with only being 10/10/10. The storm battery seems pretty fun but I think the range sucks on it. Just looking for your opinion on it. If you play with one or several what do you think of it and how do you use it? I've proxied it a few times because when i first got back into 40k and picked up DA, it looked like a neat model and looked like it had spiffy rules.

It just dies very easy, and is hugely expensive for what it is / what it does (both in points and $$$ wise).


YMMV, i know of people who play and like them.

It's too expensive. A Leman Russ Executioner is 45 points more, has MUCH better armor, and its weapon gets 12" better range, doesn't get hot, and fires in a mode sort of between the two Vengeance fire modes (i.e., 3 shots, but always with small blast).

It would be pretty good at maybe 120-130, but at its current price it's a bit much. It's twice as expensive as a Multi-Melta / Heavy Flamer speeder (used to be, anyway).

I used a vengence for the first time last week. And I was underwhelmed.

If it had a 36" range on the plasma storm battery it would be another story, but its just too big a glass hammer. Take a vindicator or whirlwind instead if you need a heavy support template dropper.

Now the Darkshroud on the other hand, I've used effectively, improving the jink save for Black Knights...

Total waste of points, it's a shame as I love the model

Was its range its only failings?

It doesn't help that it has the same paper armor as other Land speeders but is much larger, still only has 2 HP, and has decent odds of losing a hull point or two from overheats over the course of a game.

Yeah, the three or so times I've played against it it has died some rather stupid deaths. First time it fired it killed it self.

Second time I played against it some hormagaunts charged it w/ glands and killed it easy.

Third time it was out of range for 2/3 of the game, then got killed by a predator.

Thanks for the advice on the FW item. I just seems so silly to me that they even have vehicles like the LSV in the game. Especially if it can't do gak. I am new to the game so maybe this is a trend, but I have to say it is a stupid trend.
