Death from the skies may be a bad comparison as it added units to the codices which were official. I had been lead to believe that it would be like inquisition supplement rather than Cities of Death. If it is like cities of death it is less interesting than if it were like death from the skies.

I am looking forward to having a use for my Gorgon. Great model but absolutely useless in Apoc games. Way to much S10 and D for it to get anywhere.

Then again, it would make it easier for people to actually get to use their super heavies, so that's cool.

Dunno, just like Forge World, I would expect a "heads-up" before somebody brings a Spearhead formation or a Planet-Strike-Elite Slot or a "Lords of War" Super Heavy. That's the entire debate, no? That Forge World guys keep arguing that Forge World is somehow "more" regular 40K than even GW's Spearhead, Cities of Death, etc.. and somehow doesn't require that kind of "advance courtesy notice" that these kind of books clearly do.

I'm with you on this, I covered it in my hh review under "etetiquette" you simply cannot drop a primarch or a superheavy on someone and expect it to fly, pre game discussion is a must these days

Seeing as myself and 3 other people are the only players in our area that actually own super heavies, I highly doubt anyone, except the 4 of us that own super heavies, will ever want to play against us.

In general, this is a supplement. Players can choose to play with these rules or not, just like apocalypse. I feel the same goes for FW models/rules since FW stuff is a bit harder to come by.

Seeing as no one has actually read these books, its kind of difficult to have an actual discussion of what these books does for "normal" 40K games, if there is such a thing.

Honestly you could replace "Forge World" with anything in that paragraph and it's still just as valid. All players should be 100% up front with what they want to play, what rules they want to us and so on. It shouldn't apply more to stuff like FW than stuff that comes form codexes, it should apply to all books, all supplements, all the time. The less we assume about the games we're going to play and the more we communicate what we really want to be playing the better our games are, and the more fun we have be it with, or without FW.

:: sighs and curls up and snuggles her fox plush toy :: I don't see the point of posting early info anymore. I used to enjoy speculating, but now that I've been on the other side of that info... All it got me was feeling like I was being called a liar when people referred to my posts as rumors, and being unable to back up my posts with photos due to threat of having my photobucket account banned for copyright infringement...

And it's not like anyone believes it anyways, until it goes on pre-order. It doesn't help that I know that that's a completely valid stance to take.

So I don't think I'll be posting any more early leaks as a result of getting my WD early. Not worth the trouble. Not worth feeling like I'm being called a liar.

This won't sway the Forgeworld argument, Vendettas are in the IG book, as are Manticores and Hydra Flakk tanks.. didn't change anyone's minds.

Let's just settle on it being unsettled, even a thread to talk about positives ends up degrading into the same old argument.

So just make a new account to post the pictures. Throwaway email address to register, throwaway image hosting account, post all the copyrighted pictures you want.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I don't think it makes a difference. FW was always part of GW. It is the same company. FW is just a different GW website that sells 'special' extra expensive models.

I am looking forward to being able to use my CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT more often. I just adore that model.
I am not sure if it would unbalance the game. Superheavies are really powerful, but they take up most of you points budget in smaller games.
I can imagine that it will go pretty much like this:

gahhhhhhhhhhhh you ninja'd me. I wanted to make a post about how many CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORTS I could bring to my normal battles! now my CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT post will go unheard!

Anyways, I think it could be fun for larger battles.

Nope. Allowable in all standard 40k games. Codex not supplement.

A Codex IS a (kind of) supplement too. Says it right on my Space Marines Codex too. "A Supplement for Warhammer 40.000"

Just sayin', Cities of Death originally began in 4th edition as Codex Battlezone: Cityfight.

If they let me play my two Sicaran tanks in 40K, I'm all for it. That thing is just sick!

Oh, and the idea of playing my Fellblade in 40K...

There's already rules for FW in regular games out there
Just look at the FW dowloads section.
So I never understand why the FW/GW compatible argument ever happens

Regarding the Escalation I'm not a fan.
Only because my local meta is really competitive and whilst this is good the addition of super heavies is going to make it the person willing to spend the most money wins (IMO)

Lords of War appeared in the Horus Heresy books by Forgeworld. If the Lords of War are similar then the main restriction is that the Lords of War cannot account for more than 25% of the total points of the army. So escalation probably isn't meant to be played below 2000 points. It sounds like it might be a fun expansion but it is still just an expansion.

Well, 25% would be a decent compromise. Superheavies cost 300 to 800 pts - the Obelisk is rather cheap, the Stompa is rather expensive, while the Baneblade pattern tanks lie somewhere in the middle.

Agreed. And nowhere did I say it applies. More. All I said is it applies.... including to Forge World. Wanna play Forge World? Give people a heads-up!!! They say no, respect that. Simple enough.

Proves my point, no? Trying to turn this argument on the GW terminology of "Codex", "Supplement", "Expansion", whatever is not gonna work. Codex: Space Marines is a Supplement. Apocalypse 40K is a Supplement. Though different games might use one, or the other, or both. If you are unsure what's being played, ... there's really only one possible solution: Ask!!!!!!
