I can't seem to build a competitive build with what I have. I recently started playing and can't seem to find a good rhythm. Well I'll list my entire inventory, hope I have enough to make something decent. Any tips would help. 1750pts/ Probably range type of player, although I do like melee from time to time. I like salamander and iron hands

What kind of points list are you looking for?

Also it seems like you have enough models to build really any list, minus drop pods

Not only do you need to supply the points you'd like to see built, but you need to state how you like to play. Do you like in your face builds? Or sit back and dig in builds? Happy medium between those two? You need to supply some more info to get help.

You have many models and can build various lists but not a specific list (for example white scar bikes or SM air force)
Salamanders require drop pods to play at their strength, so i would recommend Iron Hands (marines with extra resilience!)

I would play the game of "many boots on the ground and you will have a hard time taking them down"

Librarian
3 Tac squads in Rhinos (mostly meltas, MMs)
1 sternguard squad in Rhino (no combi-weapons)
2 Stormtalons skyhammer ML
1 Bike squad full gravs
4 grav centurions
Stormraven AC, MM and hurricane bolters

You can calculate costs, but with some tweaking it will come around 1850
It covers pretty well most bases(scoring bodies, anti-air, -horde, -vehicle, -MC, -elite infantry
What i believe you need is more transports for the marines. While Vehicles are not what they used to be, marines certainly need their metal coffins. Even if it takes them 18" away first turn and then blows up.

Hmm he could go landraider spam. AV14 will catch some people out. Dunno but I think it will be a long painful road being competitive running termis.

You could do a rreally nice AV12/13/14 mobile IH list.

Not pointed it up but something like this could be a fun:
1 Chap. Terminator.

10 tac ML
10 tac ML w/Rhino
10 tac PC/PG w/Rhino

1 IronClad
5 TH/SS
5 vanguard 2 with PF/LC combo sgt with relic blade

6 bikes
2 storm talon

1 Stormraven
3 Grav Centurions

Stormraven has a choice of cargo probably Ironclad+Termis which can hit the table anywhere in 36" of the board edge on arrival. The Talons run escort on the Raven and the Vanguard. You have T5 FnP bikers, Regen. vehicles.

3 sets of tough troops with decent mobility, and an AV12 plasma box.

That is a very good question. Bikes seem to be the rage because they have better toughness.

I know Space Marines are supposed to be easy to play and all. But there is so much heavy firepower out there from Eldar etc, to play SM well needs some serious skill(which I lack XD).

This is 1746 Points. Devastators hide in the back bringing pain down. Scouts occupy a back objective. Land Raider w/ Termis and Chaplain go forward assaulting a scary unit with the Librarian coming if he wants. The Plasma Tac Squad tries to get an objective and spits out plasma shots. The Flamer Tac is there to kill hordes/ go up forward and be aggressive. The Plasma bikes put out plasma shots. The Stormtalons are to control fliers.

If you're in a freindly gaming group why not try a successor chapter, i play raptors who are a raven guard successor chapter and they suit me down to the ground, exactly my style of play and their are some powerful chapter tactics out there. failing that grav gun bikers, podding sternguard with combis and the good old thunderfire cannon are all good investments, although i never fare well with the tfc

The list Feasible gave you is well balanced and tac. You have all those models. Just roll with that for a while before you buy more and confuse yoursel further.

Iron Hands (Raukaan):

1 MotF w/ ironstone (warlord)

1 Chap term w/ gorgon's chain

6 A Term 4 TH/SS 2 LC

1 LRC

10 Tac w/ melta and rhino

10 Tac w/ melta and rhino

6 Dev Cents w/ grav cannon

White Scars:

1 Ahazra Redth

5 Scouts w/ snipe

5 Bikes w/ 2 grav guns sgt w/ melta bomb

Idea is have the MotF, Chap, and terms in the LRC.

Ahazra with the Cents giving them night vision, prescience, intercept, and shrouded.

Tacs will be combat squad inside the rhino.

The LRC and bikes push fast and harass. The cents follow up and also deal with any reserves. The Rhino's can drop Tac on strat points and harass with the last 5 with the melta. Any thoughts or tips?
