Subject: Question for studios or people that enjoy Painting

I was curious how far fetched it would be to ask if anyone would donate their time/services. I want to pick up a second army but cannot paint one myself and can't afford some of the painted armies unless they look like crap. i can't paint myself because I was involved in an accident and have paralysis that includes my hands. I type on an ipad with a stylus pen strapped to my hand.
I would be willing to cover supplies, shipping and beer money at minimum, but that's about it before a decent army becomes too expensive.

What army and how many models were you thinking? I wouldn't be able to help you out, but anyone who can will want to know those specifics. Good luck.

At the risk of sounding insensitive, I think this is pretty far fetched. Sure you may find someone, but I think the odds are pretty slim. I have donated painted miniatures and armies to raffles and such(like clash for the cure), but I feel like this is somewhat different.

I am not sure what, but something about your statement kind f rubs me the wrong way....not sure what it is...but if you want it too look nice, pay for it.

Sorry if it comes off bad, I tend to be short spoken as typing is a process. I mainly wanted to stress that I didn't want anyone to lose money by helping me out. I have a budget and its hard to find a 100% painted army. For all I know, I'll find something perfect that's 95% done but would love help with the last bit and some additions if needed. In that case I could most likely afford to just pay someone. Again, sorry for offending.

Well, one option is to look through the swap shop thread and look at the armies people are selling .. or, post a trade thread, indicate what $ you have to spend, and see if anyone is willing to part with an army.

It was not offensive, like I said, the comment just seemed weird, what someone decides to do with there time is of no concern to me. Good luck on your search.

I browse the trade forum regularly(but I did get scammed on my last trade) and ebay a lot. The issue is there's a lot of half painted lots out there that I'm physically unable to finish.

I am sure someone would be glad to help you out.
I would do it if my painting skills were better and I was faster because I like the painting part of the hobby just as much as the gaming.
I would do it just for the model cost, paint cost and shipping but again I am not a AAA quality painter haha
You might be able to find someone on here willing to do this for you or maybe multiple people willing to do 1 or 2 squads for you if you pay for the models, shipping and the paints at least.
What army are you looking at?
As others said you might be able to find something on ebay that is fully painted and most people on the swapshop won't scam you just look for reputable traders most people on here are great people!

I think it is always going to be harder getting help from people you don't know (or who don't know you).
I would certainly be more inclined to go out of my way for someone if i knew them personally. That kind of thing is what friends are for after all.
Perhaps if you join a local group or club, you might meet some people who would be happy to give you a hand with painting.

If you were involved in a gaming club, you might be able to do 'group painting' or something where you could prime or dip models while other people do fine details. Then you guys could work together to assembly line everyone's armies and help each other out.
You can do some pretty amazing stuff with simple painting and Dip/wash.

I will agree with a poster above that some specifics about the army would be good. A list would be great if you had one or just "I have some Tau models I like" even.
I'm not a great or fast painter by any means but I love painting. If you actually seriously would buy/ship me a model or two I would paint it for fun and ship it back. That being said, I'm really sorry to say that I'm probably not the best person to paint a model as I'm a somewhat novice painter and my PhD work would mean I'd take time (although probably not as much over the upcoming winter break).
Also, perhaps most important, since this is an internet thing it's harder to trust me since I'm new to Dakka and saying "sure I'll do something good for you if you send me stuff". You're setting yourself up for a Nigerian Prince scam...or you're actually the one scamming and will reply with something like "well how about you ship me a painted model and then I ship you money for the cost of the model" I'm not accusing you of this at all, I'm just saying we both have to be careful with trust stuff and work out what to do....All I've got is a 6'5 best friend who would beat me up if I scammed you...
I finished my first model that I'm happy with enough to post on Dakka, I will post "soon" and you can take a look.
Hope this helps as advice.
