Maybe do Dr. Simmonds with a Red Shulkie paint scheme (Betty Ross was a doctor, got hulkified...it works). My Recon is going to have purple and magenta armor/clothing and his gun is being replaced with a bow. Guess who HIS inspiration is. Hopefully by Tuesday evening I'll have a decent Iron Man vs. Hulk setup done.
That sounds....AWESOME!!! I like the idea of more bows in sci-fi settings cant wait to see the model

I think one of the special characters in mars attacks has a bow of some kind. Not the kid with the sporting goods store crossbow, one of the special/secret agents they did towards the end. Kind of a weird looking thing.
Spoiler:
Not sure if that's exactly a bow or not, it's kind of scifi tech bow...ish?

Click it and zoom in, if you like, they look a little better for me if I do. Could just be my downgraded smaller monitor.
Finally got the phone to take something barely on the better side of hideous. Gotta get a better camera, and some lights :p
The Stormrage Vets are too dark. They're supposed to be dark and smudgy and almost orange yellow.. but too dark. Need to reevaluate the process.
The enforcer is very temporary, I should have 4 defenders or better from my order, so I just did this quickly to have one. Also let me come up with a different (I think better) scheme. Thoughts? Yindij you've seen, sorak is still a touch glossy, but proves the point for me to convert my rebs scheme into something dip friendly.

Recon/Hawkeye is turning out well so far, and the conversion was excessively easy, with one small detail. The arm holding the dagger is now holding the arrow. I wanted it to appear as if it was being drawn from the quiver, but the only way to do that would require extensive shoulder surgery since he has plating on his shoulder. So he's instead leaping as if he's gonna drive an arrow into a guy's chest. Seen him do it before, so it works, it's just not quite as iconic an image. Pics will be up in a couple hrs.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Here's my Hawkeye styled Recon mercenary. I'm mostly pleased with how he came out, but there were a couple minor things that bugged me. Red She Hulk was also the idea for Dr. Simmons, as Betty Ross was a scientist hit by a gamma bomb as well, so the similarities were good enough to make the paint scheme. Unfortunately, a glossy black to be shiny leather doesn't show up well on camera, so she doesn't look as good on here.

thanks TTW, its taken me forever to get him finished, not happy with a few things but on the whole I think he turned out quite well. I like the Hawkeye conversion, I would personally add a bit of string between the ends of the bow for a little extra detail, what are you unhappy with?
I like the she hulk idea too, as an actual plague colour scheme it looks pretty aggressive and straight from a horror movie so pretty fitting

@TTW: Nice Hawk-Con, certainly fulfilled expectations. The pose looks fine.
@Jaydee: That Terraton is not only the best DZ models I've seen, it's one of the best full stop I've seen in a long, long time. Seriously good work, man.

@ttw85: That's awesome! We were talking about making the Rebels into 'Re-vengers' and now I want to do something to copy that dude.

I'm going to add a small weapon to his right forearm, but I'm waiting to see my deadzone bits for some inspiration. Either a flamer or a grenade launcher maybe.

Land speeder assault cannon. I got two from a master of the ravenwing land speeder kit on eBay ages ago. Seemed appropriately sized and intimidating. May do more weapons later for fun, or a second mech.
Actually... having seen peoples give dozer an ogre sword... I'll file that away for next time

I'm thinking the DB mech will need some kind of custom/proxy rules, the striders are going to end up being significantly larger. I figure this guy would be pretty comfortable as a Rainmaker, or something fairly similar. Once the vehicle rules are more deployed and we have all of the rules for the walkers, I may take a stab at getting some stats figured out. For now he'll just sit around and look pretty
Oooh yeah, some of those smaller mech sized cannons would probably look pretty excellent. Maybe even a longer barreled variety for a sniper big mech?

hey all, thought I would post a little update on the uber-board, all four sections are textured and painted and I'm adding extra details as I go. One extra thing I'm working on is a bulkhead, with any luck I'll be able to make a cast of the original and start making plastic/resin copies to clad the walls.
Some great work going on here, a stormy dark day in the UK for taking pictures but here are a few alternative model uses. for Grim here is my mech with burst laser and rifle:
Alpha Simian, who I think makes a nice alternative Terraton:
I just like the idea of the Rebs as a rag-tag bunch of races, and it also means that you can run 2 different looking Terratons without the need to convert.
@ Grim, your mech is brilliant, the assault cannon conversion fits it perfectly.
Thanks I may do some more weapon options as I get time and figure out how I want to use it in the game. I may have to steal the leg configuration you did for yours, I wasn't sure what it would look like so I left things alone. Seeing your work, I think my second DB mech will be standing similarly. I may have to steal your rifle idea too, I had considered it, but what you've done looks better than I thought it might. Thanks for the inspiration

Restic is not that bad to convert with, and the legs were easy to sort, just a case of snipping off the peg and adjusting to your needs. Great to see over in News and Rumours that you should have your first shipment in a matter of days.
80% looking forward to it, 20% dreading the massive undertaking it will be to get it all sorted out and checked for completeness. At least I don't have to do my big fancy unboxing like I was going to, pretty much been done to death so I'm just gonna open baggies when I want to take something out of them to paint

The scavengers really aren't very good models. They would probably have cast up better in metal. The missle team and medic work fine, in my opinion. Now that I see them photographed, though, I realize that I need to go back and do their eyes so they can be seen...
Nice work, JoshInJapan, It's cool to see some of the wave-2 minis painted up before I pre-order them, and you've done a great job. Was it just lack of detail on the Zees, or are there other problems like awkward mould lines ect
