Speaking of which, is anybody here interested in acquiring more Rebels? I'm not a big fan of the models in all honesty so I was looking to send them to a good home. Be quick as my brother is looking for more heavy stubber cultist substitutes (which the Grogans might fit very nicely)

I might for trade but not for cash. Anything you are after?

Not really- unless you have some Plague Enforcers lol. (I know they're not out yet *sigh*)

As it happens Grim, I've been doing a bit on my DE this week- mainly Raiders/Ravagers/Reapers as mine have been lingering with only a black primer coat
I think Incubi might murder a fair number of folk if they were in Deadzone lol. Saying that though, they only really have Bloodstones in terms of ranged weaponry so they'd be soaking up A LOT of firepower before they got anywhere near the enemy.

On topic: Should be able to get some more DZ stuff done this evening

JaydeeOT, those are really cool terrain pics. They're unique but remind me of the quality of stuff in the DZ rulebook photos. Well done.

Wow all four pieces now, huh? Sweet, they look good. I notice they are 5x5 which makes your board 10x10 square when constructed, that's a bit larger than a normal DZ board, is there a method to this madness?

Can't wait to see it stacked high with deadzone terrain!

That terrain is looking really cool, and I love the grime and dirt look that gives it an almost 'rough part of town' feel, should contrast nicely with the cleaner DZ stuff on top.

If I were to suggest something, you might like to add some graffiti or signage on the lower levels, just to compound that feel. Depends on how confident your freehand is.

Cheers guys, its coming along bit by bit but hopefully it should look good when its all done, I was going for a rough dirty run down look so I could probably manage a bit of graffiti at some point but the problem is deciding what kind of graffiti I should go for, I do have a bit of a background built around this set up but I wont ramble on about it just yet.

Ah yes GrimDork there is a method to my madness, not always the case but this time it is an exception to the rule. When I originally planned this it was going to be all one piece arranged like in the picture, I decided that there had to be a minimum of 8x8 squares on the raised section to match the playing area of a standard Deadzone playmat which meant that there had to be at least an extra line of squares for a lowered section, the ramp sections are technically unusable so i figured i would also compensate with another line of squares and make each section 5x5 and smaller and the raised sections would have had enough room for about 1 or 2 buildings which in my mind is a bit pathetic.

I figured i would make the board modular to throw in a bit of variation to the setup and the beauty of the raised and lowered sections means there is more cover and open ground and fire-fights happen in a much more enclosed space so tactical advantages such as using the lower ground to sneak round the board become an option

[Thumb - milton project firebase 1.jpg]
This was the original design, the raised section is the same size as the Deadzone mat

Definitely awesome I'm currently stacking up my structures and additional pieces as high as I can get them. There's a lot of playable surface at 3H (ground counts as 0), with some at 4H and even a little at 6H. Once I sort out my landing pad and replace it with buildings, I should be able to increase the 3-4H areas and continue to build up, but I'll probably run out of tiles shortly thereafter. I'd post pics but this is the painted topic so y'know. Almost have some plague to show off, just being slow.

After painting another half dozen Plague S3s (which look pretty much exactly like all the others I've painted), I decided to work on the Rebs. Wanting to maintain the rag-tag band of rebels feel, I pulled out a couple of minis I got from the first Bones KS:

They suffer from the same soft detail that all of the smaller Bones minis do, to the point where I didn't even try to paint the eyes on the first one. They look fine, I think, at arm's length, and will add some needed variety to my Rebs force.

Now showing mutants and dungeon-crawl heroes!

Painting total as of 3 July 2025: 79 plus a Deva King statue

Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

They look like they should fit in pretty well. I will probably press some of my bones 2 minis into service as rebs or some form of civilians.

I'm not familiar with the Bone mini's but those do look suitable for adding extra personal to the Rebs force...that gun is friggin huge though!!!

Also, wondered if somebody could help me out here, I haven't done much forum posting in the past. how do you show direct images from gallery pages? I figured I would start uploading a few more pictures to my gallery and free some room up on my hard drive and just link directly.

Those look great! How do they scale with the other Rebs?

If they are a good fit, I'll consider picking up the original metal versions of some of their stuff.
You've done a great job but my limited painting skill needs the better defined metal details (since I'm mainly a drybrush and wash guy).

Right then, lets give this a shot...

Ever woken up and thought "its just going to be one of these days..." These Rebs did... should have taken a duvet day

Nice action shot. Really shows off both the terrain and models.

I think the Rebs might have a chance... at running away. The S1 is SLOOOOOOW.

Well, I've played the Rebs 4 times now, and got my ass kicked all 4 times. I picked them because I liked the way they look, but they do not suit my play style. I like to be aggressive.

So, I'm painting up the Marauders. I have an Imgur album with comments. I will keep it updated as I finish more.

Those marauders are looking great

The blue is interesting, combined with the green you've chosen it makes your marauders kind of bright. This is an interesting choice for the gritty deadzone, but perhaps your marauders don't let the environment get to them. And they look good doing it too. Nice work!

I did want them a little bright. A guy I play against regularly has his Marauders painted pretty dark, so I wanted mine to be different from his.

Plus, those orc faces are pretty cartoony, so it seemed appropriate.

hey Blooddave, nice Marauders there, fully painted ones seem to be a bit of a rarity at the moment everybody seems to be going straight for the plague and enforcers, somebody did the same colour scheme over on the mantic forum basing it on the TF2 blue team colours, are you the same guy?

Hey AoV I'm liking the Teraton man, looks gruesome like some kind of zombie sea monster basing might be a bit awkward though since the model takes up so much of the base, what theme are you going for the rest of your troops?

Cheers JaydeeOT. He looks really cool behind my other painted Plague beasties. I'm really pushing hard to get these guys all painted up before my AvP stuff from Prodos gets delivered! First try at doing bone horns which I think came out quite nicely. Had to hold my breath doing it lol.

That's going to be the theme for my horde. Nice and menacing!! Though there will be variations to represent the levels of mutation.

Nope, not me. I went red with my Dreadball Marauders, so I decided to go blue with these. Plus I had a can of Army Painter blue primer on hand.

can't argue with that logic =) seems that blue is a fairly popular colour for the marauders, http://forum.manticblog.com/showthread.php?6465-your-painted-maurders/page2

This guy has got a similar colour scheme, not to mention a friggin cool hat for his goblin sniper

not seen a lot of love for these guys, they were incredibly awkward to paint though, but here are my Reb Zee's codename's Bitz and Bobz:

Oh and AoV, if your looking for good material to use on bases I can recommend cat litter, the non clumping variety, as soon as its painted and highlighted it looks like rubble, I use it on most of my bases much to my cats disapproving looks as I steal it from the bag before it even get's to him... but sacrifices must be made in the name of war...game's
