WAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHH

Finally.... after putting it off for god knows how long, I finally made a start of my Marauder faction, so here's "Da Capin".

Yeah I've noticed the gap in the arm, will be fixing this with some green stuff later.

Let it be know that I really don't like Ork's, I have painted tyranids, dreadnoughts, great unclean ones, dragons... I think I've tried painting just about anything but Orks have never been on the list. so this mini as well as being a first has got to be one of the most time consuming and frustrating models I have painted in some time.... Now I just have to try and convince myself that painting the rest of them will be a "good thing".

Very nice work! Love the skin tone.

It's interesting you didn't like painting that model, personally it's one of my favourites in the game and I too dislike orks most of the time.

The captain has bunch of cool details, and you've done an excellent job with yours. The rest of the commandos don't have nearly as much finicky detail though, so that may help?

Anyone have any tips for cleaning Enforcers? I'm actually loathing cleaning them up. Might take a Dremel to them..

Hmm dremel sounds risky, i've found them to almost never work as well on 28mm stuff as well as i'd like... too much power. I just got a brand new sharp knife and kept it that way, if it got even a little dull i put it in a tray to use for other projects later and got a new one again. For the restic lines it seems a bit easier to very very carefully cut the line away, instead of trying to back drag it, for me at least.

Yeah, this seems to work best-- keep the blade almost parallel to the surface of the mini and slice the mold line off. I find that diamond-coated needle files are helpful, as well.

Ive heard of people using files and then cleaning up the mess with some kind of wire brush but i can never find a kind of wire brush i feel safe using on the material.

Diamond-coated files, used with a light touch, leave a smooth-enough surface that paint covers it up pretty much completely, at least in my experience.

almost done. I still need to find a shield for my defender conversion.
I don't think I'll use the engineer or the missile launcher so they will go into the paint on a rainy day box.

I like to think their walking away from an explosion in this pic

Riddick

One of the few sedition wars minis I haven't sold. He'll get some use in grimdarkzone as Blaine but no shooting.

I'm not really a Deadzone gamer but i picked up some of the terrain recently to see what i could make out of it. Some pictures of the painted/ in progress buildings.

And some more pictures over at my paint thread http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/90/493203.page#7012994

Yeah I like the scenery configuration and the colours are nice. Hey JoeRugby, I like your enforcers and I want my own Riddick now, he looks badass

Given painting a little break and moved back onto my Deadzone board project for a little while and made some expansion pieces, just waiting for some strong magnets to be delivered so I can fix the panels in place properly.

It looks pretty rough, I'm hoping the magnets I've ordered will be strong enough to do the job.

Way to extend your scenery sir! Oooh, and you've given me a good idea too. I nabbed a casting kit from hobby lobby to mess around with casting, and now I've got a perfect idea to emulate, your X-frame pieces, or something similar.

cool stuff, cant wait to see how your creations turn out, casting your own scenery pieces takes a little practice but its worth it in the long run

Nice expansions! With a 12x12 board, I think you could easily fit 100+ point games or even team games on there.

board configuration is a 10x15 squares which I think is a good mid way point between having a single play mat and a double mat, it should be a decent size to hold 100 + point games but I dont think it will be a balanced size to hold team games, its turning out quite nicely though I think

For team games, you could do 2x50 point squads a side? That would allow more people to be involved, but without overcrowding.

On a slightly off-topic note, has anyone tried team games or multi-mat DZ yet?

The number of times that I have given people that advice..... Not just for 'Restic' but for the softer PVC used for the Reaper Bones line.

Works a treat, and a heck of a lot cleaner than trying to file it. (Though I have heard folks saying that there are some very fine sanding sticks that work well.)

Aye 31 pages is quite the achievement. Time I finally contribute more than feedback, as I had decent-ish lighting today:

So what we learn from this is I need to get a better lighting setup, but hopefully there's something here that's viewable.

That's not a bad idea. Of course, sunny in England is sometimes hard to come by, but I might give it a shot later if the weather stays nice.

I now have enough painted minis to have a complete game with them.

Thanks mate. I am quite pleased how they turned out. For a while I was scared they'd be too Incredible Hulk like.

After the scenery I think the Rebs are next.

Nothing. And if Mantic make a Lou Farino plague mini I'll be the first in line, but I just wanted the green to be a bit more subdued.
