Hello all,

I am in love with this concept of Saturnine Terminator Armour by Greyall on Deviantart:

I really want to make it for the 30k tabletop, but have very few ideas on where to begin converting it. It's obviously based on this OOP terminator: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/7/7e/Terminator_mini_MK1.jpg, but I'd rather create something which fits the style of the rest of the Horus Heresy series (much like how Greyall's concept resembles older marks of power armour).

I was thinking of getting my hands on a centurion sprue, some Indomitus terminator armour bits, and some Mk III power armour bits and greenstuffing my way through it. I would love input from some of the more skillful converters here.

Any thoughts/ideas?

Grey knight terminator armour might be worth considering as a base for the conversion. The shape is similar but with less enclosed look.
This can be altered to be more enclosed. The writing on their armour can be filled in with gs if it is undesired.
You could even attempt to cut away a portion of their torso under each arm to add the underlying cables. Don't be afraid to cut up flat surfaces or simpler details on your model during the conversion process. Any unintended damage can be easily hidden or repaired with GS. just be cautious around finer details (unless you don't mind spending ages fixing it up )
With the pauldrons you could double up termi-pads on top of PA-pads to increase thickness and size.
However, PA-pads will not fit termi-arms and some cut/file may need to take place for this idea to work.

Hope this helps

Peace

I looks quite a lotlike a stylised version of the FW Tartaros pattern terminator armour. You could maybe change the helmet enclosure a bit to match the smoother rounded look and add some leg bands, but otherwise its pretty close.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Agreed. I was about to say, the Terminators you can get from Forge World are essentially this.

An Armour Save? No, never heard of it. Me? I play Imperial Guard.

On top of the previous suggestions I'd use the DW plasma cannon (probably obvious but just in case)

The DW plasma cannon is a great idea. I hadn't thought of it. I have a spare FW plasma cannon that I could combine it with to make it look more pre-heresy.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. The only problem with using Tartaros armor is their small stature... I suppose that I could just replace the Tartaros's head with a Mk III head and add some of the segmentation, so it would at least have a similar style.

I'm thinking a bash between GK and tartaros.

Maybe Tartaros torso and powerfist (both extended and loaded up with greenstuff), Mk III head, and GK Legs and doubled up shoulder pads? I could probably also part of the GK torso to extend the Tartaros torso.

I'd go with MkIII head, full GK body with the psychic hood green stuffed over and torse smoothed over and/or buffed out a bit.
Then use the DW plas cannon and maybe a power fist from the same kit.
I'd steer away from the tartaros model just coz their a bit small and they'll make the head look way too big.
Dunno about the shoulder pads - chapter house heresy era one maybe?

could maybe use this mantic model as a base? might be expensive considering how much it is and all the bits you'd need

I have half a mind to kill you, and the other half agrees

It looks about the right size, but I was thinking more of using something from Scibor (although all of their miniatures are solid and super detailed, plus I'm bad at judging scale.)

Scibor models in power armor are all roughly a whole head taller than a standard space marine. They also all come with scenic bases - which is another 1/4 inch or so added to their height. You can put them on normal bases and use their scenic ones for standard GW models, like heroes and such, though. The other major issue for you is that indeed they are very tough models and the bodies and legs tend to be single solid casts, with just arms and weaponry separate. Bad candidates for heavy conversion work unless you just build on it.
