yes, you are correct, I want a SM StormRaven look rather than a Battle Fleet Gothic look.
.
From previous post;
.
Assault Ship, Lander, Frigate, Carrier, Corvette or combination therein.
.
The idea is to use the GW's Wall of Martyrs Line for the top, bridge, and side guns (mainly so it can be used as Terrain in 40K, or as a display for my SM army)
.
Thought;
Piggy-back a Storm-Raven or T-Hawk sized drop-ship on the underside.
Hold six Drop Pods.
Hold four other Flyers (Aquila Landers from the old Battle for Macragge).
.
Opinion on;
.
1) Should the Landing/take-off bay be in front?
In back for reasons; so it does not eat a laser straight down its throat
IRL U.S Navy Tarawa, it is in the rear for the Amtrack's, and a regular deck on top.
In Battlestar Galactica I think they had it, away from the main hull, landing in the rear, but I do not want it to look to BSG.
Any quick search for "Space Carrier" many are in front assumedly for "looks.".

In BSG the vipers lanched out of the sides of the ship but were recovered in the landing bay that ran longitudinally throguh the outriggers.

Modern landing support ships have the bay in the back because the front end needs to be pointy to work. Its just easier to have a flat access ramp/water gate at the rear.

Having the landing bay at the front looks a bit more aggressive I guess, but I don't think it particularly matters. given Imperial ship shielding and the opportunity to have blast doors to the launch bays its not that likely to "eat a laser".

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Yes, BSG, did have it right, but outriggers will look to BSG, drat.
.
Modern LST front (Bow) opens, which might look cool in spaaaaaaace... And you are correct, about water access, so in space, I was thinking everything can drop/launch from the bottom. Have you ever seen the images from the Macon airship?; scroll down; http://tuskeliye.c10.in/2012/08/dark-roasted-blend_29.html
.
I agree, landing bay in front gives an aggressive open mouth look, maybe I will try LST look?
.
Thanks

Interior Decks;
This is a small 2-3 deck Firefly style interior, room for three-four smaller vehicles 3' total length.

.
This is a medium 3 deck strike carrier style interior with room for several vehicles, there is a large lower deck hangar/cargo area that runs the entire length of the ship 4-5' total length with engines.

.
Q) How BIG? (I do not want to go over 6' long or 4' wide, as I want it to fit a gaming table...)
.
I am trying to avoid BFG, and make it look more like a SM Storm Raven...
.
I will now make the interior first, then add an outer frame that will be the hull, weapons, etc.

Why don't you make it the table ,that way size doesn't matter.In the day of the old space hulk that's what GW did..The interior became the game board.

Want to use the outside as terrain, not the inside, inside will be for scale and an outline...
.
But, yes, Space Hulk back in the day was cool, many of us had huge table size interiors...

Hello again, here is the original layout for ideas and size comparison.
Missile pods (308 ammo racks),

Following layout, I am using a cheap ($20) shelf from Wally World for the decks and hangars, but interior will be done last.

.
Front, (note my game table is 4' x 6')

.
Any comments, ideas, etc. are greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance.
