I'm starting to build (and then paint) the power armoured Legion Praetor from Forgeworld. I'm going to be painting him in pieces so I can reach all the detail on it.

Just got him primed; I realised I was all out of blue tack so I decided to add the head instead of painting it separately

What an awesome mini. Can't wait to see it finished.

I really hate the pommel of that sword. Don't know why.

In other news I got his face and the basic silver metals done

Got the first layers of gold and white down with washes on both

Looks awesome dude. What's your recipient for the flesh?

I used Tallarn Flesh, then washed it with 50/50 Riekland Flesh/Medium, and then after that dried 50/50 Leviathan Purple/Medium. Once the washes dried I did a thin coat of Tallarn Flesh and then just blended it up to Elf Flesh. If I noticed any detail was getting covered, I just washed it with purple again. After all the metal and flesh were done i used a bit of Bloodletter around where the the implants joined his head

Too much gold IMO, it doesn't make him look very ravenguard, needs more black. Also is the white done? It looks very grey. The head and the aquila look amazing though, I just think a less is more aproach would be better. It might look more raven guard when the shoulder pads get added.

Neither the white are gold are done, both need a few more layers. The shoulder pads will both have a ton of white so it should help break up the gold. If not I can always change some of the trim from gold to white

I like the work you're doing, looks great!

If the lighting was consistant I'd say the latest post looks brighter, like a burnished gold. Looks great, really a good looking model all the way around, nice sculpt. Charter from the Horus Heresy?

Lol I'm pretty bad at photography, but it is burnished gold on that layer .

This one should be better in terms of progress; the white and gold are both done, though I might touch up the hilt of the sword

My only tip would be to make the white a touch lighter, but that might just be the lighting

Thoughts? I shopped out some of the gold and darkened the picture a bit. Gives the white room to breath/bit more contrast. .

I can't actually make the white any brighter since it's highlighted with pure white , but ya its definitely the lighting (already admitted I'm bad at photography)

I actually don't like it with the trim black hahah, if I did try to mitigate the gold it would be to reverse the scheme; white trim with gold knee and elbow ornamentation. However right now he matches my contemptor dreadnought pretty closely (except for the knee ornamentation)

My suggestion for mitigating the gold would be to make it silver (Mithril/Runefang) as that's not white but would have a similar if not better effect on the overall visuals

I did a similar thing with my emperors champ. I'd post a pic but I'm in France until the end of jan so that's not really a possibly...

None of my other models use silver as an accent colour so it might look really out of place. Again I don't mind changing my scheme on it, but I'd rather to it after I've seen how the shoulder pads and back pack turn out

Sorry for the lack of updates, finally got some free time and built him a stormshield arm, as well as adding the shoulder pads

Fantastic! But does he have to have a Combat Shield and not that awesome revolver? :c

The revolver is awesome, but I plan to use him in 40k where the relic shield, or even normal ss is a pretty big must. Some other model will probably get the arm (since its so badass) but sadly its just not very good on him in a dual 30k/40k role

I'd be tempted to take it on a Librarian :3 They have the biggest support role
And I can see where you're coming from if you're playing him in both eras x3

I approve, it's lookin good. Was the stormshield already painted before? some parts look thick.

It was off the sprue, but I did manage to leave fingerprints while priming in the cold so that probably has something to do with it. Oh and gluing the brass etched on with the gap filler glue lol
