An Ork Biker within a
KFF, for example, has
three cover saves: A 5+ from the
KFF, a 5+ from Jink (since it's a bike) and a 4+ from Exhaust Cloud. If it was also partially obscured by a ruins (4+) on the other side of a Forest (5+) it would have
5 cover saves, but only be able to choose the best of those.
This normally doesn't matter much, but there are a few things that will ignore only a specific type of cover save (Eldar Dark Reapers, for example, ignore Jink saves, but not other cover saves).
Hmmm... that made me think of an interesting idea.
In the next Ork codex, a lot of us Ork players are sort of hoping the
KFF gets a needed boost in power. With cover changing from 4+ to 5+ across the board, Orks need some kind of a boost to keep all our Boyz from getting shot off the table by turn 3.
With all the cover-denying equipment in 6th, some people have tossed around the idea of making the
KFF grant a 5+ or 4+ Invulnerable save instead. I think this would be pretty powerful... but again, Orks need a leg up.
Your post gave me a new idea. What if the
KFF granted Shrouded instead? Then Orks out in the open would have a 5+ cover save, and Orks in cover would have a 3+ save. That could be a real boon, and it would still be vulnerable to cover-denying weapons.
