Generally, you need to specify the boot partition. If you're not specifying the correct one, well then...

That being said, I think this is a good litmus test for whether you should be running linux or not. If you can't get it to boot, find your Windows CD.

Yeah.. pretty much.

If you are having trouble just getting OS to boot Linux is probably not for you.

Suggestion, don't use Linux. I'd suggest using windows at first, then attempting to instal Linux onto another drive if you can.

With nowhere to call a home
Start their singing, singing
Waiting through the summertime
To thaw your hearts in wintertime
That's why they're singing, singing

That's not the best suggestion, but may be the case here. Generally, if you are getting a boot error it is pointed to the wrong device. You can manually choose boot priority on boot or specify a device. Manually specify the boot device.

If that doesn't work, use the install CDs as a 'rescue disk' and check the format/setup of the boot partition.

Do you have access to another machine to test if the boot cd/dvd is in-fact a bootable cd/dvd? I assume "put Linux on disk" is referring to creating a install medium, i.e. a cd or dvd? Or are you already at the stage where a boot loader should start the installed OS?

1.) Go to google.com, and type in that exact error message. That is how to solve every computer problem in the world.

2.) Go to Tomshardware.com if you still need help. No one here is going to help you in a meaningful way.
