Malcador was burned out into ash after a day or two of sitting upon the Golden Throne.
Magnus was intended to sit upon it indefinitely.

i mean from my knowlege magnus was the only full blown primarch... the rest had some ability but not like Magnus
so in theory a alpha psyker or a librarian like tigurius or mephiston could beat a non-psyker primarch

Nope. Primarchs are all practically god tier. All Space Marines are but jokes in comparison to what a primarch is. These guys can level mountains, take plasma from titans to the face, and, with great pain, fight off the stomp of a titan. And this is without counting daemon prince upgrades to the ones that fell to chaos. Also alpha psykers and librarians like tigurius and mephiston are leagues apart. Alpha psykers are somebody like Malcador and somebody a bit lower. Depending on the situation, they can win (as long as it isn't close combat immediately probably) perhaps. Tig and mephiston? The guys aren't alpha, probably not even beta (if they are they are barely).
Also, many of them are psykers to some extent giving them resistance to other psykers.

No i don't think so he was suppose to sit on the golden throne until the Emperor opened the webway and took control of it.

tig and mephy are some of the most, (if not THE most) powerful pyskers the IoM has atm. saying they are "weak" is ridiculous. Tig fething blew open a hive mind, said "your going to do this? kewl, thanks, bye!" and walked out.

I never said they were weak . I believe they are both either high gamma or low beta. These values aren't by any means a joke. Both are crazy poweful psykers and are some (and as you say possibly the most) of the most powerful of the loyal Imperial vessels. The problem is that beta/alpha psykers are infamously dangerous and are prone to going psychotic and then daemonic parties in their head. The thing is, we are comparing them to Magnus and other primarchs that are often at least in some form innate psykers (although none as much as Magnus). Compared to Magnus, Tig and other modern librarians are but mere worms. Even the mighty Ahriman (a greater psyker than Tig and Meph) is still weaker than Magnus.

Ahriman's collection of Warpcraft explicitly rivals Magnus, but Magnus is the far more powerful psyker in terms of talent.

As I understand it Ahriman was the student of Magnus who got more of the lesson being taught than did his brothers.
He is a gifted student and motivated but his not anywhere near Magnus' league of power, knowledge or talent.

No one really that is alive can compete with Magnus (Unless he forgets he's a Primarch again...), Yes Ahriman is a powerful psyker, maybe one of the best in the Galaxy, but still not on his level. But that's Ahriman's niche, why he is better then Magnus, Ahriman gets sh*t done while Magnus does nothing! Magnus is a pawn to Tzeentch, no matter how powerful he is, he is already lost. Ahriman is less so, he has ambitions of his own to become a god. The way I see it their is only one possibility that Ahriman could beat Magnus and that's with access to the Black Library. Then he'd have a fighting chance.
Also for psykers who compete with Ahriman (Excluding daemons, they don't count) are:
1) Eldrad, Does this need to be questioned?
2) The Current Lord deceiver (It takes some serious punch to become Abbadons pet psyker)
3) Maybe Tig, but Ahriman would win him.
No one else coms close really.

Ahriman is explicitly one of Tzeentch's favorite pawns.
For all Ahriman's delusions of grandeur, he is still just a tool of the Architect of Fate. Magnus is as well, but he at least knows as much.

I disagree with this "Tzeentch knows all" stuff. The games wouldn't be fun if he knew the answers all the time, fluff even says he like humans as they are unpredictable. Every now and then (and literally once a blue moon) a human will defy Tzeentchs plans and ruin them, He actually enjoys this as its a change from him "winning" which is what makes him "win". Ahriman has a "chance" of getting out from under the thumb of Tzeentch, its just a chance in hell lol.

He doesn't know the answers all the time.
But Tzeentch is personally micromanaging Ahriman's fate. His chances don't look too great.

I'm pretty sure Magnus was only supposed to sit on it indefinitely when it was fully functional and only required a limited amount of the big E's mind controlling it. He wasn't meant to be able to sit on it indefinitely after he fudged it all up trying to warn Emps during the Heresy, considering it's taking all of the Emperor's psychic might to keep it going.

Out of blatant curiosity would this have been something painful to Magnus, and/or something he would have done willingly?

It might not be have been that painful for Magnus given that the Emperor wasn't interred into the Golden Throne in a pristine, fresh state but rather one mortally wounded almost unto death. The fact that he's able to hold out for so long even in this condition (regardless of the Throne's own part in keeping it in some decrepit stasis) means that Magnus in his prime state may have been able to handle it pretty well so long as he was doing it with his utmost effort.
Also towards your second question it seems like Magnus would have done this willingly if given the chance seeing as how he felt penitent and completely at a loss in his role of ruining the Emperor's plans in utilizing the webway. If the wolves had been able to contact him and convince him to come along peacefully it seems like he would have jumped at the chance for redemption and a way for him to atone for his sins, what better way to do it than to act as a guardian on the Throne whose passage he himself had sundered?

Tzeentch is either omnipresent or as close to it as possible. However, his schemes are not meant to succeed- victory would destroy him as there would be nothing to scheme for. Tzeentch doesn't scheme for the ends, he schemes to exist. This is also why he really isn't a good warp god to follow as it's only a matter of time till he screws you over and you either end up dead or a gibbering hunk of warp-spawned flesh.
