My partner is fielding Tau as an Allied Detachment, with the 548 points left. This is my contingent. And no, I can't field Tiggy as I won't be able to get my hands on one by the tournament.

Chapter Tactics- Ultramarines
HQ- ML2 Librarian with Terminator Armour and storm shield= 125

Troops- Tactical Squad with flamer and missile launcher= 160
Scout Squad with 4x sniper rifles, heavy bolter and camo cloaks= 77

Elites- Assault Terminator Squad with 5x thunder hammers and storm shields= 225

Fast Attack- Stormtalon Gunship with Skyhammer Missile Launcher= 125

Heavy Support- Land Raider Redeemer= 240

Thoughts? What could I add to this/ improve? I don't really want to take up any more points, for sake of my ally.

I would cut ML2 from the Librarian. It really isn't necessary. Also, what psychic discipline is he using? You need to make sure that is recorded in your army list (I would go with Biomancy, for CC buffs).

I would also take a Missile Launcher instead of the Heavy Bolter for the Scouts. The Missile Launcher will give the unit more versatility and you already have a shortage of anti-tank firepower.

Land Raider Crusaders are generally a better choice than Redeemers, unless your typical opponents are Space Marine-weilding noobs. I would add a Multi-Melta to this, regardless of the variant you choose.

The list looks pretty solid as a stand-alone list if you make some of the suggested changes, but without knowing what your ally will take there isn't much else to comment on.

I'll add a multi-melta to the Land Raider, but why would I use a Crusader?

Crusaders are superior due to the range on the sponson weaponry. Flamestorm cannons are great on paper but are very hard to use on a non-fast vehicle. Getting in range to use the Flamestorm cannons also means you are in range of the opponent's melta.

Redeemers are great if your typical opponents aren't great players, though. It really depends on your local meta.

I thought about Sternguard, but how would I get them close enough to the enemy and still get to use their shooting? Termies hid in a nice protective LR can do a fair amount, especially if I keep it in cover. I'll see about making it a Crusader, but where will I get the points from? I could drop the ML like you said, but how much would the help?

You have 500 pts invested in your terms. what happens if it get immobilized? Drop pod stern guard kill whatever you throw them at. Or could go for full rhino troops. Meh.

I'll be hoping that it's not Immobilized, but Rhinos have a far higher chance of Immobilization. Not only that, I've only really got two. In terms of a Drop Pod, I'm never too lucky with doing damage in the first strike, and I'm basically giving up FB or a Kill Point.
