Quick Question for any Tau player: do the Hammerhead, Skyray, and Devilfish all use the same base chassis?

I have a deal lined up for several Devilfish and I was thinking of buying a skyray or hammerhead topper on ebay.

Continuing to look for Warmachine and nWoD Mage games in South Central PA along 81.

... even the identical chassis sprue.
Nose turret and options for drones vary though.

If you magnetize them right, you can make all versions from the same kit(s).

The chin turret is the only thing that's different. The devilfish has a burst cannon mounted on it that can't be swapped out, but the hammerhead and skyray both have some pointless bit that looks like a cluster of lenses and then options for drones. You would have to magnetize that bit so it can be swapped out between the two, which I've never attempted myself but I don't think it's very difficult.

Easiest way to do this http://www.advancedtautactica.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=14454

This is very close to what I have done with several of my fish hulls and it works great (I used a magnet on each part, not just a piece of metal, but what ever works.....).

I also magnetized the top turret, although to be honest, most of them friction fit just fine (devilfish hatch, hammerhead turret, skyray turret).

Oh, and a couple of magnets under the "wings" on the bottom for seeker missiles (although not as useful as in the last codex).

best of luck!!!!
