Si after i finish building and painting my vampire counts to the extent that want to i want to run a wood elf air force. basically minimum requirements for core in the form of glade guard, anf as many units mounted on eagles and such as i can. for example:
1500 points
lords:
highborn on great eagle w/ bow of loren, light armour enchanted shield
heroes:
noble on great eagle w/ longbow, spear, light armour, warrior bane
core:
3x10 glade guard
special:
3x6 warhawk riders
rare:
1 great eagle
what are your thoughts on this? i'd be using a lot of the table with all the free reforms and such, and the swufstride flees, with the flying cavalry, picking off warmachines first, then focusing on ranged trops and heavily armoured troops, thinking about swapping out the great eagle for arcane bodkins on the highborn and ruby ring of ruin on the noble. i dont play competitively, and this army would just play completely differently to my VC army, where speed and manouvrebility is the name of the game, while chipping away at the things that could realistically hurt them. would this work? and could i have a few constructive criticism for how to improve. thanks if this is in the wrong forum i apologize.

That bow of Loren ain't no good, you NEED Arcane Bodkins for it to be worth it. That noble isn't no help either, make him a BSB and kit him out with either a GW or HoDA. Glade Guard are quite slow, if your playing for fluff how about glade riders? 18'' move with no downside is funny vs melee armies. You should also consider stone of crystal meer for you highborn so he doesn't get cannon sniped first turn.

I second the glad riders. If you're going airforce, than having everything that doesn't fly being a M9 swift striding forest strider is "almost" flying.
Taking elves on foot is only giving your opponent part of your army that he can catch.

Also consider the Sisters of Twilight on an Eagle, the Rules for them are absolutely ridiculous and your obviously playing uncompetitively anyhow! Eagle, by the rules, cannot be hit, so since there are two riders its impossible to kill the unit with a single cannon ball since it will be randomised between both riders. Also, for some reason, if the sisters die the Eagles gets to play on as a single model unlike most monstrous mounts (FAQ states it reacts on the monster reaction table as if you rolled a 5-6). Add this to the 'best' part, both sister get to use the Eagles T and Wounds! Yep, monstrous mount rules say that you use the highest, meaning BOTH sisters have T 4 and 3 Wounds each, and unless you kill both they both regain all wounds.
Its obvious you won't win games through VP's, but by the opponent dyeing of stress of not killing anything. The shooting is also quite good, giving reasonable anti-horde and the funny strength test arrow that helps you own the movement phase even more. Also note that the Strength test is done on the lowest strength available, I found happily, that this means Doomwheels take the test on the strength 2 of the Rats. FUN*
May not be fun for opponent, be advised that wearing protective head gear is a must have vs the insults of Wuss that are sent you way, but we are wood elves, and we don't care!

Haha that is actually the most excellent thing I've read about the sisters, thing, yeah glade riders sound good too, I just saw the price per model and kind of balked at it, but yes indeed, glade riders it is,

I am not sure how effective this army would be, but it would be fun to play!
A couple of things I would look to include:
- A noble on warhawk kitted out for war machine hunting
- Can wizards ride warhawks? The magic defense and buffing could be useful.
Great concept though and I would love to see it work on the table!

A level 3 or 4 wizard might be worth considering on an eagle then as they can then use the lore of life IIRC?
Flesh to stone and suchlike (also wyssans from lore of beasts) might help to keep your hawk riders alive a bit longer.

A sample Sister list that I use (Although have Wild Ridrs in place of Warhawks) is really fun and shows off the Sisters being troll-y. I think its like what you are looking for.
Sisters of Twilight on Gwindalor. 325pts
Noble BSB on Great eagle with Bane, HoDA . 190pts
5 Glade riders with musician and Horse Master 129pts
5 Glade riders with musician and Horse Master 129pts
5 Glade riders with musician 129pts
6 Warhawk Riders. 240pts
6 Warhawk Riders. 240pts
Great Eagle 50pts
Great Eagle 50pts
Nothing moves under 18'', the idea is to pick around the edges until you can get a charge from every angle but the front, using combat rez of charges and BSB to win ad sweep in combat. Fun as heck.

I wouldn't run a T3 run and gun list without at least some magic defense.
You know you're doing something wrong when lore of fire looks awesome.

Haha fair enough, thanks for the sample list. Yeah I was wondering where i could fit in a mage, but that looks pretty damn fine right there.

He could fit a dispel caddy in higher points, but at 1500, its a choice between BSB and Mage, and since you are going to be fleeing a lot I thought...

No.
Characters cannot join units with the Flying special rule.
Put the wizard on a horse, have him hide in your core.
