Would you find this list fun to play? Geared to take advantage of hard as nails, fast characters. Supposed to be fun but with a chance of winning:
Iron hands
Chapter master
Bike, AA, TH, SE
Chapter master
Bike, AA, ToT, SS
Chapter master
Bike, AA, BB, SS
Chapter master
Bike, AA, PF, SS
Bike squad x2
5 man
2 grav, combi grav
Bike squad x2
5 man
2 melta, combi melta, melta bombs
Stormtalon
Skyhammer
Whirlwind
Allies BA
Mephiston
Scout squad
Snipers, camo cloaks
2k
5 scoring units. 4 of which are tanked by t5 2+/3++ 6+fnp characters. When the characters leave, these units are still t5 3+ with 5+ jink and 6+ fnp. Another scoring unit with a 3+ cover at distance. So the scoring is not as fragile as first seems.
Stormtalon for some limited AA. If worried about flyers - can just pile into combat.
Whilrwind for horde control (steal at 65pts when all the opponents heavy weapons will be focused elsewhere).
18 grav shots shooting turn 1 as well as 4 orbital bombardments. Melta squads to help take out tanks/cover av14. 24 tl bolters for horde control.
5 fast close combat monsters. 2 which can deal with MCs without worry - mephy, shield eternal cm. All but mephy have 6+ fnp and IWND to really take advantage of the Iron Hands CT.
Any st10 ap2 ordinance that hasn't scattered can be LOS to the bikes, if failed then there is still the 3++ for the cms. If it is exceptionally lucky and kills a chap master - you still have 4 monsters approaching you... fast!
"Well D weapons would kill that"... yes D weapons excel at everything that is not an extreme MSU build. Im not attempting an MSU build here (they may be multiple small units but they are expensive so not traditional msu), therefore im not bothered about D weapons as this isnt a tourney list but a fun list, so if facing superheavys I would merely take another list.
Can it however be semi-competitive in a 'traditional' 40k environment?
