Okay so I wanted a Jordanian Centurion Force...Worked out I wanted 11, so at £19 a shot for 2 that would be £115 with 1 spare... A tad expensive for what I want.
Looked at QRF - got 11 x for £5.50 = £60.50 and you can get a Multipack Discount of 10, just ask the guys, Chas and Geoff are great. I bought a load of Cold War stuff but for approx £55 I got this...
The models are involved, not as easy as BF ones, but for me, I can afford the time to clean them up and Greenstuff bits and pieces.
Here is a Centurion next to a BF Cromwell - I am hoping to get a BF Centurion to compare them directly.
I need to do some Greenstuff and clean them up a bit, but I'm really pleased.
My force will be ....
2 x HQ Centurions
1 x 3 Centurion Platoon
1 x 3 Centurion Platoon
1 x 3 Centurion Platoon

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest! |

Wow, this is exactly the kind of thread I wanted to see! Think I'm in the same boat, love the idea of doing a force within this era but it looks rather expensive.
One question - I've thought about it for a few minutes, and no doubt will kick myself when you say. But, what is QRF?

Quick Reaction Force,,,, They do 15mm Models, but they aren't for novices, just so know they take a bit of filing and work to be good but they save you a fortune.

Go to the Post War thread, however their WWII Packs can be good for unusual models like rare German or Allied kit, Jagdpanthers etc. I couldn't bring myself to buy 4 Jagdpathers for £40 from BF. But £16 for 5 is fair enough.
It also means I can go on Heer46 with my savings and buy stupid things like Lowe's!

Excellent mate, thanks very much
Some really cool FoW terrain on that site as well, and very reasonably priced.

How much work are we talking? QRF is the only other place aside from BF where I can find Hungarian Zrinyi IIs, but I can get the BF ones for only 75p more each than QRF thanks to my LGS discount. I'd need 10, so I'm only really saving the cost of another tank as opposed to several tens of pounds, but £7.50 is £7.50. Would the lower cost of QRF make it worth the work needed? Or would it be easier going through my LGS if I'm not really looking to perform intensive model surgery? Half of me wants to simply patronise my LGS, but the other half wants to know if I can save a few quid.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Well do you consider, removing mould lines, straightening the odd element line like tracks, a pain or a Challenge?
I like to do them quite hands on, so some Green Stuff to close the gaps and make them look nice.
Fact is, if you aren't a keen modeller and don't like the challenge of taking good models and making them look excellent, then I would pay the different and buy others that are simpler and less challenging.
Here is the Chieftains I did 12 months ago.

Green stuff and I don't get along very well.
If I only needed 3 or 4 tanks then I'd probably go for the QRF, but seeing as I'd need 10 I think it'd quickly stray into the realms of PITA for me.

Those don't look bad at all mwnciboo.
I try and buy metal vehicle whenever possible. They can be a bit of work (did some Command Decision JagdPanzers that had a slightly warped chassis), but the resulting 'feel' of pushing around solid and heavy metal tanks when you have finished them more than compensates
