Ok so the new codex is coming out and i havent really seen it talked about but instead of what new units you want to see, what kind of new weapons do you want to see?
Personally i would love to see:
Anti Tank Rifle
Light Machine Gun
Smoke and flare rounds for mortars and grenade launchers
Some sort of AAA Heavy Weapons Team (for those who dont want to use vehicles or aircraft)
Also i would love it if they released a "fun unit" (i know i know) for a musician band or something. Would go so well with my Praetorian Style army. For moral purposes.
Any ways what kind of new gear would you be uber duber happy to get in the next codex?

Agreed on the light machine gun and non offensive mortar rounds.
As far as a lmg there is the heavy stubber, id like to see hws and regular guard squads be able to take that.
Flare rounds that lowered the scatter roll of barrage or ordinance i could see being quite useful too.

The stubber is awesome but i would love something that can fire on the move, even if it isnt particularly strong.
Non offensive rounds would make the shooting phase more fun. Choosing weather killing, maiming or buffing is the way to go or not.

But it is FW. I would like to see some multi shot str 6-7 weapons with options like skyfire/intercept or tankhunter/barrage for squads or failing that grav guns for veterans .
Some sort of fast moving unit that can claim objectives would be fine . I seen old imperial jet bike models we could get those or at least normal bikes .
The idea to be able to put down smoke templates to block LoS would be cool too, Eldar would laugh at it , but against other armies it maybe useful . If tGW doesn't make it cost like +20pts each .

No hi-tech weapons for footsloggers (even veterans). Non-fluffy = EVIL = HERESY!
But I would like some better sniper rifle and maybe some portable infantry thread-fether. But is can be missile launcher so...
Maybe chance for basic troopers get carapace for some price and hotshot for veterans...but IG must remain what it is. Bunch of men with flashlights

I'd like to see more variety in weapons.
I WANT a Lucius pattern lasgun, I know you can buy the Death Korp weapon pack from Forge World, but you only get five in the pack, and It's about £14.00. It'd be nice if Games Workshop gave you a choice of lasgun without having to stick with the Kantrael pattern, it also adds body to the fluff of: each Guard regiment's equipment is different.
I'd like to see wheels or something on the heavy weapons, so it looks like you could actually move the things.  Again, I know that's a 'Death Korp' thing, but it'd be nice.
However, new weapons? I like the idea of a Section/Squad-based stubber, that's not a Heavy Weapon, maybe a man-portable multiple-laser thing.
The Space Marines just got a gravity gun, what's that, any good? One of them?
A Plasma cannon Heavy Weapon would be nice. Loose the Gets Hot!, though.

As to the forge world problem id (and i use a lot of forge world) still prefer it to be in the codex so i know i have an up to date and easy access rules for it. So much better for it all to be in one place.
And very true on the lasgun variations. That alone would make armies look very different from each other.

Id like to see a buff to GL, mabye some fire or acid rounds to make thek worth taking.
would also like too see more variety in army special rules like tue C:SM have in order to give more variety to armies, this could also probably give the different lasgun styles you guys are looking for as well.

What about doctrines that have a massive effect on how useful your weapons are?
Like for example catachans getting a bonus to their flamers but sucking at something else etc?
Could make doctrines interesting.

they would have to be shorter range to account for weaker humans using them. Commanders can take them, but presumably they are more experienced.
as for stubbers, a lmg version that could be salvo 2/4 would be cool.
I'd like to see more chimera weapons, like the fw autocannon one but also an assault cannon version and maybe a light missile launcher add on, like the havoc launcher. also if they could make the russ look less unbelievably stupid that would be nice.

I have to say, I like the possible uses of the 'support' mortar rounds.
anti tank rifles arent 2 man weapons. An Anti tank weapon designed to shave off hull points not kill the target.
Stubber is still heavy, id like to keep mobility personally.
Id rather have have light anti air so something like an aa tripod mount option weapon or something.. i dont know.

Aye, could do that I suppose, I'd be fine with just Light and heavy dragoons, Cuirassiers and maybe carabiniers. And a plastic kit for them, so I dont have to kitbash them from fantasy kits etc.

5pt heavy stubbers for special weapon slots (or 5pt SAW equivalent with salvo 2/4)
+1 for smoke mortar rounds (if hit friendly unit, that unit's cover is improved by +1?)
Retooled grenade launchers. Maybe with barrage rule, or assault 2, or salvo 1/2.
Decent shotguns or carbines for CCQ infantry (assault 3, or exploding 6's).
Leman russ "kangaroo" APC. No turret, only hull/sponson weapons (autocannons for sponson option), 10man transport, open topped.

Personally id love a tank thats just a mobile fortification (like a mini leviathan) too.
Smoke would be cool if it blocked LoS both ways or just gave a 5+ cover like vehicle ones?

I would like to see more useful Leman Russ variants personally. For example, one with a Grav Cannon w/amp for 185 points.
I would also like to see a buff in stormtrooper equipment.
New type of walker/strider, like a more beefed up version of the armored sentinel with a weapons loadout more similar to a space marine dreadnought, like being able to take 2 twin linked autocannons, or 2 twin linked multi lasers, something like that. Give these and Sentinels a stomp attack at S8 AP3 in CC.
I would like to see more useful ways for commanders/orders to buff IG Infantry and units. Eldar and Tau have support HQs that give them all kinds of incredibly useful bonuses, while it seems like the only somewhat useful orders IG has are rank fire and bring it down. I feel like orders should be buffed significantly to compete with just allying in a divination inquisitor.
I would like to see more options for Commissars and commanders in terms of equipment and weaponry, and a boon to current equipment that doesn't do anything. Like giving the ability for Commanders to deploy servo skulls, take power armor, etc. Again this is to compete with just allying in an inquisitor.
More useful upgrades for LR tanks, something like targeting array sponsons like you can take on the super heavies.

Anti-Tank Rifle would probably be a Heavy 1 version of an Autocannon. The big issue here is 1 - 2 strength 7 shots doesn't really give a squad a lot of vehicle killing power.
Light Machinegun would be doable as a version of the Heavy Stubber with Salvo 3/2 or some such. Alternatively a Lasrifle with Salvo fire could do the trick as well. Horus Heresey has a hybrid of an auto gun and an assault can on that could work too.
Less Lethal rounds wouldn't be a bad idea. I think that rules like Blind and Strikedown really could be leveraged more. If you wanted everyone to take grenade launchers a Flechette round for close defense that uses a template would do well too. A less lethal option for the shotguns could be cool, something that causes less wounds but forces a Pinning Check and other effects if a wound does happen.
I think that Heavy Weapons Teams providing AA will likely be in the form of Flakk Missiles for their Missile Launchers.
For other new creations, the sudden bloom in Monstrous Creatures could be met with more poisoned weapons in the form of flamer and heavy flamer like gas sprayers.
I'd like Auxiliary Grenade Launchers to show up in decent numbers, like up to two in the squad in addition to the special or heavy weapons.
A submachinegun or carbine type weapon (18", Assault 2 lasting) wouldn't be bad either, but it would over shadow the Shotgun unless the shotgun got a little love (Str 4 and maybe some special ammo).
I would love to see more auxiliaries work their way into the guard to be honest. The new main rule book paved the way for Squats among others. There could be some weapon options in that direction too.
