Today sees liquid green stuff filling the gaps and building the guants. Then I'll get it all primed tomorrow and on from there.

Man, and I thought assembling, magnetizing, and painting my 200 pt kill team for the table was a challenge in 6 weeks while playing in the league during those 6 weeks. (I did get it done in 5, since I took a week off to just work on my knight.)

Looking forward to seeing it when it's done. What did you decide to do with the FW piece?

I will be watching anxiously for you, I just decided to paint all my old genestealers, termagants and spore mines from space hulk( 2nd and 3rd editions) and battle for maccragge. I got them done in two weeks but I used an airbrush to basecoat. The main colors. Good luck

Thanks for the posts guys, makes it better when I have people encouraging me. Slight change from post above in that tonightim still gonna try and do the greenstuff and build the gaunts but I will have to do the bases first so they can all be primed together. Experience tells me that it can take 2-3 days for these bases to dry so may have to find other bits to do over the next day or two.

Will post a pic of the entire army when assembled.

Oh, and the bust is still in my collection. I may one day buy the large space marine model that fw do and make a diorama or something. For now hes just sitting pretty/ugly (you decide)

OMG, I never realised just how monotonous guants were. There is a whole termagant factory going on here.

Never got any gs done or the bases as the little critters took my night up but as promised here is the assembled 1500 pt list (may change a little).

Going to strip and re paint all the be homotopy stuff plus the mawloc and if I can be bothered will do the others too or if they look massively different from how I paint mine then I'll do them.

Got to get some flying stands for the gargoyles too.

Haha, painting will be the easy(ish) part. Airbrush primer, paint carapace, wash skin, highlight....

Para, I wish I had a tervigon doing it. The mold lines were not too bad to be fair so was just an evenings work.

So today I've been getting high on glue fumes doing the bases for ALL the models.

Simple technique of pva glue on base then drop superglue into the puddles to give the secreted look. It looks vey "niddy" when done. I used it on the walls of my Alien nids so will do it on these.

Also picked up some shades today for the bases and bodies plus I stripped the mawloc, gargoyles and genestealers.

Depending on drying time I might get them primed tomorrow but can at least prime the magnetised bits and the hive crone.

All going well so far...

Day 4 into th6s chalkenge and I've git the reds in tn MC's done so just need to go back in with the grey to tidy up and pick a few more red spots out.

Amazing progress getting that lot even part-painted. As for what to do next, I think this is the first time I've seen batch-painting identical horde infantry suggested to 'break up the monotony'. As the owner of a 200 model guard army, most of which was painted in 48 hours, I declare you mad as a box of frogs!

But seriously, do what you have to to make sure you don't burn out. Getting bored will make you slower in working through this, so I say mix it up somehow.

Day 5 just uploaded to youtube and the termagants and genestealers have the red done plus tidied the red on the MC's. I intend to wash the gants and maybe the MC's today, and then hit the red of the hormagaunts and gargoyles tomorrow.

Real life stopped me getting what I wanted done yesterday as I had to mow grass, fix decking and fit a parasol. Then in the evening I was sat by the burner with a beer so did no more. I DO NOT suggest painting outside as even medium didnt keep the paint from drying too quick. I still acheived a fair smount though.

I may just get this one done.

Day 6 and im getting a little nervous. I have done the first wash on gants, stealers, venomthrope and some of the mc bits. Still got an awful lot to do. Video is uploading for those following on youtube and here are a few pics of progress.
I have gone for a darker look than normal kraken by washing over grey rather than white primer and feel itlooks more natural and urban. The bases will be quite bright and should give a good contrast. Let me know what you think though please.

I'm busy most of today but should get an hour or two tonight and the same tomorrow but wednesday is all mine so will slog it out and HOPEFULLY finish this on time. That then gives me just 5 days to get my thunderhawk to an assembled point as im having a big apocalypse game on monday next week. Why do I do this to myself??

Looking good. Next step is weathering all the carapaces and then adding OSL from the eyes right? You can do that to a billion bugs in 5 days!

The wash does look good. And while I was kidding about the weathering, the carapaces look like they do need a wash and/or drybrush to give them a little texture. Not sure what your plans are. Did you do a sample mini? Or are you just figuring this out as you go along?

Haha nev, do you really think I'd have a test mini rather than flying by the else at of my pants?

Gonna shade the carapaces tonight and then do some highlights on them too. Got another shade to put on the flesh and then all the eyes will get a yellow dot.

Really don't know if I can get it all done but I'm sure as he'll gonna try. Hahaha

Good to see the washes getting done now, for a while I thought you swapped painting red and white space marines for red and white tyranids

It's amazing how fast you're going, I'm reading this and looking at the four devestators I put together from which I now have half of one painted in the same time...

One question, are you gonna pick out the gaunts teeth with anything, and if so, what?

Thanks guys, im gonna pick the teeth out with randome tan and then a touch of white. I've washed the carapaces etc with reikland fleah tonight and tidies up and washed all the MC's. I've also touched a few of the bases in with yellow wash and I put that on the twin linked devourers. I will glaze them green and see what it looks like as I have not tried it before so may look a bit meh.

Tomorrow I am going to do the next 2 washes on the flesh, another colour on bases and maybe start with the wings for the tyrant and crone.

I still need to do the red and flesh on the hormagaunts and gargoyles so will perhaps break into them tomorrow too.

As I mentioned earlier, Wednesday is gonna be a BIG day for me. If I can make some headway with the washes tomorrow (Tuesday) then I may just pull this off.

WOW.....

I really am gonna be pushing it here. Got nothing done last night really, just built the gargoyles and washed the gaunts.

Been on it most of today (since 11am) and have primed the gargoyles, put some more colour into bases, airbrushed all the wings and started doing the red carapaces.

Just having a break and a stretch to keep me well (this should make you happy nev )

Still got to finish reds, wash gargoyles and MC's arms from wings, finish bases, teeth, eyes and tongues. Then it's highlighting the carapaces but I may nit bither with that if time runs out and then do it another day.

Taking dinner and a trip to hospital with the other half out I have 4 hours painting left before bed as I'm finally back in work tomorrow.

Can I REALLY do this???????

Didnt quite finish the project on time (video on youtube) but happy with where I got to so can't really complain.

Still need to do the bkacknaround the bases if stealers and gants. Plus when I get chance I neddt to do eyes, teeth and tongues and all the carapace highlights.

All in all an army in a week is an impressive undertaking and I'm proud of myself.

What will my next crazy challenge be? Suggestions on a postcard please.
