Subject: Warhammer 40K Video Bat Rep Tau vs Dark Eldar
Yeah that R'Varna seems to have the problems a Revenant has where it has so much firepower that it's overkill when firing at an army like Frankie's. Usually the venom will die on the first shot but then you're hoping it scatters so far off to hit other units. More than likely it will see a points increase which will make it an even more waste of points. Great report again guys!

In this specific case the R'Vana actually wasn't that impressive and wouldn't have had such a big effect on the game if Frankie hadn't decided to take one on the chin to see what it could do.
BTW I am starting to think frankie might be a masochist with his wanting to take the pain.

It popped 4 vehicles in one turn.

What model is legal for play if you don't want to buy the FW R'Varna model? Like are there requirements or anything when modding a Riptide so it is the correct height etc.?

Which would never happen unless you specifically wanted to take it on the chin. Honestly grouping up that much will cause huge damage against anything like that.

The R'varna is just a total beast. I've played against him myself and I can honestly say that he is way under-costed for what he can do. I mean, think about it....he's got the potential firepower of 12 fricking leman russes....only that it is also twin-linked, re--rolls to wound/pen against MC's/vehicles and can ignore cover as well!!! That guy needs both a points increase and for his rules to be toned down as well.

Just proxy the model, unless you've got the money to convert him from a normal riptide. Besides, his rules are experimental anyways. If your opponent is ok against playing him, he probably wouldn't care what model you used as long as the size is about the same.

So when I check on the experimental rules for the R'Varna I saw what looked like an approved for 40k stamp. (Eagle with 2 heads and the words Warhammer 40,000) But then it also still had the experimental rules stamp. Could someone check it out and tell me if its actually approved with the current rules, or if its not.

Don't get your hopes up high yet, buddy. It's not approved and probably won't be until the next Forgeworld book comes out....and who knows how long that may be.

Darn... Well like it was said on another thread, it wold be cool to have a Farsight Enclaves vs. Orks based IA book, or Tau vs. Hive Fleet Gorgon. Especially the idea of vs. Nids because that is when the R'Varna was put to use for the first time.

Wow, frankie you are kind to basically throw the game so your opponent could show off his one unit. as if tau needed more broken stuff. this kind of bat rep is like watching a train wreck. next time bring a list to smash those tau.

Remember that the R'Varna is twin-linked, Monster/Tank hunter, and ignores cover with a support commander attached to him. He cannot do these things by himself.

Who clusters his freaking light skimmers against an army that uses mostly large blasts as its main method of destrction?
Spreading his units around might have made them "reach slower", but he would have lost only 25% of what he did this way. there would never be a chance to hit 4 of them with 1 unit.
can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

Frankie did it on purpose just to show everyone what would happen if you got caught in a situation like that. He is a great player, it was a mistake on purpose to illustrate a point.
