So as per the title which one of the two do you think is better? Tiggy or Loth? I am looking to get one that will guarantee me GoI. I know that Loth does that, but can Tiggy do that too? I read a rule where if Tiggy picks powers from one of the rulebook powers instead of the SM ones, then he could take two more from anything but Divination (SM can take that). So could that guarantee me GoI and then get me something else good like Puppetmaster, or Hallucination? I also need help figuring out how many psychic powers Tiggy can cast each turn. If I could get any help on this that would be great. And FYI I am going to be using one of these two in a Farsight Bomb so I can take advantage of Farsights trait to not scatter when DSing. Thanks for your help.

Someone crunched the math recently, and I think it worked out to being close to a 70% chance for Tigurius to pick up any one power, if you are gunning for it.

Either option works with the Farsight Bomb idea, but you're frontloading a LOT of points into that deathstar. Having used it myself, I'd recommend leaving it at home in games under 2k.

Tiggy can indeed take Divanation. The only SM that can besides Dark Angels I think....

Wait, so Tiggy cant just choose what powers he wants? What is the process of picking for him? Why would you leave it at home? I like it because of the mobility that it has, and the amount of shots it puts out. Paired with marker light support... your opponent is going to be in for a long day.

Tiggy can't choose powers. He gets to re-roll a power if he doesn't like it, and that gives him a 75% chance to roll GOI. Loth can choose GOI, but only has 2 wounds and can't re-roll failed powers. Tiggy picking powers was from the 5th ed marine book.

I pretty much need GoI to use the main part of my army, so is it worth taking the chance with Tiggy that I won't get GoI, but could possibly get something else that is really good, should I go with Loth so I have GoI for sure, but then get to choose 2 more bad Telekinesis powers? If I do go with Loth, what other 2 powers should I choose other than GoI?

Because other than the 30% chance of not getting Gate, Tigurius is far-and-away the superior choice. If all you're after is Gate and nothing else, go Loth. If you want your Gate-capable character to pull more of his weight, then you should go Tigurius and 'rolls the dice and takes your chances,' as the saying goes.

So now you have me wondering. How do you determine your powers? Do you roll on the table for the discipline and the dice result will tell you the ability you will get? Also, could you elaborate on how Tiggy can get GoI about 70% of the time? Like what power does he have that lets him re-roll when generating powers etc. Thanks for your help.

Um...normally I'm not into the whole standoffish 'look it up yourself' thing, but it seems like you don't actually have the Space Marine codex. You should get one of those. Forum policy is not to let people use the forums as a replacement for the codex.

Tigurius's special rules allow him to generate three powers. If he rolls a power he doesn't want, he can re-roll it.

Normally, a psyker must select the table he wants (from his optional disciplines) and then roll his power. Do you do it differently?

Almost all psykers have to roll randomly on their charts. You can almost never just choose a power.

Imotekh, I know that you feel strongly about Loth. So why would you not choose Tiggy?

Tiggy is a great choice in general, probably better than Loth overall. However, since the entire purpose of the exercise is to generate GoI, nothing beats a guarantee.
