The cunning foxes have fought for millennia trying to regain their honour after betraying the Lords of Courage during the battle of Homunculus 5. They fight much like the raven guard striking from the shadows but while the Raven guard are surgical and strategic, once the cunning foxes are behind an enemy line they will slaughter and destroy all who get in their way. Unlike many chapters who fight with their tactics the Cunning Foxes have a huge Heavy support section. Nobody knows the extent of the betrayal that stains their loyal history but all who see the Cunning Foxes fight know that they have not yet redeemed themselves.
Hey guys, I've heard a lot about people posting things like this and then these ideas have been stolen. I don't think anyone in the dakka dakka community would steal this but...

How did they exist during the heresy when there were precisely 18 legions? And who are the Lords of Courage, and how could they have existed during the heresy when there were 18 legions we know of.

Its all a mystery... But really, it's just a start. This isn't the finished product.

I'm aware, but these are exactly the questions that need to be asked at the beginning. Point is, its generally best to avoid a custom chapter that was involved in the heresy. Only the 18 legions were there.

It might be worth putting some events that describe why they use huge amounts of heavy support units. Maybe something related to their military ethos dictates the first blow should be the last or something. That and adding how they interact with other Imperial Organisations helps is nice.

Maybe the Cunning Foxes' homeworld of Fenneca was destroyed by the Iron Warriors in M37 and they were pounded remorselessly by Iron Warriors artillery for six months? Perhaps Chapter Master Canidaus McCloudus was the first to take over one of the Iron Warrior's massive artillery pieces and turn it against them, leading to the Cunning Foxes' love of heavy support as well as stealth?
Food for thought.
