In almost all circumstances most people agree that BA suck. They have many fun lists, but none are really competitive. I do play BA, but eh, really, I can't stop losing. Again, they can be quite fun though.

Flyers in necron 500pt don't work too well. At least not the night scythe. And then then they're son point taking a doom scythe when you could use the slot for an annihilation barge...
Most common 500pt armies w flyers I've seen is CSM (helturkey) and C:SM w stormtalon/s. A crimson hunter list might work too but we don't have any eldar players who play low points

That's what I'm not looking forward too, I've got Vanilla Marines, Eldar, Tau (he's an awful player, he never beats anyone), another player has Tyranids, there's chaos and orks, too, oh, and grey knights.

I'm not expecting to do well against any of them! It'll be fun though, I don't think anyone expects a none-scoring, 10 model Death Company army

Overall I think that a succesful BA list has four parts in it:
1. Assault Squads. Our best Troops choice hands down.
2. Fast vehicles. The 20p heavy weapon platforms that can move 12" and fire it's TL weapon is one reason why I like Assault squads.
3. Sanguinary Priests. FnP for your assault squads (see the theme here?).
4. ???? The Ace up your sleeve. But since we have no true Aces, let's call it a Jack of Diamonds. Your Chemical X, your hidden blade that your enemy can't quite expect and be the fun part of your army! Death Company, TH termies, SR, LR, Libby Dreadnought.

These four parts I concider when making my own lists with BA. Most of the time I don't bother with trying to play competitive, I just aim for a good game!

I quit trying to win with the BA's when sixth came out ... we got hit with the nerf bat, run over by the nerf bus, and buried by the nerf avalanche ... but this has an interesting twist to it. If you do not care if you do not win, you have nothing to lose. I took a 2,000 point all DC list, and took a list where I had Mephy and Sangy (with an axe) running around near a squad of Sang. Guard with a Chapter Banner and a Sang. Priest in it ... talk about assault monsters ... OMG. What one could not handle the others could.

Sigh ... I am looking forward to a new codex ... hope it is this year.

All of those lists look like fun to run.

The fast tanks refers to assault squads in razorbacks.

I really hope they don't completely make the BA even worse like with nidz. I'm surprised they're coming out with another BA codex this soon, but who am I to complain? Hope they make Tycho better.

I first mentioned Fast Vehicles, then gave an example.
Last time I checked the Baal Pred was a fast tank.

Biggest difference was point reductions.
To be honest, I wouldn't mind. At least if there was still something that makes the 'dex worth buying, such as new special rules etc.

Yes the Baal's a fast tank, but as far as I'm aware he was referring to razorbacks. Anyway, no need to make a big deal out of nothing

It'd be awesome if the codex was re-done for this edition. I don't know how they'd make it advantageous to play an 'assault army' when everyone has over watch etc especially the Tau and their over watch bonus

Give literally every unit hammer of wrath. Improve DoA. And make stuff cheaper (looking at you vanguard and death company!)

Make Dante give 12" +1 attack. Make DC be able to take special weapons.

Good news if you were running the Death co without jps. That comes to 430pts!

If you were running them with jps (and on reclusiarch) that comes to 560pts.

No. Seriously consider adding another 2 DC and sticking them and the dread in a stormraven. That makes for one mean combo.
Then I'd suggest and assault squad (maybe in the pod seeing as you got it) for some scoring.
Then finally maybe a second assault squad in a razorback (only 120pts barebones) or scouts. Definitely another scoring unit though, at 1000 tabling is no longer quite so viable

Yeh, I'll be going for your advice for a 1000 points. I've still got two more 500 point games to play (we've got a lot of new players, so it's the best way to introduce them without scaring them off) and then it's onto the 1000 point games

Stormraven is a great gunship but it will be a pain as a transporter. Let's see:
- you can't assault from there.
- oh, right you can. But then you make the raven a sitting duck and it will die.
- Even flyers aren't invincible, if it blows up pretty much everyone inside is dead, unless you're carrying Assault Termies.

At 1000 points what you have now works as long as you get another Pod for your DC. The SR is still a good unit so it will fit your list if you find the bucks.
Besides that you will eventually need some scoring.

Assault Squads are the best option so do you prefer 10-man squads jumping (you will need Priest), or small squads of five in Razorbacks. I prefer Razorbacks for more firepower and mobility. + it's cheap

I'm allowed to use Forgeworld models, too. Other than titans, obviously haha

Yeh, trying to find a cheap Storm Raven is a pain in the ass, I knew I should've picked one up before GW price increases. Both of you, thanks for your advice so far

I like this. I would find points to give the 2 razorbacks las/plas, even if it takes not taking PF/HF/Meltagun. I would keep the 2 pods, though. Without them, as said, your raven becomes a sitting duck. unless your opponent is simply 1-week new, or has zero sense, they will take advantage of your vulnerability. With the list above, you can just keep zooming around w/ your raven shooting up stuff. I would suggest giving your stormraven bolters and melta and lascannons. You should be able to take out any flier with that, and you can kill troops.

I would make 2 slight changes to the above list. Take off the reclusiarch and 1 death co member. Add in a libby (so the death co still get rerolls to hit if not wound, or even better - cast prescience on the dread.) Then you can afford the points for a third assault squad with flamer in a pod. Now you have 3 pods so the death co and dread come down together.

Just curious, why not a melta? We have DC and DC dreadnought and their chainswords to take out swarm, I think it would be good to give them the ability to easily take out tanks.
