So I was going through my Aleph starter and while I wait for a replacement Asura (bad cast) I was thinking what my next purchase should be for the forces of Aleph?

I was leaning towards the support pack or the Steel Phalanx starter.

Gathering the Informations.

It depends on what you actually want to do. Remember that Steel Phalanx, as a Sectorial, is going to be very different to the standard list.

What's more you also have the forthcoming Vedic Sectorial which is going to alter the Vedic part of the faction.

The support pack. Netrods are your friends, and Sophotects with Yudbots are a good specialist/doctor/engineer that will, in my experience, only kill your own models 75% of the times.

I was leaning more towards the support pack. As for what I want to do I was intending to stay Vanilla and build up my inventory for both sectorials. I like the vedic side more, but I understand there are elements from the greek side that are useful in a vanilla list.

The Deva box set is very useful for a vanilla army. It gives you the cheapest LT in Aleph, and the non-LT deva-devabot combo is very potent in combat.

The support pack is also great, as the sophotect is a workhorse for ITS scenarios.

I would steer away from the steel phalanx box unless you decide to play them as a sectorial. The thorakitai and myrmidon hacker have a lot less utility in vanilla, though Eudoros is good.

Edit: quick question, what was the miscast on the Asura? If it's the right side of her face, the cheek in particular, that's an all the time thing, not a miscast.

You should get the Steel Phalanx on the basis that they are some of the coolest models in the entire Infinity range, let alone for Aleph!

It was a pronounced mould line running from your right cheek up between her eye onto her forehead, if it is normal ohwell CB decided to send me a new one.

It's normal. Your replacement will most likely have the same issue.

The ALEPH starter is full of nice models, barring the hideous Asura model. If I had seen just how bad the bare metal model is, I would have just bought the other parts(Dakini and Naga) that I wanted by themselves.

Despite its flaw that Asura model is one of my favourites in the range, and with a little work it can still look great. Of course I would have preferred a cleaner cast, but for me the model is worth it.

If it does end up bothering you there is always the Asura spitfire, which is a terror for any opponent to deal with (and I don't think many people would mind you using her as a proxy for the other two loadouts).
