InControl answers the challenge and calls Reecius out! Nids on Orks, can the new Nids beat the commonly regarded weakest army in 6th ed 40K?

I've got a game coming up soon, versus tau, using new nids. Hoping I see something really useful before I finalize my list. Thanks for the batrep one again fellas.

I agree that Orks are grossly underrated. Almost certainly not the worst army in the game.

I wonder if the problem is trying to build a balanced list. The lists I've seen you use all have anti-air, barrage weapons, psychic support, etc. This is obviously the best approach when you're playing a good army....But maybe Nids just need to overwhelm their opponents with spam.

As amazing as Biovores are, there's something to be said about 9 Carnifexes. Crones can be decent anti-air, but maybe 90 Gargoyles is better.

Will it be super fun? No.
Will you win any major tournaments? Probably not.
Will you utterly crush 50% of your opponents who are completely unprepared to deal with 200 models or 45 T6 3+Sv wounds? Maybe...

You dont do morale checks in the assault phase for losing 25% unless you loss combat. (last turn when the tervi exploded in a challenege with the nob it was said the gants then fall back after that). Not that it would have changed the results much....

When the Burna Boyz moved up, I noticed that they seemed to be within 2 inches of the spore mine. Also that it never seemed to move. Did you guys just forget about it, because I would have to say that it certainly would have helped with its controlled movement and AP4 blast.

The 30 man blob of orcs should have been advancing. Let momma and her spawn take the rear ones.

Is your Ork list a TAC list or an against Tyranids list? I don't understand what's it gonna do about tanks of any sort, say a bunch of Leman Russ tanks.

Also I the Ork games are the best games, nice win

I feel like 2 more crones instead of the swarmlord would have served you better. Maybe 1 Crone 1 Harpy.

Dump your Tervigon for another Tyranofex.

Shameful. The way those burnas were packed, you might have killed off 3-4 of them. and 4 less flamers in that unit probably would have kept you going a bit longer.

Im not really surprised synapse was nerfed. If you look at the trend they are crippling fearless troops in 6th. Chaos fearless troops moved to elites, demons became unstable, nids got hit with a harsher synapse. I am calling it now, orks will lose their fearless mob rule. I don't know what it will change to, maybe stubborn, but put me on the record

Honestly the nids made quite a few mistakes, forgetting units in vaulrable positions, forgetting the mine is there, and his list is a bit scattered without a coherent battle plan (every successful list nowadays is spammy unfortunately, this one has pretty much one of each, no repeat at all.)
Also not much synapse, nor much troops. this was odd.

And the ork list is pretty damn good actually XD

I want to see you guys batrap nids after baking the lists up a bit, and running them with more experience, THEN we will see what they are capable of.

Orks are a really solid codex, I'm not surprised they won. The only thing that they really lack is dedicated anti tank, but unfortunately for Tyranids that isn't a problem in the slightest against them.

Orks lack AT? I disagree there, fellas, I krump the gak out of Tanks with Orks all the time. Klaws and Deff Rollas brutalize heavy tanks quite easily. Battlewagons are awesomesauce and Meganobz too, just smash the crap out of tanks. It has never been an issue for me,personally.

And yes, that was a TAC Ork list. I actually toned it down a bit from what I have been running. I like to play 6 units of Turkk Boyz with a mic of Rams and Boarding Planks, they are so good. All those Klaws murderize MCs and vehicles.

InControl is still learning the ropes and so made some mistakes, yeah, no doubt. We did forget the Spore Mine, lol! Oops.

We're still learning the book, I am sure some better lists will emerge, but so far, Nids are the worst book in 6th by a mile, IMO.

I should have said 'Ranged anti tank.' Deff Rollas and Power Klaws are awesome, you just have to get them within striking range before being blown to bits.

Ah yes, I agree there 100%. Haha, poor Orks have jack and gak to kill tanks at range =(

I go for speed usually, a mix of Trukks and Wagons so I can get up-field rapidly. I like cheap, 20 Shoota Boy units for objective holding and shooting.

Orks are so fun! I love that army.

I've said it since the codex came out, and I'll stick by it. I firmly believe carnifex spam will be the "competitive" tyranid build that will emerge. Of course, I really don't think 2 flying tyrants are going anywhere as well.

Waaaaghhh!!!! Good report Reece its good to see the Orks win on your batrep. I back Reece in saying that rushing a bunch of powerklaws down field will make short work of heavy armoured vehicles no problem. If you throw enough down field some are bound to make it to those tanks. I usually support mine with lootas to knock out the AV12 and below vehicles. I'm not too keen on the dakkajets though only because bolters can bring them down.

First, great battle report, I like your guys vids and wished we lived closer together so I could get some games in with you guys. I think you may be underestimating the nid codex a bit, but eh, to each his/her own.

Few comments having used the new codex in 2 matches now:

Gotta have that mid range synapse...

Zoans are literally the BEST synapse unit in the codex now, being the only unit to come with an invul save and 2 wounds a piece makes 3 the ideal midfield synapse unit. Need to reread their rules as far as coming stock with warp blast, but I believe you can sub that power out for dominion after rolling for their second power...could be wrong, but I don't remember seeing any restriction to subbing out that power for the primaris.
This still only gives them a 1 of 5 chance to grab catalyst, but every other power(other than the nova save for extreme circumstances) works quite well with them. Paroxysm is awesome for shutting down High fire power low model units like broadsides, wraithknights and riptides. It is close to the best defence against the ranged ID attacks from wraithknights. They are also the only real unit where dominion works well to keep the majority of the army in synapse.
Offensively, the warp blast is quite good, sad if you fail the one and only LD test, but three BS4 lance shots wrecks vehicles and 3 S5 ap3 blasts levels marines.

use 2 units of these, never looked back.

I also use two tyrannofexes stock, still trying to decide if regen is worth it (I am leaning towards no), but 175 points for these guys is a steal. Manage to get either catalyst, onslaught or both on these guys and man oh man do they level infantry. I used them in the last book with acid spray, and used to use them with dessicator larvae, but I have recently been trying shreddershard as rending with shred is pretty great.

Still on the fence with hive guard... point increase and reduced BS really hurt them... but gaining pure "ignores cover" is damn good against skimmers.

devilgaunts are still good and cheaper! Hurray!

Having so much trouble justifying venomthropes... army-wide shrouded is very nice indeed, but as you guys are well aware of, there is just SO much ignores cover in the top armies these days, and unless completely blocked from line of sight against (or really just F'ed against smart missiles) these guys will never last more than a turn without a prime attached.

Anyways, just some thoughts...

Jeebus that was a longer post than planned, sorry about that!

Blackmoor, as much as I would like to spank that ass in a challenge match, that close to the LVO I will be 100% unavailable as I will be working like mad with last minute preparations.

But, after or earlier, I will gladly smash your Nids and take your lunch money.
