So quick question.
I'm debating using proteus with Abby does proteus gain anything special being he's a special issue, would he be worth it?

So what did a squad of Fire Dragons say to the ork stompa?

Abby doesn't really have much to offer to Proteus (or maybe its the other way around). Proteus is best used with Vayl for Dark Sentinel shenanigans (Proteus can drag models away from her, etc.)

Nope, you're thinking of an Affinity like Ol' Rowdy and Fire of Salvation.

Special issue just lets them into that Caster's/Lock's Theme Force and lets it be bonded to that specific Caster/Lock.

What would be a better choice?
Does the bond give anything?

The bond (in this case) is simply future proofing. If we get an eAbby at some point that comes with a bond, then Proteus can have said bond.

You do know that you can form bonds during Leagues and Campaigns, right?

The Bonding rules in the back of the book aren't there to waste ink.

The reasoning there is that normally, you can't bond with character warbeasts, but due to their link in the background, Proteus is an exception to that rule.

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."
