Ouch.

.. TBf I did enjoy all the stories in Meduson, but I'd recommend waiting until they're available in another format rather than paying through the nose etc etc.

The 3rd of Mr Thorpe's DA novels comes out... this weekend ..? .... although a few people have grabbed copies elsewhere.

Sounds most intriguing. I enjoyed the first 2 in this series ( ..well.. alright 3 really ) and am looking forwards to this one a lot.

Something of a HH reference too one gathers..

http://geekswithwives.com/interview-cosmic-king-comics-dan-abnett/

has an interview with Mr Abnett -- 1 hour plus t'would seem.

Deathfire -- the next actual bloody novel ! -- in the Hh series goes on pre-order this weekend with -- in theory -- hardback release next weekend.

.. so 9 months or so to go then eh ?

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed his Eldar novels (since I didn't enjoy his previous IG and marine ones). Sadly, that seemed to be an aberration as I thought the current Dark Angel ones were at times boring to ridiculous.

Perhaps that suggests he should stick to Eldar?

Though I will say this, the opening chapter of Ravenor has this gem:

Molotch punched in the coordinates and slammed the flier west over the gloss-black rot-forests. He could do this. He WOULD do this...

"Where you going, Zygmunt?" a voice suddenly crackled over his link. Molotch knew the voice. It belonged to Harlon Nayl, the most dangerous agent in his bastard-adversaries private cadre.

"Does it matter where I'm going, bounty hunter?" Molotch said, cueing the vox to 'send'. "I don't see you being able to stop me now."

"Oh, you know me, Zygmunt," the voxed voice replied. "You bring a blade, I bring a cannon... you bring a flyer..."

Noiseless, arch-winged, ominous, a Valkyrie assault carrier rose from the forest before him, washing the canopy growth back in a wide, concentric ripple.

I remember that. That was pretty awesome.

The Sabbat World Crusade has been part of Warhammer 40,000 lore for a long time now. It's been over fifteen years since Dan Abnett started telling the story of Commissar Gaunt and his men from the Tanith First. Now, in the brand new ‘Sabbat Crusade’, a collection of authors – Abnett included – explore the events of the crusade from a variety of views – including through the eyes of the enemy.

This massive book contains no fewer than eleven short stories set across the length and breadth of the Sabbat Worlds, including four new tales of Gaunt’s Ghosts. There is also a novella by Matthew Farrer focusing on the efforts of the Adeptus Mechanicus within the crusade as they battle the sinister Dark Mechanicum…

‘Sabbat Crusade’ is available to pre-order in hardback (and check out the amazing cover art by Gemmell Award-winner Raymond Swanland!), or if you can’t wait, you can download the eBook right now

Previously available in some swanky limited edition type format.

Interesting. Where's this? I can't seem to find it on their new stuff page. I've been wanting to pick up new omnibus's of the Last Chancers, Ghosts, Eisenhorn/Ravenor, Iron Warriors, and the Battlefleet Gothic series. I recently uncovered my old trove of BL novels and found them yellowing, with pages starting to fall off because the binding's pretty much gone. :(

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you here.

http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Sabbat-Crusade?_requestid=691616

is a working link for the GG book .

BL site one appears to be broken ... ho hum.

http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/40k-omni-pb

has the omnibuses currently available.

The Last Chancer are e-format only currently AFAIK don't think there's any of the BF Gothic books available at all.

They seemed to go when the Print on Demand service was pulled.

Sorry I can't be of more help/bearer of better news.

Look for second hand examples on Amazon, that's how I've filled in the blanks in my BL collection.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Sabbat Crusade is totally recommended for Mechanicus fans purely for The Inheritor King story, much better than the Saturday Morning Cartoon-style tie-in stories that came with the codex releases.

Yes, the Lion has something on his upper lip.

And yes, Sanguinius is the Emperor in that part of the Imperium, hence Red calling him the "new" Emperor.

I always did wonder why none of the primarchs were ever fashionable enough to have a 'tache. Probably because an entire legion of marine with 'taches would've been too comical to take seriously.

But yes, that's Sanguinius. That's the Blood Angels teardrop on his chestplate.

I find it odd that Leman Russ doesn't, along with a beard, seeing as half of the rest of his Legion seem to sport facial hair. Well, will have to wait and see what FW do with the Russ model.

from todays' GW site

Were you there the day Horus slew the Emperor? We certainly were, though it’s hard to believe that the Horus Heresy series has been around almost ten years. And shows no signs of slowing down with the thirty-second book in the series, Deathfire, available to pre-order now.

The book tells the tale of the XVIII Legion as they return to Nocturne with the body of their Primarch, Vulkan. Following on from the events that take place in The Unremembered Empire, Deathfire is a tragic tale, for the Salamanders have lost much, including many of their battle-brothers and the father of their legion who, for the first time, has not recovered from his wounds. It’s a harrowing journey for Artellus Numeon, former Captain of the Pyre Guard, who must lead his brothers against some of the most horrific foes the Emperor’s warriors have ever faced.

Like all new Horus Heresy books, Deathfire is a hefty hardback book complete with shiny dust jacket and four pieces of internal artwork that add to the excitement and depth of the story. The last piece of artwork in particular is a real show-stopper. Don’t skip ahead, though, you’ll ruin the surprise.

But that’s not all…

Deathfire may be the thirty-second novel in the Horus Heresy series, but it is just one of over 100 (112 to be precise) Horus Heresy stories available from the Black Library website, which include audio dramas such as the Garro series…

…novellas, short stories, eBooks and anthologies. Black Library have even put them in chronological order so you can follow the events of the Horus Heresy in the order they happened (Warp vagaries permitting, of course). You can even get hold of exclusive wallpapers, posters and art prints, like this one featuring Iacton Qruze as he infiltrates the Dark Angels fortress-monastery

Been 10 years since the HH series started ?

Good grief.

.. just think what we could have accomplished with our lives if we weren't so easily distracted eh ?

Oh, inevitable but reassuring anyway -- unless you've read the latest WFB rumours anyway... -- maybe the books will be great.

GW looking for writers again

http://jobs.games-workshop.com/2015/06/26/fiction-writer-nottingham-uk/

Spoiler:
Fiction Writer: Nottingham, UK
Posted on Friday 26 June, 2015
About the Job

Do you want to write exciting, inspirational war stories about Games Workshop’s miniatures?

Are you excited by collaborating with the Publications creative teams to craft novels, short stories and audio dramas that bring the battle-ravaged universes of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 to life?

You will be responsible for managing your own time, planning and writing numerous fiction projects to agreed deadlines. You will also be expected to work productively with colleagues to deliver an ever-improving quality of written work.

We know that the stamina needed to consistently deliver high quality, book-length projects makes this job hard.

Working at Games Workshop

At Games Workshop we are looking for people who will do their best to understand the needs of the company and to put those needs first when they are at work. Because of this we believe that what you are like, hence the attitude you show to work and the way you choose to behave is even more important than your skills or experience.

Other Essential Information

Number of Vacancies: There are two vacancies for this job.

Closing date: Applications must be received by midnight, UK time, on Sunday 26th July 2015.

How to Apply

If you wish to apply you must send us a letter telling us why you want this job. We select candidates for interview on the content of their letters. This is a great opportunity for you to let us know that you understand what we are looking for.

No letter, no interview.

We would also like to see a 2000 word short story featuring Ultramarines fighting Orks.

It may also help to include an up-to-date CV.
