Hmm, I'm assuming that is why the mech section now has a heavy support area. Maybe they will go up this friday? Or possibly a FW newsflash beforehand.

I am the only one who thinks it would be beyond awesome to bring back the Horus Heresy-era technology to 40k? Space Marine Jetbikes? Weird Mars laser weapons?

From what I can see- there's a conversion beamer and volkite weaponry. No idea what the centre one is.

Don't have my book with me, but it's either a Darkfire Cannon or an Irad Cleanser

Sounds like darkfire. Rad cleanser looks different if you look at the Magos beastie in their HQ choices.

I think it is an Irad weapon- they have similar nozzles- got the same cone with 3 fins look as the Magos weapon- just has 2 of them.

Having checked the book, I'm fairly sure it is an irradiation engine, which is a bigger version of what the magos is armed with.

They look a little less like Hi-Tech sculpts now. Honestly, I don't understand why people are quite so worked up over them, the Thallax looked better. To be clear, there's nothing particularly wrong with them but nothing I can see that would explain quite how excited some people have gotten.

Yep. These are the only ones of FW's Ad Mech models I don't like.

I'm not too keen on these, either. They look like your average Scibor sculpts, and I don't see the need for the tentacle bits. They'll make it hard to line them up for combat and will snap easily during transport, being long and thin tubes of resin. Sub-par and ill-conceived works, in my opinion.

What's odd to me is that they don't seem substantially different to the preview pics, but for some reason the new image just isn't doing anything for me. Maybe the paintjob makes the arms look too weedy or something? Hmm.

They are awesome, ordered!, the unpainted pics make them look a lot better IMO.

Guess that's yet another forgeworld order to make, good job I'm racking up the overtime.

Now definitely getting these for obliterators.
£31.50 for O's which look nasty, £47.50 for SM Centurions (an alternative I had thought about to convert) or £36 for FW M's.
FW it is then!
(I know I can get a discount price on the official O's somewhere but they just look horrible).
I will probably not put the tentacle things on but rather use them all on a warpsmith conversion, maybe using the plastic WFB Nurgle Lord.

The do look better unpainted. Can anyone say inquisitors in terminator armor for my Dark Mechanicus army! I love these!

Agreed they're better unpainted. The technique the FW painter/s use for the brass just seems to break up the lines and make the whole model look confused and messy. I'm not a big enough fan of, nor do I hVe a use for, these to buy them, but if I were on the fence, the unpainted pics are a lot more convincing.

Thallax were cute but kind of mono-pose and mono build. Myrmidons are amazing; no Hitech sculpt comes quite close (the closest stuff being the Alpha Corporis miniatures but they're Terminator sized and kinda similar) The sheer size of the miniature (they tower over Thallax) The robed-terminator(as in the movie) -badassness of the sculpt, and finally a real War-techpriest miniature, such an awesome concept and execution.

They look nothing like Scibor sculpts; Scibor stuff tends to be celtic-themed and ovaloid, whereas these are clearly 40k in style, and importantly Mechanicus/Blanchey. Mechadendrites are awesome, and since when was practicality/transportability a priority for models? Line them up for combat? Myrmidon Destructors should never see melee combat. How are they sub-par and ill conceived? Post an image of an equivalent model line with this quality of sculpt, please.

I think it's the paint job, it looks rushed and is slightly disappointing. Either that or we're too used to looking at the unpainted resin sculpts and dreaming.

OK, yeah the unpainted pics look wonderful by comparison, it's mainly down to the robes which it looks like they didn't bother to matte varnish after they washed/inked them so they're all glossy, and the armour which uses that awful process of just edge-lining brass/bronze/gold colours with a silver paint and calling it a day. The halfhearted OSL doesn't do them any favours either. I'll be grabbing these on Friday I think.

Also, it specifically labels these as Destructors, so we should get Secutors as well soon.

They were listed as including a photon thruster when I first viewed the FW page at about 5am PST. I'm guessing that the page was edited, as it now lists them with an irradiation engine. The listing also doesn't say that they're available for preorder/shipping on "x" date. I'm guessing this particular page was pushed ahead schedule. I wouldn't be surprised if we see the Thallax w/multi-melta/other weapons soon.
