Thallax with photon thruster and melta up on fw website!

MECHANICUM THALLAX COHORT WITH MULTI-MELTA (product code : 99590108097)

Designed to operate in the most lethal and hazardous theatres of war, the Thallaxii have undergone extensive cybernetic augmentation, allowing them to wield extremely potent weaponry with inhuman accuracy. Created exclusively by the Ordo Reductor for the other militant arms of the Mechanicum, what little organic material remains of the Thallaxii is protected and enhanced by the Lorica Thallax. This encases their major organs, nervous system and cerebrum, their skeleton and limbs being entirely replaced with armoured mechanical systems powered by an internal reactor core. Their primary weapon is the lightning gun, which is just as effective at killing the living as it is at overloading vehicles and weapons.

When engaging with more heavily armoured targets such as vehicles or fortifications, the Thallaxii will be rearmed with the devastating multi-melta, the furious blast of heat it produces turning an enemy’s sanctuary into little more than bubbling slag.

The Mechanicum Thallax Cohort with Multi-melta set, designed by Will Hayes, contains three resin models and is available to pre-order now. These sets will be despatched from Monday 31st March. Full rules for these models can be found in The Horus Heresy Book Two: Massacre.

MECHANICUM THALLAX COHORT WITH PHOTON THRUSTER (product code : 99590108108)

The Thallaxii are heavily augmented cyborg shock-troops used by the Mechanicum Ordo Reductor, and they differ from the Skitarii regiments both in purpose and the unique degree of their augmetics. The Lorica Thallax was developed from power armour technology and requires a robust human specimen.

The Lorica encloses the major organs, nervous system and cerebrum, but entirely replaces the skeletal structure and limbs with armoured bionics powered by an internal reactor-core. Surgical excision of the subject’s pain sensors, emotions, and normal human sensory apparatus and the agony caused by the Lorica’s implantation, leaves the Thallax a cold, calculating killing machine (albeit one that retains a degree of independent thought).

This set includes three resin Mechanicum Thallax models, one of which is armed with a photon thruster weapon, the others being armed with lightning guns. These models are available for pre-order now and will be despatched from March 31st. Models designed by Will Hayes.

FORGE WORLD BLOG #8

With the Forge World Open Day only a few weeks away, the Forge World Studio is a hive of activity. There are going to be so many cool new models to buy at the event, I hardly know which to tell you about first! Each of them will also be available to order in the weeks and months following the Open Day.

So far I know that a mighty warrior from the Horus Heresy will be unveiled and a new Mechanicum vehicle will roll out of the Forge World manufactorum. I've also seen some more brand new Realm of Battle Industrial boards and caught sight of what Phil Stutcinskas has been busy working away on – a mightily impressive behemoth in the form of a new super-heavy Space Marine tank.

Phil working on his latest creation.

There’ll be more details on the Forge World Open Day in upcoming blogs and newsletters, so stay tuned.

After all this excitement, I calmed myself down by taking a wander through the Forge World Studio to look at what everyone has been working on for their own hobby. Mark Bedford, who has been responsible for creating many amazing models, from the Myrmidon Destructors to the Legion Champion and Master of Signal, has been working on a Legion of his own, those born of fire and remade on the anvil of war, the Salamanders.

A squad of Mark’s Salamanders led by a converted Techmarine.

As you can see, Mark enjoys the challenge of converting his models. The MkIII Space Marines armed with volkite calivers above are led by a Techmarine that started out as an Iron Hands Medusan Immortal. The model gained a conversion beamer that was originally part of Valthex of the Astral Claws, a power axe from the MkIII Power Weapons set and a volkite charger among other parts. Mark also added a flame insignia to the Techmarine’s armour using Green Stuff.

If you’ve converted models using Forge World components, why not send us some photos of them via our Facebook page.

That’s all from me for now. Make sure you check back soon for more from the Forge World Studio.

Chris.

I concur, Baneblade - Fellblade, Shadowsword - Fellsword?

It's obviously a Fellblade chassi but with a fixed raised superstructure instead of a turrent and there's Neutron Laser barrels scattered around the workplace sooo..

I call Fellsword.

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

Meh, the Sicaran and Spartan sized versions of the neutron laser did not impress me, so I doubt a Fellblade version will be that much better. Still need to assemble my Glaive, anyway.

Cool, I was wondering if they were going to do more with the Fellblade chassis! It does look as if it's going to be Shadowsword inspired the same way the Fellblade/ (Fell)glaive is Baneblade inspired. The HH CCG had something called a Mammoth tank, while a super old issue of White Dwarf used the name Falchion.

That same mammoth tank is referred to in one of the newer HH books as well. I'm trying to find which it is.

Mammoth tank? Come on, even Horus knows you gotta rush with MEDIUM tanks first and then very late game maybe build some mammoth tanks.

A Legion version of the Shadowsword would make sense. The Fellblade and Glaive are already infantry killers, so an anti-armor variant would fill the gap.

Well, the Fellblade is excellent at knocking out lesser vehicles- it is better at anti-armour than a standard baneblade and worse at taking out infantry, but a super-heavy hunting tank is definitely the missing one though, as well as maybe a siege stormsword variant, and the variable fire blastgun variant. I cant see FW making a load of odd looking transport ones like GW, but maybe an artillery one like the Banesword? Cant think of any other niches really.

Also, Stormswords were originally a field conversion from shadowswords that couldnt be repaired, so they may not have been around as early as the HH. Marines may still have had their own version though.

Does a sculptor lose his job if the model imperial to zenos ration drops below 50:1?

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Yeah. I want necron stuff.

I really hope they do War in Heaven after Heresy.

It's only fair, right? Imperials get a big overblown war with OTT vehicles, so should Old One spawn and necrons.

It sells the most, because that is what they mostly make

If there are 20 varieties of one type of product, and 1 variety of another type of product, then the product with the most varieties will do better.
That has been proven through testing, iirc.
