I think having had time to process the image more, while he is everything one could ask for from a Horus sculpt, I find him a bit vanilla. I would like to own a Horus model, but I think I'll wait until he gets his Battle Of Terra/Final Confrontation Chaosified incarnation.

They did a very nice job with the face. It makes me think of Lex Luthor, but that's not a bad thing.

See now we clearly see the difference between GW and FW.

Forgeworld does agood job of placement with all the bling. Horus is covered in the eye of Horus, but not terribly. If GW proper made Horus he would have horus eye nipples and horus eye bits down below too

I really want to see how they chaosify him up later, and if he will stay very similar or not.

I think you're right. While he's definitely solid, and there aren't even any points to call out as not good, he's not really striking in any way. This is particularly bad for THE villain of this EPIC story. The Emperor and Horus (and to a lesser extent, say Sanguinius, etc.) should really deliver a larger-than-life sculpt/fig. Depending on the price, I might get one and slightly alter/jazz it up.

Damn, they've hit Horus out of the park. That is genuinely a 10/10 model, the perfect blend of gravity, presence, subtly and menace. Blows even the other awesome primarch models away.

I believe the intention was to do two version of the Traitor primarchs. It makes a certain amount of sense, especially given the popularity of "Pre-Heresy" armies; kind of hard to do Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus, Emperor's Children and the like when they're lead by an avatar of the dark gods and a purple snake-monster if the intention is to do them before all that happened.

I quite like the Horus sculpt, he looks extremely noble, and air of confidence and power, but controlled, refined, mature. Matches how I would picture him prior to everything going sideways (which is why I hope they finalize the Fulgrim sculpt which appeared some time ago of him holding the standard of his legion, rather than fighting Manus.)

The idea with these "character series" models seems to be to try and capture the essence of the character at a specific moment in time, some iconic action or phase. Some are better than others (Abaddon and Loken remain, probably, my favourite), but I wouldn't consider any of them a failure or missed mark yet.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

That Horus model is fine. He just looks epic, and the paintjob really looks good on the miniature.

That's because FW is staffed by hobbyists. GW is staffed by businessmen

I second cincydooly that sculpt actually got a "holy crap" out of me and I almost never outburst for things like that.

Horus will probably be the first primarch I buy .

OT: That Horus model captures him brilliantly, the air of arrogance and superioty that surrounds him, all captured in that bald head of his! I Think this is before the battle of Istvaan, when he was a loyal son of the Emp.

I'd be careful before you blow £55+ on him for that purpose, the pics for the Primarchs are deceptive, they're absolutely huge - Ferrus still has a solid 1-1.5cm over my newest truscale marines, and I made those in 32mm scale(ie the marines are 40-42mm fully-upright). Hell just the head of his mace looks to be around the size of a Terminator's whole torso.

Truly lovely model though, I suspect we're going to see a lot of dioramas of that famous painting of the Emperor discovering Horus over Sanguinius' body at Golden Daemon over the next few years.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?

Feel free to PM me a link to any pics of that and I do appreciate the heads up warning. I'm actually hoping to add him as the Iron Hands techmarine in my Deathwatch truescale marine squad as well (unchanged except for maybe removing the rock under his foot that inflates his size). I suspect and hope that Horus is even bigger but I'm actually OK with that seeing as how I made the "regular" power armor marines out of mainly terminator bits and wouldn't mind an actual terminator in the squad to tower over them as in the old Blood Angel codex cover.

Best Primarch model they've done so far IMO. Though Ferrus and Angron aren't far off either lol

I'm glad to see that Horus actually looks fantastic, unlike Fulgrim or Lorgar. If I ever make a Luna Wolves army, no question, I'm buying him. I also like how they made him work perfectly pre-chaos taint, so he works just as well with the Luna Wolves as the Sons of Horus.
