Got my HH book 3 collectors edition the other day. I noticed a stealth update in the legion lists. EC Palatine Blades squads can now go up to 10 models.

Also, these combi-weapons make the bolter look like the actual main component of the combi-weapon- a lot of the GW ones have the one-use part as a full-sized weapon, with a diddy boltgun squished underneath.

I got mine yesterday. The Imperial Fists fluff is excellent! Also, Templar Brethren + Sigismund jumping out of a land raider! Go-Go 5th edition nostalgia!

If you don't mind me asking, was there any update to the Dreadclaw rules? I've been waiting for my copy to arrive (Got the dispatch email on the 28th, starting to get the shakes ) and I'm holding out a futile hope that they might give the Anvillus Pattern a boost to it's rather lackluster rules.

And by the mighty axe of Khorne we cut open the world for them!

This is exactly my problem with GW combi-weapons, too. I won't be getting any of the FW ones either, but I've been planning to pattern combis after underslung grenade launchers and these will serve excellently as a visual guide!

The dreadclaw in the new book is like a mini version of the Kharybdis. It can burninate the peasants when it drops in, and can then fly around burninating the countryside.

Brilliant, thanks for that. Now to wait for the UPS guy to make his appearance

Found another stealth update. The sergeant in the support squad now gets the special weapon, too.

Er, that one was always there.
Nope, Sergeant had a close combat weapon instead. Specifically stated in the original that the flamers were "Space Marines only" and the CCW was "Sergeant only."

Eh, the Alpha Legion pads aren't awful but they're nothing to get excited for. Which is a bit disappointing. Oh well, I've always been a fan of the metal pads from GW anyways.

My bad, I thought you meant heavy support squads- I confess that special weapons squads haven't really caught my interest much, because they can't get hardened armour and therefore don't fit into my Zones Mortalis themed force idea.

Concur on the Alpha pads Bob, goddamn awful compared to earlier work like the Badab War pads. Then again, those were all made by the awsome skill of Simon Egan and he is.. a tad preoccupied with making awsome primarchs.
I mean, I know.. timeconstraints and all but still:
for £9 you get this (made by simon egan), 10 individual sculpts, just beautiful.
Or this, 10 of the same one (not that well executed) sculpt, also at £9. Not to be hyperbolic but I -CAN- do a better job than that if I spend a workday on a single pad and moreover I can freehand something way, way beond this in just a few minutes. So no, these ones will not be bought, do better FW, do it the way we know you can.
I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

I like the Support Squad with Volkite Calivers. They can threaten infantry, and with their 30" range and S6, they can be a danger to light vehicles, too.
Although, I do also love the idea of a full squad of flamers burninating everything in front of them.

Yeah, I'm sure they can be effective, I'm just making a very focused force based around breachers, terminators (of all stripes) and heavy support marines. Everything will have either terminator or hardened armour.

Yeah the stark difference in quality is somewhat off-putting. But it is testament to just how much the sculptor really has to do with the quality of a model/accessory. Hopefully Mr. Egan makes an amazing Alpharius.

Doesn't mean they should have Play-Doh hydras on their shoulders.
Just spotted another stealth update I don't think I've seen mentioned. Tactical support squads can take Volkite chargers (-1 s but with assault instead of heavy and half the range) as well as Volkite calivers
Yeah, those AL pads are awful. FW is getting a little lazy lately, what with these and the contemptor chainfist. The 'gamers collection' has me worried too. One click bundles with no discount, wonder where that directive came from
Stockholm Forge District; Skandian Hive Collectives
I wouldn't be worried, the book bundle still amounts to less than a single complete book and let's face it, all FW bundles don't have discounts, most have, but not all.

The Alpha Legion shoulder pads indeed look a little lackluster.
BTW, I just received the Horus model and while its really an amazing piece of work, he is also very huge. He makes Ferrus Manus look small compared to him and I thought Ferrus also was one of the larger, more bulky primarchs. Hopefully this scaling does not get out of hand ...
Just as I was on the verge of suggesting Forge World design more clothing to go along with the fantastic t-shirts you’ll have already seen at our events this year, guess what I find in the Forge World Studio? That’s right, minds sharper than mine had pre-empted my brilliant idea and already set about designing a range of hoodies. I've only seen one of them so far, but I'm pretty sure you’ll be seeing more at the Horus Heresy Weekender.
One of the new hooded tops.
I've also caught sight of a new canvas messenger bag which will be there on the day. The first thing I did when I managed to grab one was to see if it fits the books I’m currently using for games. Good news, both of the new Horus Heresy Legiones Astartes books fit perfectly, together with plenty of space for other books, dice, templates and more. It’ll even comfortably hold The Horus Heresy Book Three: Extermination with room to spare.
The Mechanicum messenger bag, ready to carry your Forge World books in style.
Speaking of The Horus Heresy Legiones Astartes books, I managed to get hold of a copy of each for ‘research purposes’ and take them to a few games along with my Salamanders army. I'm used to carrying both Betrayal and Massacre, so it’s great to have something so much more light and portable. They’re also a fantastic reference and make it much quicker for me to check rules and stats during games. Unfortunately, I've had to hand them back, but I can’t wait to get copies of my own!
The new books are an indispensible reference on the gaming table.
That’s all from me for now. Make sure you check back soon for more from the Forge World Studio.
Chris.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

OK, who is going to FW events this year? I MUST have that Iron Hands hoodie, so if anyone could help by picking one up on my behalf(and at my cost, obviously) shoot me a PM.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal
