When writing a post you have some buttons for making text bold, underlined, linked etc etc. How come there isn't one for strikethrough text? As in Mat Ward lolz?
Would a tag make people overuse it and encourage 1d4chan-like trollish posts?

It's maybe my favorite tag because it's useful for writing something really sarcastic and then thinking the better of it making quality posts. But as OP says, it doesn't see much non-sarcastic use, at least in my anecdotal experience.

Perhaps if you change opinion and want to go back and edit, but nevertheless want to keep it for posterity?

I don't really see the need for a strike-through button. It's not used all that often and it's not like it's hard to do.

None of the tags are for the most part. I type out all of my tags, that way I can ensure that I didn't fail to close a tag.
