Although some of the vault experiments are pretty extreme, something to keep in mind is that Vault-Tec didn't think the whole nuclear war thing was really going to happen. As far as they were concerned, this was just a chance to get some free test subjects for some social experiments for a few months at most.

Still, the damages were done, Vault Tech did kill people, and that one with Professor Braun, well, I see it as no accident how he sounds

Oh and the brains at Big Mt sheesh! but loved dealing with voices from Venture Brothers and such.

Vault Tec may not have thought that, but the Enclave did. The Enclave knew that a war was coming and designed the Vault experiments to test for conditions the spacecraft that they would leave the Earth on. The Enclave's original plan was not to remain on the wasteland that Earth would become, but rather to colonise other planets. Of course this plan failed after the rockets that the Enclave was going to use were damaged/ran out of fuel/ some other reason (this is Van Buren fluff mostly, but regarded as canon).

That explains the followers of the light quest where you can help them fix the rockets and their fuel supplies. Also now why the Enclave officer uniforms resembled the "Federation" uniforms in Forbidden Planet, somewhat, not totally mix other military past orgs in

This page's design document explains the Enclave's shuttle a little. The whole colonising other planets thing lead onto the player character using one of the rockets to reach an oribital base (the crew of which presumably had starved to death or fled after the war, though these bases can be fired in both 3 and New Vegas).

They touched on the Enclave Orbital base a little bit in the excellent, but unfinished Project: Brazil mod. The Player is repairing some systems in Vault 18 when you uncover part of an old Enclave hologram message from one. http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/45138/?

You mean that wildly non-canon mod?

I played it, but found that the writing was really silly. I mean the writers could get away with it if they had only played Fallout 3 maybe (*cough internet romance scene WTF? *cough), but I found quite a few bits of it to be a little dumb. Boulder Dome was better, I mean they both have visuals, but at least some of it tried to stay canon (a lot of that was stupid too mind). For such large mods I do have to wonder why they don't have people proof read their fluff? That or they just ignore the guy saying "guys none of this makes any sense" and decide to make a fun(ish) mod anyway. =P

Ah, such delicious fluff and discussion, nom nom nom!

I've been thinking about how to best adhere to the source and while I want to stick to it as much as possible, I do plan on deviating a wee bit here and there with some things.

As for that info blurb that accompanies that mod.. Dafeth?!

Many apologies for the neglect of the thread, work has been giving me a nice old double tap to the gut as of late, leaving me with little time to actually sit down and tinker with this. I'm also bogged down with an upcoming store event, where I'm required to think up some rules for a monstrous creature only event, not as easy as I thought it would be as the more vocal bunch of the group decide to keep their yaps shut, meaning I won't be getting that much needed feedback until it is way too late.

On topic however, I did manage to squeeze in some priming time to provide both of the trucks with another coat of dwagon red. I've also been going over my many minis and I've decided to recycle my Harker conversion..

Spoiler:
DRAMATIC RECONSTRUCTION

into a sixth Widow, giving the team some much needed extra dakka. That way the mini will see more use than in 40k right now or with the future AM codex, as chances are Harker might go the way of the Dodo or much more likely given the meta, become even more useless in an environment that only works on infantry platoons and tank spam. Bleh.

Other than that, no purchases made (wooh?) and still trying to find the time to paint the Widows and all those vehicles.

This lady?

...You're giving her that hat right? Right?! ^^

Worked out any more fluff on the Widows yet? I suppose you're going for a light infantry type unit with them, so you won't be using them with vehicles? Can I end every sentence in this post with a question mark?

There are some poorly painted WIP shots of her toting a bush hat in my gallery somewhere.

I'm hoping to sit down and get some stuff done tomorrow, work has been kicking my ass these last few days.

You have no idea how hard it is finding a fallout themed thread. I sincerely hope this thread rises from the grave cause it was awesome and the models were cool!

Only just now noticed that it has risen from the depths of obscurity.

I'm not sure when I'm going to pick this up again, though after finally seeing Fury Road I feel inspired again.
