I must admit I displayed a look of surprise on my face when I heard about the new rumours regarding Imperial Guard but then I remembered all the rumours about Tyranids rules in the months leading to there release and that 99% were fake and exhaled a sigh of relief! Does anyone know what might be getting nerfed aside from the Valkyrie and Vendetta? I ask because when this Codex is eventually released I do not wish to have my heart broken by finding out on release day that some of my beloved Imperial Guard have been nerfed!

What is with those rumours regarding the HQs? I am quite lost and confused by these findings.

There are no credible rumors about the rules yet.

All I've heard is something about a big tank (to rival riptides and other larger flashy models).

But I can't find proof of it.

otherwise besides something about separating Valks and Vendettas. I have heard of nothing.

Hoping that IG shows more promise than SM. Seems to me GW is boosting the prowess of its non popular armies to sell models. Popular factions like Nids, SM took balance changes. Being popular amongst players for decent armour, IG may take a hit.

I imagine we'll be seeing a vendetta points increase, other than that I expect to see buffs codex wide. Ogryns, Penal Legion, Ratling Snipers, Stormtroopers, Chimera, Rough Riders etc etc etc are rarely used either as a result of excessive point cost or just plain bad.

More than anything I just want to see either a entirely new IG regiment or one of the older regiments redone in plastic. Mordian Guard, Tallarn, Steel Legion etc. So tired of Cadia & everything associated with it.

Vendetta are getting buffed, Rough Riders are to be nerfed to WS2 and other things because they forgot to train the men as riders.

Vendettas will be nerfed , because people bought a lot of them. Veterans will be nerfed , because people bought a lot of them and they let IG players use fewer models to make an army and GW hates people buying fewer models.
Ogryns and Rough Riders will get higher points cost for some rule no one will ever use or that will never work in normal games.
Storm Troopers will either be removed or merged with Vets and will get a higher points cost .

IG player will need to buy 2 new uber tanks , one of the shoty and one of the command version , or they armies will run away . Both tanks will be blown up by D .
AC will go up in points and ML will go down in points.
Yarrik will get another new model and no one will buy it yet again .

Stuff like that is going to happen.

here was what i heard last...

vets are being tweaked so that you can take only 2 special weapons, or one special weapon and one heavy weapon team. ( can't say i would be surprised there...)


The flying turd *cough* vendetta was supposedly going to be a 45pt upgrade to the valk.



other than that all pure speculation, those i mentioned seem more likely.

I also heard that there will be regimental doctrines such as space marine chapters that sounds like more individualized guard armies.

I wouldn't bank on it.

Nid rumours said exactly the same thing for their hive fleets.

Look at how that turned out.

You'll see it when it drops. It's too far out for there to be anything but wishlisting right now.

I confess, I'm at a loss when it comes to IG rumors. Nothing I've read so far looks even barely believable IMHO. I know it has nothing to do with the rules but look at the most recent piece of IG news on Naftka: Rough Riders and Catachans removed, no new regiments in plastic and emphasis on "Cadia = Imperial Guard". That and the mandatory talk about fliers and a big walker kit.

Silly. The anonymous rumormonger that passed that one completely forgot about the changes in GW's release schedule, which will be in full effect by March and will surely mean changes in the usual character-infantry boxes-flier-MC pattern we've seen through 2013. Oh, and I doubt Rough Riders will be removed since they've had a model since the 90s (and, not counting Vic Lamb, they don't seem to have drawn the attention of the independents). It's not mycetic spores we're talking here.

Between this and earlier rumors about pushfit Steel Legion and other assorted crazyness I'm entirely in the dark when it comes to the Imperial Guard. The mix of high hopes and Tyranids-induced cynicism is way too much for me to handle.

I agree entirely with this sentiment. Strangely enough, some of the more out-there rumors (Knight Paladins) actually seem to fit with the current releases (Monstrous Creature Mayhem) better than the more widely accepted rumors.

The reason, I think, is that rumormongers that lack any genuine insight are trying to predict what will happen based on previous codexes. It's a sign of how many people in the internet crave attention and how erratic has GW been the last months.

If they redid Steel Legion in plastic it would be like printing money. Seriously. Just about everyone loves DKoK, but not everyone is willing to pay $50.00 for 5 plastic infantry. That & DKoK is not available except through Forgeworld. How many people have walked into GW stores, found the IG appealing, only to see the Catachan/Cadian infantry molds & been turn away? Steel Legion have a entirely different look & add something very few regiments offer - Offense (Assuming regiment specific rules). Steel Legion is all about mechanized warfare & blitzkrieg tactics. Meaning their rules would largely be centered around heavy chimera use & mobility. A much needed change from IG sitting behind Aegis 90% of the time except for the occasional Valykrie/Vendetta/Stormtrooper troop drop which is very predictable & monotonous.

I heard steel legion used to get their own special rules, but I wasn't playing back then. I do like their look the best and like my mech so it's a good fit, just harder to put the right stuff together troops wise the way they are currently sold.
