I am not a gun owner, nor do I feel the need for one. Crapdiddly, though, I cringe at this senator trying to bring out how dangerous the weapon he displays in the video is. I'm pretty sure there are more than a few pro gun videos that can illustrate a similar lacking of common sense from the pro gun side.
I am starting this thread so both sides can have a good laugh at themselves and others. Please feel free to put any good vids here. Hopfully ones that can be considered funny.

Here is the story behind the video:

Has anyone even actually made a "ghost gun" that works? I can't imagine something with a 3D printed barrel and firing pin working. The only 3D printed components that I've heard of actually working are things like AR lower receivers and magazines, both of which still require metal components like springs and such.

Or are they just talking about things like Glocks without actually understanding what they are and what their capabilities are?

I'm getting the feeling this is legislation about something that isn't actually a problem.

That might be the best video I've ever seen. A lobotomized chimp communicating solely by fecal smearing would have given the exact same amount of correct information.

I think so. I'm pretty sure that I have seen a few videos of 3d printed guns putting out 3-4 shots with some form of accuracy then the barrel giving up.

All I can find is videos of one working for one shot then nothing else:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-22421185

Both sides have been hilariously excitable about the subject though, with anti gun making it sound like everyone will instantly have access to fully functioning automatic rifles and pro gun making out that because they only last a few shots they are no harm at all.

In the opening 20 seconds I think that the only thing that he got right was that he was in fact holding a gun

Here is the video itself

Who donated their pimped out babby-killer to this chimp? I have made it my personal goal to refer to weapons in the most violent, incorrect way possible, since that's clearly what anti-gun folks do.

Interesting. Thanks for posting that. But even in that case the firing pin is still metal, and the weapon extremely rudimentary. I'm guessing the "ghost gun" from the video with the senator has quite a few metal parts.

I remember browsing a certain weapons board when the news broke about the first successful (publicized at least) AR lower being produced with a 3D printer. Anyone who knows what they're talking about would probably not be bothered by 3D printed guns in the least.

You can make a reusable zip gun out of a block of wood, a metal tube, some metal ring clamps and a nail, all of which would be laughably cheaper than buying a 3D printer and going through the QC of making something that wouldn't blow up in your hand.

There was a video, lets see if I can find it. But this Law student went walking around with a loaded gun with the safety off in full view. When the cop did the reasonable thing, Investiagated and took the gun he started to quote laws. HE just looked stupid.
I think we can all agree we dont want someone walking with a handgun in full view in down tow

Why?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, someone getting on with their day, with a gun in plain sight will only get a second glance from me, because I'm curious what type of gun it is.

Those looking to cause trouble aren't going to be walking around with a holstered pistol, or a gun slung to their back.

That police officer had every right to investigate, but I'd love to know his cause for taking the gun.

Depends, many places have open cary laws. Obviously in those places folks don't mind someone walking with a handgun in full view.

First place I lived with those types of laws was Arizona. Surprised me the first time I was out running errands and saw a couple folks with openly carried handguns in hip holsters.

In a place where open carry is legal, I don't have any problem at all with someone going about their business wearing a properly holstered pistol.

They talk about 3d printed guns, but the "ghost gun" he is waving around shots ectoplasm bullets for killing spectral zombies. That explains the 3,600 RPM firing rate.

Actually it is the classic press bait and switch. The problem is that anyone can legally build a non NFA firearm. No serial number or records of it being build as long as it is for personal use. Sounds like a tough thing to do, until you buy a incomplete receiver for an AR type rifle. You buy your @80% ar receiver and rent the CNC machine to finish it from a co-op that has all the software and jigs ready to go. Or if your a real man drill it out in your basement. Next, buy all the coolest parts to drop into your new no serial number AR receiver with any number of cool uppers and off you go.

It isn't that I don't want people to open carry (I live in an open carry state) as much as I just think it is stupid. This town is where I work and is about 10 minutes from where I live and every Sunday, a group of people that are members of the Virginia Citizens Defense League all sit around in a diner eating breakfast openly carrying their sidearms... for what, exactly? As a gun owner, I get it, it's their right to open carry. I just have never personally felt that I need to strap one of my handguns to my hip when I go out to breakfast (or anywhere, really) with the kids, let alone sling one of my rifles over my shoulder.

Maybe to simply make a point.

These folks are able to go about their lives, enjoy their company by eating at a local diner.

By their actions, it's stating "open carry isn't a big deal when it's done by responsible citizens".

Yeah, I know their point is to make a point. The "for what, exactly" was intended more as a rhetorical question.

I still think it is dumb.

absolutely not... I feel much safer when I see lawful citizens with the means to protect themselves, dissuade criminals, and generally make the whole area safer.

most open or concealed carriers have more training/skill then police do, you dont freak out when you see a cop with a gun on his hip now do you?

You know, you raise a good point. I'm always seeing people standing around smoking cigarrettes. For what reason exactly? I know it's their right and everything, but I've never felt the need to do it, and my kids what would they think?

If someone was seriously saying something like that, what would the response be? Grow up. Get over it.
